@danitho If there weren't such a robust website surrounding the grant, then I would be more suspect (I haven't changed my mind about the fee). The Amber Grant is a scam. I completed the application earlier this year, in the manner described , told my authentic story , paid the fee and never heard anything from them.
Honestly, just because an application is submitted doesn't mean that a grant is awarded. So I don't think it's a scam (if you watched the video, you saw my frustration with having to pay a fee). And there are plenty of grant funders that never respond to all the applicants, unfortunately.

I wonder how many applications they receive each month - it has to be in the hundreds, and they select so few each month. So sorry it didn't work out for you.

This grant fund wants to build a community of female entrepreneurs through these awards, which means they will follow up with you for stories and photos if you win a grant. Here's an overstated example: If you apply for funds to build a marketing campaign, then win the grant and use it to buy new clothes, they'll find out because they will follow up and ask for feedback on your marketing success with their money. Once they see that you don't have a story, they have the right to ask for their money back (This is true of all grants; I've seen it happen). I just checked the website, and see that March is Food and Beverage grant month as well (ambergrantsforwomen.com/business_category/restaurant-food-beverage/)! In terms of commercial space rent, the Amber Grant might cover that, depending on the grant category. Otherwise, check with your local economic development office for opportunities they have (directory: www.eda.gov/grant-resources/economic-development-directory). You've also given me an idea of how to focus an updated video on grants for small business. :)

I wouldnt trust this. I paid for this and I didnt get any type of notice of a winner. Just out of $15.
