Ok, I fixed it enough to not get blocked but please excuse the crappy resolution during the actual song/video as that is the part that gets blocked so I had to make due! Hope you can enjoy regardless! Cheers!
Devin's gone through phases as a musician throughout his whole currie. The Strapping was a band from his wilder phase. I first found him when he was singing in a band called Vai, which was Steve Vai's project and his voice struck already at that time. About the live performance, I've seen Devin live twice and he always shines happiness around him. His a true performer.
Outstanding reaction! One of the best. A true reaction, not just a review. Glad you went into this without expectations... as you learned will disappoint with Devins' music
Oh boy is he! I've been following him since 1999. I randomly came across the song Life, and never looked back. It's odd how my taste in music changed the same way his music had too. A lot of these new listeners dont quite understand the wall of sound or why he does what he does, until they listen to his back catalog. But traveling alongside the music as it was released made a lot of sense. I always preach Devins music at a near jehovah's witness level of dedication
@@captainmorgan1978 - I was going to ask if you were down for that one. As you definitely have a music background, based on what you talk about like time signatures and such, but you just beat me to it. A lot of people comment that it's just a bunch of songs thrown together, but its VERY constant, and the segways are seamless. I feel you'll be pleasantly surprised. Have you heard it yet? I like that your reactions are genuine and you seem to really enjoy the surprise. Keep up the good work. I'm surprised you dont have more subs. I'll spread the good word
@@mattmain237 thanks man I appreciate it... I never do songs I have heard before... Except the DT old album ones and I only did that because someone asked me to do it. Singularity has been the most requested since the last video so that's why I picked it. I am looking forward to it. I have yet to be disappointed by a Devin song... Although Mighty Masturbator was my least favorite for sure. Lol
The way I got into Devin's music was just by listening to all of his albums at random, and not paying attention to what songs people thought I should listen to. You'll be rewarded because every album of his is different, and he constantly surprises you with all kinds of twists and turns. He's a different kind of progressive. Not as technical as Dream Theater, but then again- he doesn't need to be.
agreed, he is definitely all over the board so far and enjoying it so far. Even though I respect your thought on not listening to other people's suggestions do you have any? it doesn't matter if I like it or not I respect Mr P's opinion in music so it would be good to hear what you like best by him :)
@@captainmorgan1978 The first album I heard by Devin was "Terria." It still is my favorite - or at least one of my favorites. The song "True North" is also one of my faves from the Epicloud album. The "Addicted" album is stellar. And if you're in the mood for something completely different then I highly recommend his album simply called "Ki."
You’ve only scratched the surface of Devon’s Music . He has extreme metal albums ,prog metal albums a new age album. He’s done 2 Metal musicals . A Country/folk album . His new album is a mix of all that . He’s a one of a kind .
Deadhead is a good one. I know I was one of the people that said to hold off on deadhead, just because it is so often done, and I tend to like the more technical ones. I like the sound, I like the vocals. I never skip it when I listen to the live albums it is on. I just favor his more progressive stuff. not saying jump to it on reaction videos, but just on your one if you listen to some of the album Empath, on your own time, musically it is just spectacular: Genesis, Singularity, Borderlands, Evermore. Such amazing tracks. The vocals are obviously there, but musically it’s some of his most ambitious efforts.
How to make you interested for a reaction to the band Blotted Science? If I told you that there is an indirect link between this band and... Jordan Rudess. Ok, now I get your attention. Rudess appeared as a guest (short appearance) on a song from the band Behold the Arctopus. The song is called Transcient Exhuberance if you want to look up. The drummer in Behold the Arctopus is Charlie Zeleny. It appears that Zeleny is also the drummer on the first Blotted Science album The Machination of Dementia. I guess that if Rudess accepted to be a guest in Behold the Arctopus it must be because he had respect for the art of these guys. Which in some way should indicate you that Blotted Science music is no joke. And best argument that I can have is: no chance that a reaction to them be blocked. So, do I need to say more to convince you? Blotted Science song Synaptic Plasticity (audio version, not the guitar tutorial one).
Bobby Jarzombek respectfully declined when Dream Theater asked him to come audition. I don't understand why Ron and Bobby don't play more stuff together.
Your reaction is awsome. Of course Devy is the best vocalist ever. And you're heard nothing yet. You can trust me. "Deadhead" is a Masterpiece... But Devin composed like 250 songs at least. And always the same songs reacted... Please again captain, react to "AAA" from Strapping Young Lad or "Man" from Devin Townsend. Never done in reactions yet. You'll be blown away for sure.

Sweet thanks for the more proggy suggestions Rusty :) Will do!
You should listen to "secret Sciences" for the drumming Ryan kills it on that album
His drumming is deifnitely good!
This was over 2hrs in to the 3 hour set.
Yea DT does those kinds of sets at times too and it is crazy...respect!~
