Thanks for the epic demo Cici (as is tradition). It's convinced me to pick one of these up. My bank manager will be upset...but he's not a musician and he drives an Audi so...
I too remember seeing Duff McKagan playing an all black iteration of this bass in Velvet Revolver and thinking “oh my god, I need to own a bass like that someday.” It just looked so cool and given that Duff is one of the coolest people alive, it made it seem that much cooler
These are my favorite basses ever. They feel like nothing else out there, they're an absolute pleasure to play. And there's very few that look at good and sound as good.
I really do wish fender would offer all the finishes across both models of bass. They have a tendency to do this, which is quite frustrating. That white finish on the P bass would look lovely on the jazz.
I bought one of the Aerodyne P basses in white. The craftsmanship is unbelievable. The neck pocket fit is better than my Am Pro II. Sounds and plays great. Only problem is the neck dive.
My AmPro2 P bass has the same issue. The base of the neck fits snug on one side, but there's too much space on the opposite side. Doesn't affect playing, tho, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up an Aero P this year.
Bought one a few hours ago. I lost track of how long I was playing it in the store; it was that good. Bought the PB/J pickup option, all black (like my heart). Love the uncluttered no pick guard look and feel.
@@gus3333the dive on the pbass was awful with the light body. I played one at GC. Interested in the jazz but they didn’t have any in at the time. Just the white p. Aside from Neck dive it’s a looker of a bass. Really nice.
Have the original Aerodyne jazz - this is the Japanese domestic market model with P/J pickups, dolphin grey, with the chrome scratch plate that I purchased at Ishibashi in Ochanomizu, Japan back 2003 or 2004, I own an Okamoto P bass, Mex Player jazz fretless and a US Jazz but the Aerodyne, with black tape wound strings just looks amazing and is my favourite Fender bass to play And yes I totally prefer the scratch plate model I have over the overseas market models without scratchplate
Absolutely love my original black aerodyne which has served me well for over 10 years. Only problem I have with it is the gloss black finish is a fingerprint magnet and I’ve long since given up trying to keep it clean! Love the look of the new sunburst J, but £1300 seems steep
Lee the first series that came out had different colors and a pickguard with a pj setup. The second series of the Aerodyne was in all black, still with the pj setup and yes Duff McKagan did play one of those. The was also a signature one for Frank Bello. The Aerodyne is one of my favorite bass guitars. You can headbang for hours with a Aerodyne. Love the white p-bass that Cici has and new California Blue jazz 🤘🏼
They really make a guitarist want to play bass. Amazing jams. I find myself picking up a guitar trying to figure out what the hell Lee is doing on some of those runs. Brilliant stuff.
I love my Aerodyne, and went to my local shop to buy one of these new ones. How this bass went from $800 - $1400 is beyond explanation. Fender has lost their minds.
Rumour has it, MIJ were losing money because of manufacturing the body shape (having to designate valuable CC time to the Aerodynes) on such a limited volume. Again, just a rumour...but it sounds plausible.
I bought my first Fender brand P-Bass this year. It’s a black Player edition. I’m still drooling over the green Aerodyne P-Bass though. Thanks for another great presentation!
You guys are so fun and inspiring. There is a aerodyne here on my local used marked, mint condition. Really want one, but even used, it cost a bit. So I don’t know. Maybe I end up with a Sire P7 instead, white in pj configuration. You can act out your inner Duff McKagan with that too🤩
Had a 2012 deluxe strat. Walked into local guitar shop, played one of these, and a telecaster acoustasonic. Went home, had an acoustasonic ordered within the hour and planning on selling my strat for this bass and a super nice amp set up for both the bass n acoustasonic.
