I've already lost multiple hours of my life on that addictive AtariAge thread. No regrets because of the wonderful entertainment, but yes.... hours. GONE. (EDIT: Different thread! I was talking about that delightful Coleco Chameleon thread.....)
I'm on AtariAge a lot and have posted more than a couple of CUPodcast videos on there, including in the Coleco Chameleon Hardware Speculations thread. Coleco is doing more damage to their brand than the people they are attacking.

Ian suffering from a condition with the acronym of NES is some high-level irony. Sucks, though.
Pat, something you haven't mentioned is this: Coleco used a modder work (in this case the one of a kind ColecoVision Portable) to register the ColecoVision trademark. Now the interesting part is that they "licensed" the modder the CV logo, in exchange of the use of the device. So they used someone's else work to register the CV trademark, someone that was using the trademark before they were (and there are others too), and in exchange they licensed the trademark they still didn't have to that person (chicken egg situation). Sorry, it is even hard even to explain the whole thing. BTW, the modder also supplied them with the CV logo vector file!

There was actually an Atariage Expo a long time ago in Austin, TX. It was a very fun show. Picked up a bunch of great Atari 2600 products there. However, I don't think they ever did another one.

I bought the Ultimate SD cart upwards of 2 yrs ago and have not actually used it yet. I have a pair of stock consoles that were bound for an a/v mod but haven't settled on one yet either. Since ColEM/Adrenaline/PSP on PSTV runs so flipping good I have been enjoying it along with Retroarch and will continue. Flashback consoles blow, I highly recommend checking out VitaTV until we can all get Analogue NT's.
My point is: part of my motive for buying the SD cartridge was to show love for the homebrew scene.
Keep up the good work and thanks Pat! I was one of the lucky kids in 1983 that had a Colecovision and it was the hands down champ of that era. Colecovision for life!

Late to this party, just now hearing about it. I was upset until you mentioned the GI Joes....wow, talk about head explodies.
Side note: Those are Black Major figures in the auctions. They are indeed recasts/bootlegs, but they are all made by one guy--not the Coleco guy--and are almost always in colours that default figures aren't actually in. Seeing as Hasbro last produced an o-ring figure in 2009 (and 2006 before that) this is pretty much the only way for a non-modern Joe collector to get "new" toys.
AtariAge is one of the best retro gaming sites I ever went on and a lot of the people there are so nice, they deserve ALL of the sandwiches

Most fan pages use the logo of the thing they are fans of. And I cant believe a brand that not too many people know a lot about (compared to a Sega or Atari) and that is trying to have a re-emergence, is going after a fan page. Thats like Duesenberg putting out a new car, and going after their loyal, 107 year old fans. Honda has thousands of fan pages, with logos on t shirts etc, and they allow and embrace it.
The best way to run Coleco at this point is to simply license out the trademark to companies like atGames which do an okay job at making emulation machines and try to develop an in house app for use on mobile platforms. Yes true gamers hate that stuff but they get downloaded and played by a lot of people because they offer nostalgia in an easy to consume form.
Ian is the man sometimes. He wants be like Pat and say something maturely, but then is just like, "fuck it", and says it how it is. It's great haha.

I tells ya, when I pollute my thought processes by using the UA-cams to watch J Fontaine (aka Chris Cardillo) videos, it makes it really hard for me to take any of this stuff seriously. The "Mike Kennedy" stereotype we got during the Chameleon fiasco is *nothing* compared to what the mind can conjure up when J Fontaine is somewhere trying to pull some strings (and somehow "make it rain").

As a preface i have nothing against any of this BUT
An argument COULD be legally made using the book for example that using the actual trademarked logo of say nintendo on a book COULD lead some to believe that the product is in some way associated with the brand and therefore official creating a sticky situation regarding any legal stance companies could take against it
Again im not against any of it but still I certainly believe that a case could be made simply upon trademarked logos (especially considering the collectible nature of the products associated with)

I have both. It's better on Coleco. Also, everything's better on arcade, but MAME isn't for everyone, and there's not a ton of Zaxxon machines floating around, or space for one.

Keith is a former Blue Ranger, which were the "rock star" programmers for Mattel back then. Intellivision Productions has their own website, and Keith is very engaged with the Intellivision community via the Intellivisionaries Podcast.

Just change the spelling to Kolekovizion. They cannot lay claim to that spelling. They do not own our memories which this current company is not a part of. We are all in our 40's Coleco! Who cares if there are pornographic adult games being played under your logo. We are old enough to not let that reflect on your name. These games are still tamer than alot of games that children play these days. Microsoft and Sony could care less about what type of games are marketed on their systems because they are not the morality police. It is on parents to monitor what their kids play. The 80's are over! We do not need companies to help us raise our children. This excuse is phony anyway. You do not own Colecovision fans memories. This fan base kept the memory alive without your help and we did not ask for it. You are not Nintendo! You were defunct. Nintendo is still producing products in the same genre they always have. Take the Sega attitude! They are happy people still keep them relevant. They still produce software not hardware but that is more than Coleco has done in the video game realm in recent history. They would have more of a leg to stand on if they went after people using their logo but they do not. They made some of the best games on the Colecovision. They and Nintendo both helped make the games that made people like your system. Not you! You are riding on the curtails of Sega, Nintendo, and the memories of fans. There is nothing you have to add to the scene. Let the people who care do their thing and butt out. Whatever you plan to do with the Colecovision name will not be successful because it is money driven and not memory driven!

Actually, i would love to see some big company to fuck up Reboot and their shitty ST to Jaguar ports, which they are nothing but straight ST ports. They aslo illegaly copyright striked my friend 10p6's Jaguar videos simply because he sold his copy of Another World for the Jaguar. Attack to anyone who dares to say anything about their shitty practices and those who promises good stuff to the Jag community. Fuck those sons of bitches. They may look like good guys but they're not and i speak about this from personal experience and from those who had very bad experiences with them.
