what dose "slide" mean, by the way ?
Hi, slide means to move smoothly and continuously between 2 points. It's also a noun for the children's playground apparatus on which they can slide down.
Very useful video! Thanks!

Please help us with Fin, Bin, Been pronunciation..
Here's a video that should help: ua-cam.com/video/Pjp2ieRrAN8/v-deo.html
hi, I'm a bit confused why is it / ɪɚ / in all dictionaries I've seen same as ( per ) in experience, I'm sure it's pronounced like / ir / but in all dictionaries it's with / ɪr / , is there like an exception when /ɪ/ comes before /r/ it sounds like /i/ ?
Hi, it's just the way they transcribe the diphthongs. It's not actually an /ɪ/ + /ɚ/, but one sliding sound. In my opinion it sounds like /ir/ and not /ɪr/. Same for "or," it's transcribed as /ɔr/ but sounds like /or/.
@@SpeechModification thank you so much, thank you for making confusing things less confusing🙏

[jɪ] (year, yeast) is the only sound I cannot pronounce in the American English. I’m an adult that just got a tongue tie release for a severe anterior tongue tie. My back of the tongue still doesn’t touch the roof. Could that be the reason why I can’t say this sound? I can pronounce the Y sound attached to any other vowel. Is there another sound that I should test myself that requires the back of the tongue to touch the roof? Also, could speech therapy help even with my physical condition?
Hi, the k/g sounds require the mid/back of the tongue to touch the roof of the mouth. If you can do those sounds (gear, keer), you will probably also be able to do the /ji/ combination as well.
@@SpeechModification thanks so much for this information. I can pronounce the k/g sounds. I’ll keep practicing the /ji/ sound
@@CacophonyEuphony yes, keep trying! I have helped people with this by having them say "yes, yeh, yih, yee," trying to get the tongue higher and the vowel higher bit by bit.
Hello everyone
👍🗣️
To be honest...I have difficulties
This one is very challenging for some people. Keep working on other words with "y" like "yes" and "you" and it will help you get "year" eventually.
Unfortunately, can't understand ear year. Need more understanding
It's a tough one to hear. Try saying "yes" and "s," "yell" and "L," and "yeast " and "east" to really listen for that "y" sound.
@@SpeechModification ok,let me practice and feel the difference. And coach,I saw the video about the word serious. It seems r in the middle is tricky. Because r could be a part of r colored vowel And a consonant. Should i say sɪr riəs,or sɪ riəs,one is using both functions of r,one is just using r as a consonant
