The work pressure is huge in PSBs especially in SBI.
They give you impossible targets and then scold you, abuse you when you are unable to achieve them.
Personally i have no issues regarding place of posting. I don’t mind being posted away from home in rural areas.
But the employees in SBI are not treated as employees but slaves especially officers.
They have no personal life. No holidays. Asked to come to office even on sundays. The condition gets way worse when you are Branch Manager. You are accountable for everything. And trust me the tasks and responsibilities allotted to you are inhumane. No one can do it.
They also know it yet they make you accountable for everything.
This kind stress affects your mental and physical health.
Many of my friends have resigned from SBI due to mental abuse. I am in contact with 10-15 POs of my batch and none of them seems to be happy in job.
Some are miserable than the others.
Now i trying to get out of SBI even if i have to take a less paying job.
Money means nothing if you don’t have time to even take care of your health.
Money means nothing if you don’t have the time to spend it.
I m also in sbi and its real i m also preparing for other exams so i can get out of sbi . my friend who are working in private companies are enjoying more than i do .. Their Standard of living is far far better than mine .

I'm working as SBI PO in Karnataka ,my home state and my own district , financially it is gud if u look at a bigger picture ,it is better to be pressurised being employed rather than being unemployed. Atleast family members will stay happy

I'm 22 right now working in UCO bank selected this year... From the last 3 n half months se ghr Jana 1 bar hota hai month mein usne bhi aadha time train mein hi nikl jata hai, there's no connectivity from here to my hometown, posted farrrr away from home, there's nothing here it's a complete rural area only 4 staff members in branch other 3 are from nearby places so they go to their home every weekend but i don't, I'm trying to get another job as soon as I can kyuki kaam krke bhi thoda bhi sukoon na ho ghr na ja sko time se koi ho nhi bat krne ko work ho bht sara to fir kya mtlb esi job ka... “The real thing you get to know about a bank when you experience everything by yourself,” nhi esi bate Krna bht aasan hota hai

I resigned after working for 15 months in a Public Sector Bank as an officer.
Never get influenced by some other person's opinion because they don't know your strengths and limitations, it's only you who know yourself better than anyone else, if you feel you have it in you to do something better, then don't be afraid to resign.
Most common advice that people give you is don't quit until you have another job, but they forget the most important thing that today's banking job doesn't give you time to focus on your career goals, banks don't even have an option of study leave which clearly indicates the mindset of the management, they don't want you to switch or move forward at all. So in the end only you have to take the decision for yourself.
Nothing great comes without a risk.

I have joined sbi as a PO in 2017, it has been a life altering experience , I have been posted away from my home , worked as a PO , worked in commercial credit , worked in operations and presently working as a BM in single officer branch rural .I have also appeared for the RBI interview this year in my 4 th attempt at RBI GRADE B examination. It’s difficult to manage ur prep with such a hectic job but with determination and luck it can be managed .Overall the banking experience has been grinding yet it has made me what I am today .
I hope to see the future of banks to be better than the present.

My father is working as Assistant Sub Inspector In CISF. Only bread earner in our family. Well, I shouldn't criticise his job because that job is feeding our whole family. But that job sucks in ways more than I can count. My father never gets leave on festivals, leave festival, he couldn't see his father during his last breath. He works for 12 hours mostly but receives salary less than an newly joined PO. He dedicated 35 years to this nation, still couldn't manage to get home loan subsidy. His department always believes in harassing soldiers, bad and frequent transfers, sometimes no quarter and no housing allowances also, bad mess food and atmosphere, always dealing with criminals & much more. This is the reality of any Central Armed Police Force and somehow in parallel with Army and other forces. Well state police even sucks more than CAPF. No job is fun job guys. In comparison with such life, I see banking job is a blessing. Prepare hard.
The biggest problem that we are currently facing is the pressure to do cross selling and mostly misselling... the pressure is humounguous... and not just one product... everyday apart from your normal job routine... you have to sell life and general insurance... as well as mutual funds plus many govt schemes like pmssby and pmjjby... and obviously most fail to meet the targets... then you are subjected to torcher by your Regional Manager... bank job is not bad.. but nowadays bank officers have been turned into insurance agents... and that is worse...

Sir,I worked as a SBI Clerk for 9 months and since 2013 I am in Indian Overseas Bank as officer in 2020 I got promoted to scale 2.In my experience bank jobs are good it pays you a handsome salary at the month end along with other perks .Only thing is postings as I belong to North and I am in south for the past 9 years it affects me.Regarding career progression I can definitely say banks are far ahead than other organisations as here persons having knowledge and skills and good contacts as well as communications can move up the ladder very very fast.There is politics and pressure no doubt abt it but it's rewarding.

Getting selected in banking job is not a easy task. In the last 1 year I have cleared five Scale - II (Manager) written exams and Interview including SBI SO but unfortunately not able to get through the final merit. Finally I got the opportunity in IDBI Bank to work as a SO Scale -II (Manager) in Digital Banking. Looking forward for this opportunity as I now what it takes to be in the banking sector. So everyone who is working as a Clerk or Scale I in PSBs do not take the banking job lightly.

Even in my role, people who are posted at different locations have very different experiences. For new candidates, please get into it, if you're getting an opportunity. Future is good for people who want to work honestly.