An early-50s style headstock would have helped with the neck dive on the P-Bass. Would have looked really unique if they kept the matching finish on it too, as I don't think any other 50s style neck has ever had that (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).
Great vid as always - gotta say I'm disappointed there aren't any black models in this run, that's always the colour I think of for the Aerodyne series
I owned a black Fender Aerodyne bass for a few seasons. Sold it, as fabulous as it was. It was SO PRETTY I was afraid to scratch it or put fingerprints on it!!
They look cool. I have the original aerodyne in black with the cream binding. Played with it for years. Plays nice but grew to hate the thin body which dug into my forearm and tone was also quite thin I found because of it
The white p is sweet. BUT, like they pointed out I played one in my local shop and the neck dive was horrible. A wide strap may offset it but in the lap it was pretty bad.
I wonder if replacing the tuners with Hipshot Ultralites, or Gotoh Res-o-lite tuners would cure the neck dive? I installed hipshot ultralites on my Yamaha Attitude which cured the moderate neck dive inherent in that bass.
It will. Hipshot ultralites are that good. I even have it on my Squiers lol. As expensive as they are, it's the experience of no neck dive you are paying for.
Are there any more of these basses available? I really like the green precision bass version! PS, are people happy with them? They look beautiful but are they fun to play?
Good-looking and sounding basses with the impeccable craftsmanship you'd expect of MIJs. An interesting choice of wood here though, I must say. That makes it a lighter instrument and makes it easier to put a slight carve into the top, I wonder if this will affect the resonance?
I've got one -- acoustically they're deader than Jazz basses, and the Japanese pickups are less powerful than the US versions, but I've found that flatwounds on them seem to bring out the personality they were intended for (which isn't metal, though a lot of metal bassists play them).
It raises the question of why the traditional models have pick guards. Even if you play a bass with a pick you're not going to strumming away on the thing.
Don’t really need a pick guard on a bass, but they do look naked without one. I think it looks right though for this “aero” sleek shape and design - uncluttered. I could get used to it.
I am a big of gloss necks. For us those of us "roundwound on fretless" players it is neat having "brakes". In other words, stop with all the satin necks dang it.
I really enjoyed getting to play these, big fan of the no scratch plate here! :)
I’m a massive fan of no scratch plate (I’m a huge Jeff Ament fan and I love his solid colour basses).
Thanks for the epic demo Cici (as is tradition).
It's convinced me to pick one of these up.
My bank manager will be upset...but he's not a musician and he drives an Audi so...
I agree. Especially the Jazz Bass looks awesome!
I do like the attack you get with your technique - very snappy. Much enjoyed. Great pairing of bassists in this vid, thanks!
@@TenFalconsMusic a new bass will probably make you infinitely more money than that Audi ever will lol
Cici & Lee have great chemisty as presenters and do some really interesting jams. I don't even play Bass and find these entertaining. Great work.
Yes but they play anything but grooves. Do Pete and the Captain play bass lines?
@Benoit Dufresne
Not sure if Captain & Pete know how to play a bass line.
Noodle salad seems to be their thing.
These two (Lee and Cici) are simply brilliant together. Addictive viewing. Best on UA-cam.
I too remember seeing Duff McKagan playing an all black iteration of this bass in Velvet Revolver and thinking “oh my god, I need to own a bass like that someday.” It just looked so cool and given that Duff is one of the coolest people alive, it made it seem that much cooler
I have one the same and was lucky enough to get Duff to sign it in 2012 whilst on tour with Walking Papers

