- US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Saudi Arabia as part of a new push to broker a cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas.
He's set to meet with leaders of Gulf Arab states - who've been mediating a plan for a truce and the return of hostages held in Gaza since the Hamas-led terror attack on October 7. At the same time, a Hamas delegation is expected to meet Egyptian officials in Cairo for talks also aimed at securing an agreement.
The negotiations are taking place, as the threat of a ground invasion continues to loom over Rafah, where over half of Gaza's population is sheltering.

It is very painful to see what is happening to the civilians in Rafah, but those responsible for this are not Israel, the USA, the UK or the other Western countries. Dont get me wrong. I have the same opinion on Israeli settlers who do exacly the same thing - having plenty of children.
If people could think about potential future of their children before having them, instead of having them and then thinking about their future, we could have much different world.
If Hamas finally agree to a deal, which they've rejected for months on end now, it's only because Israel finally is ready to go into Rafah. Without that pressure, they would have no incentive to compromise. Israel should have given Hamas this deadline a long time ago.
