For others, try going onto your recording devices, right click your microphone, go to properties, then go to the enhancements tab, tick noise suppression and acoustic echo cancellation! I hope it helps :)
When I set the sensitivity down to 0, there was absolutely no difference, but i set it up to 0.5, and it removed almost all of the buzzing. I moved it up to 0.6 and it was gone.
Thank you!! I had the setting on 6.0 and didn't even know it! XD My problem was the noise removal actually muffled my voice along with removing the noise, and that was driving me bonkers.
I am not very experienced with audio interfaces, however, if you google "focusrite scarllett 2i4 not recognized in Audacity", you should get some help there. If not, you can always contact them, there is a 'Contact Us' tab at the top of the Audacity home page.
I've attempted removing the static buzz this way before ... honestly if you are a avid recorder that produces your own music this isn't good enough for studio quality and you may need an audio interface like i did! expensive but worth it
Whever I turn on my computer microphone.... It starts buzzing. I don't even start recording and don't open audacity.. It still makes a static noise and I don't know why that happens. Can I get help please :'(
To anyone watching this, you want to have the sensitivity somewhere in the middle. Sensitivity 0 will make audacity not consider anything as noise to be reduced, and max sensitivity will make it consider even the non-static noises as static
The reason your voice gets deleted is because you're selecting parts of your voice when you "Get Noise Profile." To get an accurate noise profile you need to highlight the white noise space. Then when you turn the slider all the way to 48 for noise reduction, it reduces everything up to the highest parts of the white noise levels leaving your voice/audio behind. Be smart about which noise profile you use and you'll get better results. Remember, stupid in equals stupid out.
Hey! Is it possible to remove people talking in the background on shows when music is playing? Because I am really wanting this music from this show, But when It plays. There are people talking in the background! Please reply quickly!
This is stupid. there's a lot of ways to get rid of static that are not on the voice but comes before the voice. you can cut it mute it noise reduction it YES SIMPLE. BUT GOD WHY ISNT THERE A VIDEO ON HOW TO GET RID OF THE STATIC DURING THE VOICE like when someone is talking and you hear static and voice at same time. I need help with that
If you like this video or follow my channel, please make sure to subscribe to my Tutorials channel that I am now active on! Here you'll all kinds of videos just like these about computer tutorials, tricks, guides, and software guides too! ua-cam.com/channels/q6rOg2CKryE6W_I4-j2g_w.html
Thanks! I have a video that had a very annoying cricket in the audio. Using your instructions, I was able to remove the cricket and keep the rest of the audio.
A note for everyone saying that your voice gets deleted and that parts of your voice are deleted, in the video I state that each microphone will need different types of settings when removing the static. You're going to have to play around with the noise reduction, sensitivity, and all those options in the Noise Removal effect box. These settings worked best for me, and if they work for you, then great, if not, move the bars around and see what works best.
Thanks for the video. To get rid of the buzzing oceanic noise in the background, I highlighted the infected area, I set the sensitivity to 0. Noise level up to its highest, then clicked Residue and it got ride of the noise. This is for the dead air after each sentence. That noise was getting on my nerves.
I tried the noise removal thing with a song that had allot of static noise in the intro when the drums were not playing and all the noise removal did was lower the volume of the song!!!!!! Someone please tell me how I can remove static noises from a song without the volume being lowered!!!!!!!!!!!
Many years ago I recorded external audio from a TV set speaker using a portable tape recorder and attached microphone. The audio from the TV set speaker sounded great. When playing the cassette tape, however, there was a constant background buzz/hum. Will Audacity remove the buzz/hum and how is this done? I have a few tapes already converted to WAV/MP3. If possible can you please help me with that? Thanks - ROB.
Thank you for this video @GSmaniamsmart, I am on my seventh short film postproduction and I have a bar scene where i have some noise due to an air condition running, so i would like to remote it and i have the latest version of Audacity where i can sound edit it. Hopefully perfect. ;) Best Regards Bilal
Hi I am trying to record my upstairs neighbors when they get into fights because my apartment manager does not believe me when I say they wake me up in the middle of the night. I only have my phone to record and whenever I try there is always loud static and you can barely hear anything else in the video. Is there a way I can isolate them talking and quiet the static. I tried this method in the video but the audio just sounds like a very high pitched static and I still cannot hear anything else.
I never had this issue until I upgraded audacity. this is BS i should havent to do all this extra stuff to get a decent recording . the update was a compelte downgrade
Hai man I am new to audacity and I just wanna know that how to clear my own song after noise removal and want to give in to a good effect and good echo and load sound and I won’t use any music instrumental for my song need help. Thank you
I know this was ten months ago, but if you're still having problems, make sure to highlight only the part with static in it (the blank sections where on audio is occurring) and get a noise profile of that. That makes sure that Audacity knows to only remove that kind of noise. If you highlight the whole thing, it thinks it wants you to remove all kinds of noise. Hope this helps.
this works for when i'm not talking but do you know how to get rid of static inbetween your voice because you can still here it when i talk for me and if i noise remove that area my voice goes away
+Eric Clapton Live Use noise reduction, record 3 - 5 seconds of silence then go to effects and noise reduction. Click on get noise profile then edit your settings and preview. Bam
what worked for me was basically doing the same thing but putting the sensitivity to the max and make sure ur mic is also recording at max sound because it'll lower.
Nice video. While this method can be useful, it also tends to introduce a lot of digital-sounding phase-shift audio artifacts even at moderate settings, often making clips sound better and more intelligible with the original noise. The audio to this video sounds like it has been processed by Audacity, for example, with moderate noise reduction and the consequential hint of artifacts clearly audible. I used to try Audacity for noise reduction but quickly had to give up because of the audio degradation. The only thing I have tried that really works is RX7 - which is expensive but might be worth it. But then often I think keeping the noise is the best way to go, just like one should never Photoshop photos to make people's skin look smoother as it only makes them look like porcelain dolls rather than real people.
HEY I GOT ANOTHER QUESTION IF U CAN PLEASE HELP ME OUT...SO I FOUND HOW TO REMOVE THE BUZZ MOISE WHEN I RECORD MYSELF SINGING ...AT FIRST IT WAS WORKING FINE I WENT TO NOISE REMOVAL AND IT WAS COMING OUT GREAT AND NOW IM DOING IT AGAIN AND IT TAKE OUT EVEN MY VOICE SO I GOTTA UNDO IT AND I DO IT AGAIN BUT IT KEEPS DOING IT ...DO U KNOW WHAT WILL BE THE SOLUTION TO THIS ...WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED
i Did this to a pre-recoded file and it did remove the Static but it also Lowered my Voice in recordng aswell... Is there somthing that can be done to avoid lowering the volume of everything else?
awesome tutorial! im trying to make YT vids using a shitty headset and couldnt figure out a way to get half decent audio. this really help to reduce the background static.
hey how do u get the two bars with the same thing ur saying into the mic....when i start to sing it shows the top bar how yours is and than the bottom shows a line straight through..can u help me out
I dunno if you still answer questions for this video, but I was just wondering. What if you recorded something and the static was over your talking? Would you still do the same thing?
okay so I have a weird issue with audacity where its not just small parts of buzzing its my entire length of recording giving off a weird buzzing sound like youre standing too close to the speakers. I've tried keeping the mic farther away from my mouth, i've tried normalizing and noise removal. I cant really seem to get this to work and it does the same thing with my built in mic in my laptop. Any helpful tips?
+GSmaniamsmart I have the latest version of Audacity and it does not have noise removal. Instead it has noise reduction. It is not the same as noise removal and it does not have anything from your tab except from Noise Reduction, Sensitivity and Frequency Smoothing(Bands)... I need help

