"Last of the Meheecans" (Season 15, Episode 9) is a great episode with a catchy original song and some hilarious social commentary. "Raisins" (Season 7, Episode 14) is very funny but also has one of the most inspiring and beautiful speeches in the series. "Kenny Dies" (Season 5, Episode 13) might seem depressing at first, but it shows how astute Matt and Trey are as they expertly use the emotional manipulation techniques/tropes of successful tearjerker movies to create a seemingly legitimate tragedy out of the death of a character whose repreated deaths are normally played for laughs in the series.

This episode is what introduced me to South Park in 2001 and have been a super fan ever since! Put the Sarcastiball episode on the list!! Season 16 episode 8... Very Randy and Butters centric episode... Hysterical!! 😂
Dr. Mephisto was based on Marlon Brando in the Island of Dr. Moreau 1996 remake. In that movie Moreau also had a tiny man following him around and dressed the same.
@@vivimos_en_una_sociedad7758 The world's smallest man at the time, Nelson de la Rosa, was a cast member, and when Marlon Brando finally arrived on set he took a liking to Nelson and demanded they both share all scenes together. No one really knows why he wanted that. The movie had one of the weirdest productions in history. It was also the inspiration for Mini Me in Austin Powers.
"You mean to expect me to let all those horny old men have their way with my fragile person?" I love the way Butters put that. I'm also incredibly relieved, and somewhat surprised, that he didn't actually end up "taking one for the team" considering some of the other things the show has done to him.
This episode aired June 21, 2000 I was shocked to learn that the organization NAMBLA actually exist but the fact that it still exist after 23 years later since this episode aired is even crazier!
It's terrible, but that collective horrified "AAAAA!" and all the boys running into the hall always cracks me up. I've read that the hallway door gag goes back to live stage performances that pre-date movies but that the first use of it on film was in France farce comedies, hence the French song, French waiter, Frech poodle, etc. in the South Park scene.
A guy I worked with who was in his 40s thought it would be a great idea to take his friends 18 yo son to a Pride parade to see some of the less sheltered manly hetero only world. This was in the 90s. They accidentally took their pic under the banner of NAMBLA and I couldn’t stop making fun of him. Our conversations went like this: Me: Nambla, huh? 😂😂😂 Him: Shut up
which is funny because NAMBLA tried to bolster itself to the gay pride movement, but the gay pride movement rejected them, and kicked them out, and the LGTBQ alliance has since pushed them away, because what they advocate for is illegal and harmful.
The room switching thing was a call back to Scooby Doo where they often had a scene where the gang was running away from the monster, and they would just keep switching rooms and in the end scoobie and shaggy would end up in the room with the ghost.
A later episode they say they got cursed at some kind of gathering so Kenny is a cursed child that can't die. This episode shows they get glitchy moments of Dejavu whenever he's born again but whenever he dies they never remember that happening just like everyone else.
I remember, back in the late 1970s/early 80s, Sexology magazine was on the rack at the checkout stand at Safeway supermarket right next to Soap Opera Digest. After the height of the Sexual Revolution there were tons of therapists espousing and trying to mainstream all kinds of sexual practices. The resurgence of conservatism after the mid 80s put a lid on that, but the "you have to accept all alternative lifestyles or none are safe from persecution" belief lingers to this day. The real life NAMBLA was an attempt to hitch a ride of that bandwagon.
Oh this episode is hilarious, by the way there's a group of Pedophiles, which call themselves Non-offending pedophiles, which are pedophiles that don't have sexual encounters with children, but yet they do have fantasies about it, I still think they need help and therapy to get them to stop being pedophiles.
And the crazy part is, I research this after I watched this episode. I didn’t wanna believe it at first but yep they’re real. their whole movement is based on trying to make it OK for having sex with children at a young age. They were even new stories about these guys being arrested, even going as far being charged for their crimes. there is an FBI agent that even went undercover and man he really found a lot of disturbing facts about this organization that led to so many arrests. Now the biggest surprise of the episode isn’t the fact that these sick bastards exist NAMBLA. but now there’s another organization I didn’t discover this until last year. This organization called MAPs ( Minor Attracted Persons) they’re trying to do the same thing even managing to get into the LGBTQ crowd. despite that many of the LGBTQ movements, criticism of existing. They still turned a blind eye especially considering they started adding more alphabets to their movement confusing people. I even saw on the news people even going out saying they support this movement and I’m like you people should be registered sex offenders now. No matter what they call themselves even if they say oh we’re trying to force ourselves on children they still are doing it. This is how our moral standards are leading right now.

The Marlon Brando NAMBLA is the one that's NOT real, by the way. The other organization is very real.
yeah I don't get how a group like that could exist. They wouldn't be around for long where I life.
