Interesting, thanks. So if you did quad retopo in MD before exporting with thickness, would it not be easier to weld the points as the vert should be matched?
Don't get me wrong, it's not impossible to use the thickness from MD, it just takes extra work. I just wanted to show people that it's not a ready to use mesh when you export. I may have come over more negative that I wanted to. A bit of retopology would probably help, but it won't change the edge mesh which is my main concern. When the edge from one panel intersects with another, that's where you might get some unwanted welding. Again, you can definitely make it work, but it takes effort. For me it's a case of just how much effort you put in. For a main character clothing item the effort would be worth it. However, for a less prominent piece, outfit or prop, I don't think it is. I hope that help, and thank for the question. Take care John
Hi I found a solution. In the current version, Thick export is kinda bugged out if you use "Export OBJ (Selected)" with thick settings. You need to use just the "Export OBJ". To export Garments separately, (EX: u got a Shirt and pants), delete the pants, use the export OBJ, and you'll have the thick tshirt mesh. Reload the file, delete the shirt, export OBJ, and you'll have the Thick pants. I hope this helps you out in future project.
Learned so much from this video I had to come back and thank you.
I Remember asking about this during the livestream last week, good information!
That's what put it in my head :) hope it makes sense
Great tutorial! Thanks so much
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you👌
Thanks!
No problem!

Hey ! When I export from MD and check "Thick", my cloth doesn't appear on Blender, only "Thin" option work... Do you know why ?
I have the same issue, it is crazy batshit that nobody can answer this question. Did you prhaps found a solution?

Nice! Is there a way to export the clothes as a 1 side mesh directly from marvelous designer?
Sure, on export untick the thickness option, it will just export the thin mesh.
