Thank you for showing the step about the propane tank holder. I kept getting the tank holder and the tank support, mixed up. Your video showed a closeup of that step.
This is the best video that I have watched in regards to assembly and seasoning ,slow and very informative! The others go too quickly in regards to this.I did buy the Blackstone seasoning and my grill should be delivered in a couple of weeks from the Canadian supplier!
Thanks for this video. I have been on the fence about buying one because we can never get our cast irons seasoned correctly. But you made me regain my faith!
Two years ago I bought one at the end of the season for 75% off. I love it, much better than a standard grill. Enjoy my friends, many great meals to come.
Thanks for a great video. Was going to wait until this Fall to buy this griddle, since the price may drop, but I just can't wait! I've bookmarked you video so I can go step-by-step with you and Julie once I buy my Blackstone. Soon...very soon. Ha-ha.
I just assembled mine. The only thing I'm not sure about is that silver plate that's located underneath the burners. Did yours come with one? If so, do we remove it? The reason I ask is because mine only had one screw in it, but It seems my griddle didn't come with any other screws to get that sliver plate screwed on right.
3:17 there is a silver piece underneath the burners. Mine came unscrewed lol with no replacement screws. Does it have to be installed or can I leave it off.
hi i just got same one 28 inch had a question bout seasoning it do i keep the heat on high the whole time while doin the seasoning 4x said to do.thanks for video very helpful.we plan cookin flapjacks eggs and burgs and hotdogs.yum later yall.
Congratulations on your new blackstone we love ours and cook on it almost daily so i usually cook on medium to low heat an i go through two 20 lbs tanks a summer.
Question, for I guess anyone on here. My griddle won't turn black completely like yours did in the video. I don't really have room to turn it around like you did to "Play the Wind" on it. Any recommendations from anyone as to what I should do? Or just not even worry about it since I did coat it several times with oil?? TIA
@@Robinson-HomesteadThanks for answering. I turned the burners both up on high and let it run for about 10 or 15 minutes before I even started with the seasoning process and did it several more times, each time waiting until it stopped smoking from the time before. I did around 7 or 8 coatings and still just got like a large black spot in the middle with about 3-4 inches all the way around it. But I did use it for the first time the other day frying some hand sliced country ham on it and it stuck initially, but after I turned the flame down to about a medium high heat, it didn't stick any more after and turned out pretty good to me. Thanks again for responding.
@@parrodii3140you could take off the griddle and turn it 180 degrees so that the from is in the back and the back is in the front and that should coat all of your grill.
Kevin, I have been debating one myself, I have a gas grill, an electric smoker and a pellet grill, having a little issue with storing everything, I am not the best at keeping my cast iron pan seasoned well, I have seen a lot of videos of people having to remove rust from the grill, from not using it enough. A lid would be a great idea, it would help with humidity and moisture. I do watch the flat top king, and you can cook anything on them, I do want one, a sale just might get it done for me, thanks.
I have learned that you let it cool down after it stop smoking, then add your next coat of oil, then let it smoke/burn off and then let it cool down, repeat again and again. This is also why your paper towel came apart, it was too hot, needed to let it cool down.
If you have a Model 1885 28" griddle, it will warp because the griddle top has a manufacturing/engineering defect that will not allow it to lock in place. The holes are actually about 1/2" too close together. If you drill out the back of the back holes so the front pins will lock into place, it will be a lot less likely to warp. You can easily see this by locking the front pins in place while keeping the back pins out of the holes. When you then set the back of the cooking surface down, you will see the back pins are behind the existing holes. Pretty easy fix with a drill and round file. Other than that, mine is great! For the price, I didn't mind having to drill a couple holes.
Would anyone happen to know the measurements of just the griddle? I'm building an outdoor kitchen and would like to know if it will work with my design 28" in specific
The 28" model 2325 griddle is designed to not go below 400 degrees. So be aware of this before buying one. Not sure of others but have blackstone email stating this.
Great video, thank you!! By chance did you end up with 2 extra screws?! Because I did and can’t figure out why 😂😂 I don’t have volume at the moment to listen to your video, but can’t seem to figure it out!!
Do not buy this unless you realize this griddle is designed to not go below 400 degrees and has no air gap adjustment to balance out the two sides. Also if you buy it from some where other than directly from Blackstone they will not support any griddle. Good luck.
BUYER BEWARE!!!!! I'm sure these product may be good. I don't know as mine arrived damaged and doesn't work. My brand new Model 1550 came with a broken ignitor button and missing bolts. I completely understand this stuff can happen, but the worst thing I've dealt with is that you cannot contact anyone directly. Blackstone uses and AI chat bot and it will not provide a phone number to contact customer support. When I contacted the seller they stated I had to contact Blackstone before they could accept the return. This will be the first and last time I purchase a Blackstone due to horrible customer service.

I do see a sliver plate under there on one side but didn't have to put it on.
@Robinson-Homestead thanks for your response. I'm gonna remove that dang thing asap then lol
I was curious if we were supposed to remove this metal plate as well
Thank you.

I would say is there just to keep air from blowing up under there you may want to see if can get back on David.
I need to return the 36in griddle. The 28 in looks big enough

Yes I do.
Thanks for the comment.
After you removed the giant sticker that was on the griddle did you notice any sticky areas on the griddle surface? I did
No I don't think I had any on mine but it should burn off when you light it up.
i want to place this on a counter. can the legs be taken off completely or can I operate the grill with the legs folded?
Should.
I just got this myself . How long does a tank of propane last on average? What heat setting do you usually use it on ?
Congratulations on your new blackstone we love ours and cook on it almost daily so i usually cook on medium to low heat an i go through two 20 lbs tanks a summer.
Why'd you use spray tonseason?
That is seasoning spray for cast iron skillets so it is fine to use on the blackstone.
How many times can you use the tank to cook?
I'm not sure but it's a lot thanks for the comment and watching.
Is the hissing sound normal?
I don't think so check for leaks.

As long as your food isn't sticking it should be fine. I was wondering are you getting it hot enough when you season it?

Just spraying would’ve been enough. The paper towel is for when you’re dumping the oil/conditioner on there, to help spread it out