I m working as a scale 1 officer..and i m 100% agree with u....u put all relatable points on personal life as well as professional life.
First of all one needs to realise that no job is inferior.. When one clears a bank clerk/po job he/she has surpassed lakhs of candidates to reach here.. And banks are the financial backbone of our country.. A nation cannot develop without banks.. They are one who are implementing the social security schemes at the ground level.. giving financial assistance to the needy.. So one cannot just criticize banks as one size does not fit all.. Me being a scale 1 posted in rural area would say that banks job is very dynamic.. hence the first priority freshers should give is to get a job at first instance.. and then onwards one can plan as to which field to finally land... That's what I am trying with regulatory bodies now.. All the best to all Aspirants 👍

So bank ko criticize bhi bank employees hi karte hai but koi leave nahi karta untill and unless they get something better...

Sir , There are paucity of staff in every rural and semi rural branches . Plus there are ( One plus one branches of SBI in rural - remote places , wherein cashier and even BM's are unable to take Casual leave in case there are not well ) 🙏🙏🙏

Microsoft Google Amazon mein senior helpful hoota hai... Aur agar kaam aacha nahi laga toh aap kahi bhi relocate kar sakta haan even US/Europe. How can you compare the job of bank with microsoft/google/amazon. people working in those organization are mostly from TOP university like IIT/NIT in India and their salary are also 5-15x of banking job and work life balance is also very good in product based company.

Only problem with PSBs is leadership vacuum. PSBs have very poor leaders with no vision. They just want everything to be done without making any efforts. Planning is poor. Knowledge gap is huge. If good leaders will run PSBs, beleive me these jobs are best as it provide security , learning culture and challenges everyday that does not happen in other govt department.

We are under staff in our branch. It becomes hectic when one person takes leave coz then it puts burden on the only person present.

Sir even in rrb there are enough pressure for different targets, especially sbi sponsor rrb..their are weekly target you have to accomplished and u have to do daily report to zonel office..now the main point u will satisfy whenever u do these works because they pay you enough and u have to repay by your work.. the authority is always supportive about your problems they will allow leave whenever u need and at 25th when the salary credited in your account will heal everything

This words are suitable for urban and metro branches where though pressure is there, but atleast you will get leave whenever you need that.
People are forgetting that majority of branches of PSBs are in rural, and semi urban branches, and those branches are run by single officer , single clerical, and you will hardy get any leave, above that pressure of target achievement which is never gonna achieved, Don't judge the bank on the basis of your place of Posting like Patna, Ranchi. Once you are in, you will hardy get any chance for your further career progression, they will delay your NOC, your resignation request, they will not allow to leave also. Better not to join any bank job, and even you joined by any means join as a clerical. Don't join PO job.

I had been in PNB. I have seen and heard my bm getting abused by his seniors. I am happy that I took the decision of leaving it without wasting alot of time. For technical people I would say go for Pvt if you can. Private jobs are not what they used to be 30yrs ago. After couple of years nobody can stop you.

Each and every job has its challengess.Wheather it is teaching, farming, or even if you are studying there are always gonna be challenges and pressures.Even monks have their own set of challenges.There is always gonna be hectic work the point is wheather we are able to handle that pressure.If we are weak then it is not systems problem but ours.There is reason why we are getting paid well for work.
As far as public sector banks are concerned
Pressure is there always,if you sanctioned any loan and turned NPA after some time then accountability will be fixed,even ur terminal benefits will also b stopped
But in job social and financial security is always there

I started my career in 2015 as a Deputy manager in kotak mahindra bank, in 2018 I joined J PMorgan chase, after that TCS, then EY and now in November 2022 i am joining SBI CBO sclae 1 officer. so o feel I have all varieties of experience. I heard ppl from public sector bank r trying for jp Morgan, wells Fargo and other international bank. but as sir said dusro la naukri sabko accha lag tha hai it is true. in jp morgan also uwill find pressure, and moreover no job security. so i can say Publi5 sector bank r far better than other international bNk Or IT company due to job security, financial stability etc

I also studied in Marathi Medium till 10th Standard, practice is required. Always write English, Listen English and Try to speak English, its process and it will take some time around 6-12 months.

I am working in Bank of Maharashtra Scale 1. I am from UP and posted in very less developed area of Maharashtra. Sometimes i also think kha aagye hum aur kyu, due to posting issues mainly.
But if i thought that what i was before this job, answer came, NOTHING, job gives you financial stability and social respect as well.
I am married and having a baby, and i can't get time for my studies. But, still i am trying and studying to clear Regulatory bodies examination.
Banking also is also a very vast field, one should work for different skills learning.

Primarily, work pressure depends on branch in which u r posted.
Bank of Maharashtra, or i would say that banking sector is suffering staff shortage every where. So please make up your mind for work pressure.
In my personal opinion, join first and try to select in any Regulatory body, if u are looking your career in banking field.

Much needed guidance in today's compititive world aspirants. it's ok to switch to other job which is better in terms of postings and salary but we see people leaving bank clerk job at intial years of service without any though due to work pressure but they don't understand , what benefits the bank job is going to give them in long run. Believe me guys , bank job is anytime better than state govt jobs in many asspects like work culture, corporate structure, improved HRMS, staff benefits like housing, car loan, OD etc. I too guide people on such issues sir. I m happily posted in my hometown as a clerk in Pnb. Done 7 years service in this esteemed organisation. Initial years were tough but later u learn to manage work life balance. done my CAIIB , as i joined bank at early age, get a handsome salary. no need of promotions.
And even if u take promotions, no need to worry, u learn to manage everything with time. There are normal people who are doing the same.