Heads up guys, if you're recording without a microphone and using your laptop or CPU's mic. Turn the mic recording volume down to 20 or 30 so it will pick up less static. However, you will have to play, sing, or talk louder so it picks up. The noise reduction thing did not work for me either.
I have an old audacity, but would like to upgrade to the new one. How reliable is it to download it from your link? I just don't want to download any viruses. Did you download it from there?
I have a new tutorial on my Tutorials channel that goes over the new method. The video should be called how to remove static from video, the same technique applies. Sorry I can't link you, on my way home from finals. See my channel though.
Cheers mate i bought a headset with a mic built in purely because it said noise reduction which i thought meant reduced background noise when recording, it doesn't...face palm. This tutorial works great, thanks again!

Plz help when i record the 5 first sec i have a huge static sound
I have audio cctv where I need to listen to a certain bit but it has a lot of static will this work ?
Yes, but if there's massive amounts of static, removing it may change the quality of some of the audio you may actually want.
VERY helpful vid
If just received a recording of a music show. How do i get the humming buzzing noise out of the show?
+michael jagger Uh? Watch the video?
+GSmaniamsmart I did watch the video, followed the instructions and it was still there
You may need to apply the affect again then, sometimes it takes multiple tries to get rid of it completely especially if it's a very loud static.
No problem.
You're welcome.
Aziz Ansari??
lol wow that's quite observant of you! I thought pretty much only Indian people would be able to pick up on such a subtle accent :)
wow he really does sound like him
Holy shit
I don't Here it
huh
No problem.
Perfect, thanks! I used your tutorial to remove a steady background hum that was recorded from an old VHS tape :-)
Who else watching this in 2020!!😂😂

I did. But when i add the sound file to flash it didn't wanted to accept
Flash? What do you mean? You just drag the MP3 or WAV file into Adobe Audition.
yes but i animate and after i use adobe audtion for voice acting and save it to a wav and put it on flash it gets rejected
Take a look at this, perhaps this helps.

Thank you so much!
You should have shared how a static sounded like before showing how to remove it.
Just because you upscale the video quality doesn't mean it's gonna be better than it's original quality.
First comment since 3 years, yet this video is still helpful.
now you just gotta fix your weird mic. sounds plasmary.
that first second of the video made my ears bleed, but thank you for the tutorial

glad you enjoyed, thanks for commenting!
Question how do you remove noise (a bird signing) that always happens when I am also talking. Meaning there is no point where the bird song is alone?
You need to have it alone, otherwise it's impossible to do it.
god bless you
will this work on electric guitars with to much static and to much high pitch?
my guitar sound like it is over tacking the drums what are some ideas to muffle the electric guitar? thank you
Works for anything.
Vocal isolation tends to be more effective now that they've replaced noise removal with noise reduction, for anyone who's wondering!
This is correct.
does he have his mac skinned with windows pc? ARE YOU SERIOUS! Give that mac now! J/K hahahahahahah thanks for this tutuorial!
I tried it and still I hear this buzzing sound, Any voice recording software that could fix this?
You could try to apply the effect multiple times.
I know i can use noise removal but what's the best ear buds ear phones give me the name brand so i could record to eliminate the beat from reaching the mic ?
Not sure, Amazon it.
Well, it works with noise reduction also
Thanks a lot!! It really helped me.
Wow this is actually very helpful! I found this very useful for my post commentary on my channel
I'm trying to identify how much static my microphones contain. does what you're saying contain that?
You have to play around with the settings for that.
Such a simple step that would've taken me days to figure out. Thank you so much, you just made my weekend. You rock. ;)
You're a life saver man! Just a new mic so now with your help I can do live commentaries without a problem :D
