I enjoyed your visit to the Golden Temple. I went with my gf and her family whom I stayed with in the Punjab for 3 months. Ate strictly vegan the whole time. Dhal is my favorite with rice. Yes I could only eat one chapati with my vegetarian meal which was spicy. I requested carrot helva which my gf husband makes. He made it for me which took couple of hours to make from beginning to end. . A lot of work goes into making it from juicing and shredding the carrot which looks more orange than our pale carrots we get in Canada in the stores. The carrot helva is to die for. My gf mom in law made me paratha chipati every morning for breakfast which is chapati mixed with potato inside. I liked this better than plain chapati. I managed 2 paratha for breakfast and made my own instant coffee. They don't have coffee maker and drink chai instead. My favorite time was around 6 p.m. when they would light the chuwla, clay oven situated outdoor near kitchen in the courtyard. Everyone had them where I was. . Sticks of wood were continually added to make the chuwla hot enough to bake the chipatis on. I loved watching the chapatis being made and rolled by hand then placed on the fire to bake. Yes we were in the same place in the Golden Temple to eat as you were. Same crowded. The guy who hit your arm is acting like a Jaat. Normally Sikhs aren't racist or for the most part openly racist. There are ethnic peoples among the Punjabi people, and I have seen many shades of colors, features and backgrounds. And the guy called you Negro is clearly ignorant. He simply was describing you. So you have to decipher his energy, he I've seen a black Khalsa Sikh once in NYC, and clearly he didn't look black, but, looked Punjabi. He has thick long wavy hair, a big beard and wore a turban round. When he went to Punjab, he was welcomed with open arms and a shock! Definitely a cultural shock! The great majority embraced him due to their knowledge of the Khalsa Path. He was a brother. His presence caused many to take Amrit/baptism, and accept the teachings of the Sikh religion. So watching the video, you were accepted ,and embraced as I expected. They were amazingly curious about your presence more than negative. Nothing but smiles and warmth. Even the guy who tapped your shoulder was from being aggressive. Just continue to travel and stay positive. Stay safe.
There are few things which made you feel bad: 1. People in india , which you met doesn't realy know "N-" word meaning. 2. Guy in kitchen didn't hit you , he patted you as he moved away. Mostly in Punjab, India we do this when we meet or leave!! Please don't misunderstand!!!!

Slowly chaning? Why does other people have to change because white people did something bad? Negro is not a bad word in India, East Asia or Latin America and it will continue to be so. First of all, I apologize for the inconvenience u faced while you were here. The term 'N-word' is not recognized in the region; thus, they lack proper knowledge about it. Its use may stem from ignorance rather than hate, as the term has been propagated during British rule. Many individuals may be unaware of its offensive nature as defined in encyclopedias like Britannica, which states it refers to people of African descent. In a place of worship such as a gurudwara, the use of such a term would likely be avoided if its implications were understood. Additionally, in Indian culture, dark-skinned deities like 'Kali' or 'Maha Kaal' are revered, with their names signifying 'black' and representing powerful entities. And I don't think people here care about racism stuff but yeah, we use it for humor I literally have a friend that goes by the nickname "Kaalu" and so yeah, we call him and if you come to the South people with black color here are referred to as the blessed one's / closest to Sun god.
Oh, btw many people here are good and hospitable and for your information a small no of people doesn't represent a Country. 😑 And being a black skinned Indian I think it's it exaggerated I mean a rapper can use the N-Word freely we don't say anything and say it's cool. Nowadays there is much antipropaganda going on about my country guess they can't digest it. 😮💨😮💨And I don't care if u read or not, but u exaggerated that we love the N-word.
That's complete bs. India has a long standing problem with racism, colourism and misogyny. There are so many articles/ videos of how badly darker skinned individuals are treated in India. How they are insulted, mocked and discriminated against for having darkskin. It is also affected by the class system which impacted by the Hindu scripture. The so called festival of colours in itself stems from shame of having darker skin.
The N word in India is not known as bad word in general the word he used mostly used by People to identify Black's from Africa. But sadly i guess the credit goes to the British Rule and American pop culture that people got this word they have no ill intention to use as racist slur in India because 80% population of India is of Brown colour

