Bro, remember back in Amazon Lily arc, when Gloriosa (old woman) told Hancock about the previous empress who nearly died due to falling in love with a pirate but managed to prevent death by leaving Amazon lily and going with him, that's actually Shakky and the pirate she fell in love with was Rayleigh.
Back on Sabaody Island, there was a flashback of Shanks meeting Rayleigh and saying that he met a little boy who said he had the same dream as Roger. Now we know clearly that the dream in question is not to be the Pirate King, because wanting to be the Pirate King is the wish of many other pirates. However, this is a dream that only Roger and Luffy specifically want, and can only be realized if they become the Pirate King.
The title pirate king was invented by the people after roger found laugh tale. So we knew since the oden flashback that roger's dream couldn't have been to become pirate king, meaning luffy's dream couldn't be either
When Roger found the One Piece, he laughed and said "Joyboy, I wish I could meet you" and now this crew reaction to Luffy's Dream. Shanks was even in tears. I always thought that Roger NEVER conquered the One Piece. He did find it, but he never conquered it. I believe the reason is because only Joyboy's power can unlock the One Piece which was locked by the previous Nika.
Right on, when luffy tells about his dream and brook starts laughing my initial thought was its the laughtale story, zoro and jimbe seemed more shocked thinking such thing wouldnt be possible. I feel like the same would be said for the roger crew, if they would meet some one with this dream it would probally get some weird faces but them actually having witnissed of what it is made them all laugh. When Shanks met Rayleigh he said "in south blue there is a boy who has the same dream as Captain Roger" Therefore Shanks risked his hand for Luffy, from there it already looks strange, why would Shanks want to risk his hand just for a boy who said "I will become the Pirate King" Surely there are other words and finally answered in this episode that Luffy's dream is not only to become the Pirate King.
We can guess Luffy's dream like it could be anything Some theories is that, Luffy's dream is he want to have a biggest banguet, he will free all people and races, he wants the marines and pirates to be good friends It's definitely hard to guess what is Luffy's dream right now. Luffy isn't that smart to free people, its not the work of pirates , the revolutionary army does that... They said its impossible, also luffy said that dream as a kid , so its silly yet interesting

That dream was planned already during the marienford arc when luffy's backstory was shown he just said that " i am gonna" then they cut the scene. They also showed it when Roger talked with whitebeard and WB replied "that's a child's dream". During the sabounty arc shanks also said to reyligh that " there is a kid who said the exact same thing as our captain" And in 1015 they showed the both mention scene of luffy and roger combined
Caribou also don't know about the end of Luffy's dream. A reader asked Oda about this in the SBS of volume 107 and Oda clearly stated. Caribou was quite sealed inside the barrel and he didn't seem to hear much outside noise. He actually faintly could only be heard that Luffy yelled "Let's go to Marijoa".

I realized that Luffy didn't just want the fame of being the Pirate King, but rather that he wanted to become the Pirate King as a way to achieve his dream. Just like he easily gave the treasure to Buggy in Impel Down, if he realizes his dream and doesn't need the fame of being the Pirate King, would he just give Buggy the title?😂
Luffy's dream is so ridiculous that after hearing some people laughs and some people thinks that Luffy is crazy. I don't think it's like having a grand party with every people on earth or free every people because that's plausible dream. His dream is something unbelievable.
How's that a plausible dream when the whole world is being ran by the tyrannical world government? It's like saying in the real world that your dream is world peace when you know that China, North Korea, Russia and all the terrorist organizations like isis, etc. in the Middle East exist.
Remember, shanks was the only one who cried when hearing luffy say his dreams because Roger said the same thing. That's why Shanks told Rayleigh that Luffy spoke the same thing that Roger did.
Luffy doesn't list her here or in the manga, but just based off of the context of events we have Yamato is also aware of what Luffy's true dream is. That's probably a big part of why Oda didn't have her go with the Straw Hats after Wano (that and the fact that there crew is already stacked enough with Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Jinbe).
That new version of "We Are" gives me too much goosebumps and I love it. They nailed it together with Luffy's dream, damn 100% awesomeness. Also, more insane revelations to come, awesome fights and backstories too that make everyone cry even a bit.
In One Piece Film Red, Uta asked why Luffy wants to become a Pirate King. He answered, "To build a New Era" and if we connect to what he said to Kaido, where anyone can eat as much as they want

The anime ended 2023 on a great spot. There's a ton to look forward to in 2024 and I can't wait. As for Luffy's dream, I think the One Piece itself will be a key to it. The Roger Pirates laughed when they saw the One Piece. I wonder if it's something only Luffy truly understands or something seemingly insignificant but to Luffy it's something useful.
Coming from someone who is an anime-only (well, not for long since I bought the 4 manga box sets earlier today), I'd guess the dream is to set the whole world free. I can be and probably is wrong, it wouldn't surprise me, and what I truly mean by "setting the whole world free" is a mystery even to me. It's just something that randomly popped up in my head. Remember the flashback in sabaody when shanks told rayleigh about a boy in east blue that had the same dream as roger,now we know what the dream is,not pirate king because most of the pirates said the same thing about becoming the pirate king and not special.

But that "We Are" just hit different especially for someone like me who already following this series over 20 years (I started from Usopp village). As a person who doesn't watch every One Piece episodes (I only watch some reactions and if I like the episode I'm checking it again after the reaction). His dream is probably the thing that make me want to be up to date. Those episodes are pure art

Remember after Marineford when Shakky predicted that Boa would fall in love with Luffy and told Rayleigh to go there. Relieving that she was Empress of Amazon Lily gives context to how she would know that. Crazy reveal imo, I'm mad I couldn't predict it.

