  • I LOVE these Whole Baked Onions and they are so simple to make. Onions, Bouillon (or Bouillon Cubes), Butter and maybe some pepper or any seasoning you like are the only ingredients needed for these. Wrap them tightly in aluminum foil and bake. An easy, flavorful, gluten free side dish!
    Gluten Free Bouillon Options:
    Herb Ox Bouillon - amzn.to/2W307RY
    Orrington Farms Beef Bouillon - amzn.to/3maufpG
    Ingredients:
    Yellow or Sweet Onions
    1 tsp Gluten Free Bouillon or Gluten Free Bouillon Cube per Onion (Use Your Favorite Flavor)
    1 ½ - 2 Tbs. Butter
    Directions
    1. Cut the top and bottom off of the onion(s) to create a flat surface
    2. Remove skin from the onion(s)
    3. Cut a 1” or so cone out of each onion(s) top and reserve.
    4. Add bouillon to the onion.
    5. Add butter to the bouillon.
    6. Replace reserved onion.
    7. Wrap tightly in aluminum foil
    8. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350ºF for about an hour.

      It mellows out the strong onion taste but it's definitely for those who like the taste of onions:)

    I saw an old recipe that told you just leave the skin on it cook it like that then take the skin right off when it's done

    Love this! Mom taught me this years ago. Most times I use Allegro original liquid seasoning and butter, and it turns out wonderful to serve with steak and veggies. Nice video. THANKS!

    Put a little brown sugar in there or maple syrup!

      I have recently read that aluminium foil can melt and drip into your food.

    • @SavorySaver
      @SavorySaver  5 місяців тому +5

      @@carolbrownleehalbert3593 I had not heard that. Aluminum foil has a melting point of 660F so someone must have been using a very hot oven. Thank you for watching!

      It's ok to cover a dish with foil when baking, but it's a poor idea to bake IN the foil. Too much aluminum will ultimately cause cognitive problems.

    • @SavorySaver
      @SavorySaver  4 місяці тому +1

      @@oldad6207 I would try covering the dish itself to see how it does if that is what you are most comfortable with.

    You don’t peel them or use foil.
