Poor little sweetheart, it's so sad that animals have to suffer from lifelong issues because so many humans are irresponsible. So glad she's in the best hands and I hope she'll find a loving forever home!
Ohmygosh I've only ever read the word brachycephalic before, so now I finally know how to pronounce it! Also, I had no idea this was a hamster problem - only ever heard of it in dogs and cats. I'll be fascinated to learn more! Thanks for the video!
Domestic rabbits as well. Lops, Netherland dwarfs and lionhead rabbits are all breed with shortened noses that cause a lot of ear, nose/breathing, teeth and eye issues.
Thanks for making these videos about brachy hamsters, Munchie. My cousin had rats when he was younger, and so got a rat again a few years back named Yogi who ended up passing.. (he did have him with an older rat named Bear but they didn't get along) He had a crooked nose. Now I wonder if he was maybe brachycephalic and that's why he wasn't around very long. Such a shame :( Put my cousin off wanting to have rats again. Being aware of these conditions and how they're perpetuated by bad breeding practices will surely save us from such heartache down the road though, I think. Just goes to show how important daily health-checks are for our pets, and why we need to take these things into account before deciding on taking on new additions to our families.
I recently adopted a 8 month old hamster from Hubba Hubba hamstery. Wow is she an incredible girl. I’ve only had pet store hamsters before her and just her size alone is amazing. She’s 190 grams. Ethical breeders is definitely the way to go. I had her in a 40 gallon breeder thinking it was big enough but after getting to see her size I built her a DIY enclosure that’s 4 ft x 2ft x 2ft. She’s thriving in the space now and it’s so great to see.
I had 3 hamsters growing up, all pet store hamsters. Definitely wanna see what it's like to have an ethically bred hamster if I decide to have one again in the future ^ ^ My next rats too for sure
Oh Emma! I hope she is doing better. She is still so adorable though and so loveable! Love what you do, it is so kind. I am thinking of maybe starting a small rescue in the future!
I specifically chose my current syrian hamster by her face. Her's is slightly longer so she looks kinda like a very big mouse. This was so unique, she stole my heart immediately. The teeth are fine by the way, my girl is a big chewer with a liking to her enclousure (which is a Rodipet one). Her eyes seem smaller than those of pet shop hamsters (she's from an ethical breeder), but that's her. As different as individuals can be. So personally, I would love to care for such a georgous hamster as Emma is. I also understand those who back out. I think that the person that inquired maybe had an issue with sick hamsters in the past and got over-emotional.
I feel like the petstores or the mass breeders should be held accountable for breeding issues within hamsters and selling them. Even though the hamster looks cute and is sweet. They should start to breed properly. I thought I had one because he has a small nose and he continues to stay small. But he does have teeth, but short teeth
Can you do a update on how to get hamster to chew? I recently adopted a hamster that seems not to be given much to chew on based on his long teeth. I tried apple wood, Greenies, sticks that had peanut butter rub in and removed, and chews left in smushed strawberries overnight but he hasn’t touched them.
I didn’t even know you could get brachy hamsters that’s so sad it’s bad enough that loads of brachy dogs are being bred and are really popular but now hamsters
Where was she originally gotten from? I know the big name pet stores are bad about selling these poor babies as "cosmetically imperfect". I wish people would stop shopping at pet stores and stop breeding if they don't know what the hell they're doing. She's beautifully colored.
ikr pet stores sell so many horrible things, meanwhile market their stores as "one stop shops for everything you need", and say you can learn everything you need to know about your new pets from their "knowledgeable staff" smh
@@nostalgiachu and if people really thought about it they would know how unlikely it is for an 18 year old, that is maybe a high school graduate, to know everything about every single animal they have in they stores. And the amount of people that use the "well the pet store said it's okay so it's fine" and refuse to change anything that is suggested by actual breeders, people like myself that have friends that are breeders and research everything and people that are experts in these animals is just ridiculous.

she may have a crooked nose but she is still so, so cute. I hope she finds a good home. (:
A little derp derp with her crooked face. I hope everything goes well for her and her adorable self gets adopted!

She's such a sweet little thing 🥰
Aw, she is so cute!!!!!!,
If I was a functional enough human to care for an animal and in your area I would definitely adopt from you

Niteangel came out with a new cage and no one has done any reviews on it. Could you do a review and show size comparison???

It hasn't been shipped yet but yes I'm doing a review of Vista and one other new cage.

aww so cute i have a syrian hamster she is in 744 sqaure inches of floor space hope she finds
a good home but i hope she finds a good home :)
poor little emma
Yay, Muchie! You're back!
Btw what haponed with baymax
Good video :)
very off topic but please please please we need the link to the hamster plushie behind youuu
I have a question do only Syrian hamsters get this condition orcam dwarf hamsters also get it
Is the other hamster that you got with her not brachycephalic too? In the video they looked pretty the same with their faces.
Only her as Cruella has a long snout.
This isn’t on topic but is it ok if I have 1-2 females together and what kind of cage should I get?
I’m talking about gerbils
Would reccomend looking up gerbil cage size requirements for where you live
It's so sad to see these brachy hamsters show up more and more. Just shows that pet stores don't give a shit about where they get their animals from.
💜
nice vid :)
Yay
I luv you
😔 So irresponsible for breeders to keep doing this
