Let's have a moment of silence for the braincells we lost along the way. This was worse than expected, and I expected nothing. Thank you for still advocating for small pets! They're family and deserve nothing but the best life possible.

I still dont get why hamsters are marketed to kids. You dont see them during the day, at night they might be loud (using wheels etc), they dont really like human interaction.
My sister got pet rats when she was 12 and they were great. Loved to hang out with her. If a bit destructive tho

yea makes no sense. Ive had mine 2 days now he is curious but I only watch him. If I try to touch him he squeals very loud it’s scary and I feel bad I’m stressing him. I could only imagine if some children got him instead and forced him into being held. He would be so miserable and afraid. He loves borrowing he’s gone 7in deep

plus he waited til like 4am to wake up and slept at 7am he’s on such a weird schedule. I think pet co really stressed him. Plus just a new home he’s very tiered.

The only time I used cloth was to cover the carrier I was using to take my hamster to the vet or picking up from rescue to keep sunlight out of the carrier (make sure cloth is breathable material and does not completely cover all air holes, like draped loosely over handle). Don't use cloth over enclosures because you should keep them in a dimly lit, not bright area. Hamsters prefer dark or twilight. Thanks for showing us why most people are still confused about proper hamster care: most pet stores are promoting their money-making items ☹, not appropriately researched care.

Thank you. It's actually a photo of a snow leopard that we got from a client who was downsizing her home and the story of hers went she traded a horse for these two photos (Cougar on left, Snow Leopard on right). My understanding is that the photographer is famous. But I'm sad to hear horses are traded for objects like that. But that's how ppl view them in the horse community sadly, not all but lots.

I picked up a “hamster care” voucher from a pretty popular pet store one time and I cackled for a while because of the blatant misinformation, the contractions based on what they sell, and the vague language like “give your hamster lots of space” without specifying the minimum.

I hope to go after everyone's care guide, if I can. Gotta educate the general public.

I wonder why that cotton or bamboo nesting isn't off the market. A lot of their stuff is dangerous but they try to justify the "use" of the item. The cages "sometimes" keep the hamster inside, and robos can fit in the tubes, so they are trying to continue selling them despite the fact they are dangerous. But the nesting is useless and dangerous, and no pet owner or company can try to justify it, it's useless.

One thing that would be good to include is hamsters NEED wheels. Minimum 8 inch for dwarves and minimum 10 inch for syrians(though I always recommend 10 inch for dwarves and 12 inch for syrians!)

What are the tips I would like to suggest is that you have the proper size enclosure the proper wheel size the appropriate size water bottle and food before you get a pet of any sort

i NEED your view on pets at home in the uk. after protests they stopped selling colorful cages and made them bigger. went around hyping themselves up saying they are the only 'humane' pet store.. except the cages are still too small!

Ok i need this content because I'm getting a hamster soon. I'm making a large bin cage. People online have been telling me 800 square inches or more so the requirements have gotten larger (or they just live somewhere with better care). But yeah, I'm watching all the hamster videos i can find.

My last and only hamster had a c&c cage I built with seethrough plastic parts. 2 deep 4 wide and 2 high. He loved it to check around after I rearanged in there. changed his landscape, new hut etc

do you think you can make a video explaining the differences between the different types of hamsters, specifically dwarf hamsters and their different needs?

    • @MunchiesPlace
      @MunchiesPlace  2 місяці тому

Possible. Just very lengthy and I'll need to have stock footage of the different types which can be hard to come by for Chinese hamsters.

It's infuriating that more companies don't make bigger cages. There is literally a market for it now.

Make bigger cages & get rid of older, too small, outdated ones. Cause even the Prevue company still makes new ones yet has their tiny hamster cages still for sale. It's just...redic.

I have a question I have been put into a classroom at my job that has a hamster. I would like to take her to my house at night and over the weekends. Would this be too stressful for the hamster? If it is cool what would be a good thing to use for transporting her. She has a bigger space in my house but there is not a very big enclosure at the school. Recommendations would be awesome I just want her to be happy and healthy!

You should just know proper hamster care and adapt to what they specifically need. Like my hamster doesn't like being outside his cage even to play. So, just know your hamster.