Everyone's theory regarding Luffy's dream is to bring the whole earth together regardless of whether they are part of the navy or even revolutionaries. Even if their race is different whether he is Lunaria or even fishmen. In order to achieve the largest "banquet" in the world as at the end of each arc. It turns out that Oda is a big fan of Asterix and Obelix (a very well-known comic strip here in France)

I have a feeling Luffys dream is gonna be something crazy like ending the pirate era, or bringing pirates and the navy together to stop fighting. Because his whole thing is about being free, and everyone being happy and being able to laugh and eat good food, so maybe with a combination of his personality, and Joyboys, he has a burning urge to bring everyone together? just my own theory
That’s my theory as well. Another theory circling around is that Luffy wants to go to outer space/moon and gain unlimited freedom. Even though I feel like Luffy will go to the moon before he becomes king of the pirates, Luffy wanting everyone to be free makes more sense to me.

That's the main reason why I consider Oda to be the GOAT of manga, because he writes the story the certain way, when fans can draw their narratives based on mysteries in one piece, and there are so much theories about them, and you can never count any of them out, because one piece is truly unpredictable. This is the MAGIC of One Piece, and that's what gets fans involved heavily in the story.

I think Luffy's dream is to go to the Sun. Just think about all the recent themes and imagery about the Sun - the Sunny, the Dawn, Sun God Nika, etc. When he mentions his dream in this episode, he even runs and jumps towards the Sun. He also mentions how Ace, Sabo, and Shanks, San-nin or 3 people know about it. What if it's actually a clue and wordplay - Sun-nin, a person of the Sun. I thought it was just going to space, but in the real world going to space isn't such a wild idea anymore since we've seen it happen and we know it is possible. But going to the Sun? That's crazy. It sounds stupid and absolutely impossible. That's exactly how the others are reacting too.
If I had to take a wild guess as to what Luffy's true dream is, he sort of hinted at it before he hit Kaido with Bajrang Gun. I believe he said "I want to create a world where my friends can eat as much as they want!" Now, with Luffy's whole thing in Gear 5 being Freedom, I would go ahead and guess that it's something along the lines of: Luffy wants to throw a massive party that encases the entire world, ridding the world of Racism and all other forms of Discrimination, giving true Freedom and Joy to everyone across the world. Though, in Luffy's mind it doesn't go that in depth, he probably just thinks of it as simply a massive party where everyone can endlessly eat. That's just my theory 😅
Becoming king of the pirates was never his dream, he actually wants to become king of the pirates because it’s what will make him able to fulfill his actual dream, which we don’t know of. My opinion: he wants to make a banquet on the moon with all the races in the world
What interesting to me from this scene is that we now realize that One Piece is not only about Luffy searching for One Piece and become the king of the pirates. There is something more beyond that. The One Piece and the title king of the pirates is not the end goal, but this Luffy's dream that could only be achieved by him becoming king of the pirates.
the only thing is which is impossible is for marine and pirates to get along and i think what luffy wants is to create a world where all the people are free and for marine and pirates to get along

That’s my theory as well. Another theory circling around is that Luffy wants to go to outer space/moon and gain unlimited freedom. Even though I feel like Luffy will go to the moon before he becomes king of the pirates, Luffy wanting everyone to be free makes more sense to me.

That's the main reason why I consider Oda to be the GOAT of manga, because he writes the story the certain way, when fans can draw their narratives based on mysteries in one piece, and there are so much theories about them, and you can never count any of them out, because one piece is truly unpredictable. This is the MAGIC of One Piece, and that's what gets fans involved heavily in the story.

I think Luffy's dream is to go to the Sun. Just think about all the recent themes and imagery about the Sun - the Sunny, the Dawn, Sun God Nika, etc. When he mentions his dream in this episode, he even runs and jumps towards the Sun. He also mentions how Ace, Sabo, and Shanks, San-nin or 3 people know about it. What if it's actually a clue and wordplay - Sun-nin, a person of the Sun. I thought it was just going to space, but in the real world going to space isn't such a wild idea anymore since we've seen it happen and we know it is possible. But going to the Sun? That's crazy. It sounds stupid and absolutely impossible. That's exactly how the others are reacting too.

If I had to take a wild guess as to what Luffy's true dream is, he sort of hinted at it before he hit Kaido with Bajrang Gun. I believe he said "I want to create a world where my friends can eat as much as they want!"
Now, with Luffy's whole thing in Gear 5 being Freedom, I would go ahead and guess that it's something along the lines of:
Luffy wants to throw a massive party that encases the entire world, ridding the world of Racism and all other forms of Discrimination, giving true Freedom and Joy to everyone across the world. Though, in Luffy's mind it doesn't go that in depth, he probably just thinks of it as simply a massive party where everyone can endlessly eat.

Becoming king of the pirates was never his dream, he actually wants to become king of the pirates because it’s what will make him able to fulfill his actual dream, which we don’t know of.
My opinion: he wants to make a banquet on the moon with all the races in the world
What interesting to me from this scene is that we now realize that One Piece is not only about Luffy searching for One Piece and become the king of the pirates. There is something more beyond that. The One Piece and the title king of the pirates is not the end goal, but this Luffy's dream that could only be achieved by him becoming king of the pirates.
As a manga reader seeing Kuma this episode actually made me tear up,manga readers will know why😢
