I always find your teaching spot on, but prefer the longer format. On my fretless bass I have those LTF strings and love them. Being fretless they won't wear out...ever, so worth the £.
Some nice little kick ass files! Kind of what I was looking for and I’ll definitely be learning these. All the Bass Player’s I know that know that I’m just taking lessons online that are laughing at me are going to open her eyes and ears when I play this stuff in front of them.
@@ebassguitar Mostly by ear and finding the notes. Being smooth jazz drummer helps quite a bit because I listen closely to what the bass stars and visa versa. In this video I attempt a baseline it’s a little bit of slapping and pulling with the finger on the fretboard at the same time but still a long way to go not entirely accurate and yes I need to get my thumb and positioning right, lol! ua-cam.com/video/CaBzAiVomME/v-deo.html
Great video. I like the shorter format. More focused and concise. I don't always have time to go through an entire video in one sitting, so this is great. More of these, please!!! I like the bass tone better than what you've used in the past; my own preference is for a darker tone, less metallic, so this is more my direction. I've used the Thomastik strings on both electric and upright, they're awesome...however, if you like them on your electric, check out LaBella tape-wound nylon strings. They're what I'm currently using on my electric. Love 'em (no, I don't work for LaBella! but if I did, I'd love it 'cause I could get my tape-wound nylons free!).
Those strings sound super awesome and look softer on the fingers than flats I've tried. Which set are they and what gauge? Great lesson, tasty fills Thanks!
Thinking this a cool thing to learn and use. getting it under my fingers right now! The tone is pretty cool, a little too much mids for my personal liking. I have GHS precision flats on my Squire J bass through a zoom B1 4 sans clean patch. As always, thank you for the lesson!
The short format is great, -- that is a lot of material to work on, and it took just 11 minutes to get with it! Also, the new tone sounds fine, and "low tension" flats might be the way to go for me... I have a set of La Bella Heavy Gauge Flat Wounds, ("The Jamerson Set") -- but I'm afraid to put them on my Fender MIM Precision Bass Special Deluxe. It has a Jazz Neck, and I've seen pictures of cracked necks that couldn't handle the tension of Traditional Flat Wounds... Plus I live in the desert, and I haven't put my bass in the case with a humidor all summer...

Thanks, and best regards from Poland.
Great. Nice fills. Great swing.
Really good stuff! Even I can sound cool! Great music and he seems like a great guy too.
Great bass groove... a bit Lalo Schifrin style!
Thank you! :)
Great-great-great lesson. I think I’ll practice late tonight. BTW, I like the short format. Thank you for the lesson.

Shortscale Bass Lessons 😁
It works for me pretty well - short input, short way to grab my bass and play. Thank you!
Shorts are good. Concentrated with good stuff like this one. I’ve been looking for this 🤙🏻
Thanks for the feedback Roger, and noted! :)
Wow bass brother! This is awesome stuff!
I have such a bass too, I am very happy with the sound and the possibilities of building a real bass sound. Very good bass guitar.
Sweet bass
Nice tone
Cool groove man
Thanks David! Hope you got something out of the bass fills in the lesson :)
@@ebassguitar Hi
Yeah only getting to mess around with those riffs now
Really sweet
love this - I was looking for inspiration for a backing groove to play while our singer introduces the band. This will work perfectly!
Great licks brother Bassist Los Angeles
The tone sounds tight, I like your Marcus Ax that lick is tight by the way good funk 😎
Morrissey is funky on the bass

I'm curious if you managed to show these fills to the bass players you know :)

Glad to know you liked the format, and thanks for the string suggestion. Will check it out.
p.s - the flats sound great. I was using TI flats but as I only have one bass, switched to rounds for more versatility ...

wrong notation in the first Fill.
You play E but in Notation is Eb
All your videos are full of information I would not short number of people get impatient let them scroll into your videos if they want to cherry pick.
In the first fill you play D-D#-E.But in the tabs it says:D-D#-D#.No,I'm not a smartarse...I really know better.
Yup Eb for the win....typo!
You’re quite right it should be an e natural
My apologies!
@@ebassguitar Keep up the good work. Enjoy your videos.
