Ed Foster recently met the driver instructor who coaches 12 of the current 20 Formula 1 drivers. Rob Wilson uses a strip of Bruntingthorpe and a Vauxhall...
@@joeflanagan9659 if you were tutored by him, would you mind explaining to me how trying to rotate the car mid corner on a fast corner doesnt scrub off speed?
@@coolkid123456100 I would've thought it does. But in doing so you can get the car pointing out the corner straighter and getting the power down sooner. Then any speed lost through the bend is gained back in acceleration.
@@coolkid123456100Haven’t been on a session, but from watching other vids etc. It does scrub off speed, but I believe the idea is that it’s better to concentrate the rotation into a smaller distance than spend the entire bend with the tyres under load, generating more scrub, heat, tyre wear etc. Increase the amount of time with a “flat car” (less scrub, later braking/better acceleration), reduce how much time is spent rotating the car and scrubbing speed and tyres, and reduce the overall distance (short corner) driven around the bend.
This is awesome. Even though it's just a "game",GT7 with a wheel still gives you a feel for flat car. I've felt it for years, just never knew what it was called. Particularly of use thru Suzuka Esses and the"non straight" parts of Spa. Couldn't even begin to try to explain it. "Ya gotta be smoove" is all I could ever say. Or "Ya gotta be smoove until you feel no force on the wheel,THEN switch direction." I was actually driving something "slow"on the game when it clicked.
Let me know brother, Can you show the difference in Early turn in short cornering and Late turn or wider entry cornering? Because it is all about the manipulation and keeping it the Entry more Shorter to get the car linear straight more earlier
@aniketmeshram6598 hard to "show" per se,as I'm not set up for streaming and the like. I can say my "style" is very conventional, very "geometric." Not so much an early turn in for me,as it is getting back on power ASAP regardless of where I turn in. MY Daily Race Deep Forest time is sometimes 2 seconds off pole, but in the race I'm always top 6 after lap one. Usually in a FWD. It really just depends. In Gr4 the power/weight BoP is pretty equal,so I'm really am just trying to get back on power while avoiding 1st and slow 2nd gear corners because of wheels pin. I'm not quite that smooth yet,but I love the challenge of wringing an FF's neck against FR,MR,AWD. Good luck.
@@LeeePowers alright Budd, no problem.. You'll certainly minimize that qualifying gap I believe. Btw great to know about your Racing Consistency, because that becomes actually more difficult once whole field spread out ..
I learn something more from this every time I watch it. Sooner or later, I might understand!
Great stuff!
I just had the Rob Wilson experience yesterday, he had the lamb again!
How much is he, and how can I book him?
@@coolkid123456100 I went as part of a media day event. Not sure if you can just book a session.