These are good looking basses and the pickups seem alright. I imagine the quality control is decent, too, coming from Japan. Thanks.
I have a 1986 Jazzbass Special Japan. It is all black, like all black and also has no scratchboard which really is no problem. Its a beauty 😊
Love the fenders that come out of Japan :) aerodyne are always lovely
I love the minimalist look of these and I'm in camp "no scratch plate looks great!".

really nice as usual 🙌 p.s no pickguard looks good esp on the white colour
I could listen to these two jam all day! Great stuff.
Same! They listen to each other! The other (drunk) bassist doesn't seem to listen to anyone else play.
The sunburst is gorgeous. ❤️
They really make a guitarist want to play bass. Amazing jams. I find myself picking up a guitar trying to figure out what the hell Lee is doing on some of those runs. Brilliant stuff.
Cici and Lee is great; Nathan and Lee is great. Would Lee, Cici and Nathan be greatest?! I think we need to find out.

@@TenFalconsMusic sadly I think it’s just post covid price rises and corporate greed.
Where have you been? It costs like four bucks for a loaf of bread.
That was a particularly nice opening jam. Really enjoyed it!
... 😮😯😲... WoW ! The White Bass really suits you CiCi and that Tone is a "Firecracker... ...
Those bridges are Babicz full contact bridges that Fender decided to use on theses basses. SWEET!
Had one on my Squier VM all maple Jazz Bass since 2008 - excellent bridge.
I bought my first Fender brand P-Bass this year. It’s a black Player edition. I’m still drooling over the green Aerodyne P-Bass though. Thanks for another great presentation!
That main overall melody is beautiful guys. That's a hit if you ask me.

Been a while since I've tuned in for any bass content, but this one caught my eye and the playing was fantastic! Great job Andertons! 🤘
That outro jam was nice!
Cici is such an awesome player....

A Cici signature model white with red binding Aerodyne P bass 😜 😜
I got myself the aerodyne jazz in dolphin gray, saving up for a white precision
Cici rocks!!
Just got my California Blue Aerodyne..with a great set up from the company....excellent bass!!
Previous generation of Aerodyne had a PJ configuration for the Jazz Bass and was available in black, shame that didn't carry over.
I played this at our local store. I like the tones and they sounded better than the other Fenders that are twice the price.
They look cool. I have the original aerodyne in black with the cream binding. Played with it for years. Plays nice but grew to hate the thin body which dug into my forearm and tone was also quite thin I found because of it
That white one is perfect as it is no scratch plate.
The Jazz would look cool with a single ply white plate.
The white p is sweet. BUT, like they pointed out I played one in my local shop and the neck dive was horrible. A wide strap may offset it but in the lap it was pretty bad.

Thanks, love the Aerodyne axes!

The Jazz looks nice, reminds me the (even nicer) Warwick Lee Sklar signature bass.
really beautyfull without pickguard
71 years of building basses and Fender haven't figured out how to fix neck dive. Maybe next year.
They did in the late ‘70s by making the bodies heavy as hell 😁 Still love my ‘79 P though.
Cici, how would you compare this P-bass with your Schecter P-bass? Kinda thinking of getting one or the other...
Rolled fret boards?
Can we hear some fender aerodyne strat and tele as well?
Would lightwave pickups work better.
They both sound so good. Asking me to decide for a P or J bass is like asking which I like best: tacos or wine😂
i would also like to see a deadspot check
Does the body radius match the fretboard radius? Or not necessarily?
You should have run through one of those Marshalls, then run it through the GK for a pre-amp and get your Jack Bruce”Cream” tone on..
Both of those are very nice
I just thought...we haven't seen Nathan for a whole. I guess he's busy touring these days after all the lockdown madness ended.
Hey... I need to pull out my 2011 American Standard J-bass...
Best thing about bass - it won't cause any trebble!
=^.^=
The black with red inlay would be Very Metal.
Fender Japan leading the way again
2:58 Cici: "I really like that."
Mr Talks Too Much: "No, you're in love with this."
The bollocks on this guy.
Shut it and let Cici do the demo.
It raises the question of why the traditional models have pick guards. Even if you play a bass with a pick you're not going to strumming away on the thing.
Plucking and thumping can be easier due to less travel
Curious, what drummer in a box are you using?
I was curious as well, so I brought up this video on my PC and zoomed in. Its a Boss RC-10R.
For me, the lack of scratch plate looks weird on the burst but looks great on the white...
Opposite way round for me 🤣
Nice basses!
We need opinions on neck dive more often. Bass players seldom work sitting down.
Ever so tasteful playing by Lee 🎶

I really like the cali blue… but Im still thinking😅
The only Aerodyne basses I've ever seen were in black in a P/J configuration.
Please use a pick as well
I don't play with a pick, and dont miss the pickguard
I like Cici, but... sure do miss Nathan!!!
The blue Jazz bass is the cats meow
😍😍😍😍
I hate no actually ‘despise’ scratchplates so I’ve always liked the aerodyne range! Why ruin a good piece of wood with a tacky piece of plastic
No 5 string ?
These new "Special' models go for 1350 USD or £1,199
Looks good, sounds good, but basswood is a no-go for me. Too subject to damage and doesn't hold hardware well.
Out of sheer curiosity what happened to Nathan? 🤣🤣
I didn’t know Addison’s boyfriend was this good on bass!
Yea. Yea. Yea.
A gig bag at that price point is ridiculous