The “langar” was a tradition started by Sufi saints in the Indian subcontinent where free food would be distributed to devotees/attendees. This is still practiced in many Sufi Shrines today, where a cooked meal will be served to all who come.
The name/word ‘langar’ came because of Sufi saints but the concept of charity and providing cooked meals or uncooked raw material to ascetics and wandering yogis has been known in eastern cultures for over 2000 years. The community kitchen was started by the Sikh Gurus.
If they say the n word to describe you I don’t think it’s derogatory just describing. Just like how Somalia say “madow” to describe other African people. But if the Indian decides to get malicious then there’s a problem 👍
South Indians also say it too. My wife is from Bangalore but she isn't racist. It's the word Indians genuinely use to distinguish the Afro Caribbean ethnicity group. They don't have the knowledge of the western culture and ways sir and from what I can see is that the man who called you that simply asked you with a smile on his face because he was genuinely happy to greet you and meet you with love. You are really taking the Indian people the wrong way. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the 1st Guru was the one who opposed to racism. He said there is no Muslim, no Hindu, we are all one. Sikh's recognise the human race as one. The Sikh's carry the Kirpan sword as a saint warrior to defend the oppressed not only for their own people but even for others such as Hindus when they were oppressed. In fact, the 9th Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji sacrificed his head to save the Hindu's. The Sikh's are very selfless and are very giving to all. I wish you peace to be restored in your heart and not to see it as hatred as they are not familiar with western racial terms. Erase your heavy heart with this misunderstanding. I can see that you are a good person and I know that you are not being slanderous to the North Indians as you are simply misunderstood and this misunderstanding is unnecessarily hurting you. It's simply a descriptive terms for a race in India, North and South. I have also seen in Punjab the swastika drawn and painted everywhere and on shops but the meaning isn't racist because the swastika symbol with the dots added was a symbol of peace before Hitler came but then the Nazis altered the symbol slightly and the meaning. I genuinely think India are still stuck on old terms, symbols and definitions which wasn't racist back then and are not up to date with how the west view such words now. Most people I saw love you there brother. It's sad to see you feel this way. My family roots are Sikh's and from Punjab. I am in England though so I know not to call you that but a lot of my family in India would describe you that way and think it's ok and probably use that word thinking it's polite and using the word black, they would probably think that is racist. It's simply a geographical difference of understanding with zero harm in it. The ironic thing is you wouldn't see a black man complain of another black man calling each other that. But that's a whole other subject entirely. Peace and love prospers. Don't live your life with such a heavy heart. You'll be more happier and enjoy your life experiences even more by accepting difference rather than judging difference. Peace and blessings to you. If I have offended you then I am sorry but I tried to be honest and as humble as possible and I enjoyed your content and hopefully you won't take such things to heart in the future brother. 🙏🏽 Much love ❤

Sorry you had to face this, but also there is a cultural difference that needs to be noted,in India most people don't know and neither are taught that the n word is so offensive,it does not have racist connotations ,its used as a name, even I who has been exposed to western media a lot did not know how offensive it was considered in the west a few years ago. If the man knew how hurtful it is,theres no reason he would use it in his holy sacred place to hurt you,by his body language he looked happy to meet you. Also jaats are known to be loud and boisterous its a habit of theirs to meet people energetically sometimes they hit the back and hands with warmth ,there have even been funny gags about it how someone got hit too much, it's a cultural thing to pat on the back or hands when one meets, one cant see things in India through the lens of how the west treats people of colour,India is a very different country and very diverse culturally and linguistically and and also ethnically.

They used the term negro, they didn't invent it. Furthermore, their was zero malice in them using it when referring to you. Blame the usage of this word on their lack of understanding of societal norms in todays era and just general lack of awareness of trends abroad. The term "negro" historically referred to a racial or ethnic classification, primarily for people of African descent. However, its usage has become outdated and is now considered offensive and inappropriate. It is not a term commonly used in contemporary English. In modern language, more respectful and inclusive terms like "Black" or "African American" are preferred when referring to individuals or communities of African descent. It's important to be aware of the evolving nature of language and choose words that promote understanding and respect. If you want to educate people of the world about this inappropriate and outdated racist world, perhaps do some research of your own into its origins. In Italy and Spain they also use the same word but its just a slight variation of it but they are aware of societal norms and more important clued on with todays world, so they avoid using it. In some South American countries is a normal word and actually used often to refer to someone of black skin or African origin as pointed out by someone below.

While I don’t use the N word , however most people in Asia don’t know what the N word is and don’t know how the Africans were treated in the Americas. So for them is not negative. Even native Americans, they call them Red Indians . This is what the socialist media used to use as vocabulary. However now with the internet that’s slowly changing.
Slowly chaning? Why does other people have to change because white people did something bad? Negro is not a bad word in India, East Asia or Latin America and it will continue to be so. It just mean African black race. In the west, that word became bad because white Americans used it for slavery and used that word as derogatory term. That's how the word became bad in the west. In other parts of the world, it's still used. People have to stop looking everything through a Western lens. Words can can be construed as offensive, inoffensive, or completely neutral, largely depending on the region or country where it is used, as well as the context in which it is applied. Bro a lot of indians don't even know that the N-word is racist. For us, we thought N means someone from Africa. That's it, we don't use it to verbally abuse it or anything. In fact I didn't know that it was bad, until a few years ago before when i accidentally saw it on Instagram. Indians are ignorant on that subject.

African people are so loving, and warm. People take advantage of the naivety. Such a great qualities get corrupted by stupidity, greed, and racism.
Idk what is this all about. I have seen people get offended even with the word black. Also this rasicm thing against black people is mostly a white thing. Punjabi people and sikh people aren't racist. They especially sikhs never owned as slaves. And sikhs have been present for more than 500 years. Slavery was abolished in usa just around 150 years ago.
Here is a funny thing. I was watching an interview of a famous punjabi singer. He doesn't know english well. He was asked what kind of songs he likes. He had N***** style. He used the N word with hard r. He had normal expression while saying it implying he doesn't know it is racist
Negro is not offensive it just means black in Spanish & Portuguese. Even its derivative “n*gger” is not really offensive it just means black…
@@josh-l4r8k I guess people are just too easily offended in this day and age.

Most of Punjabis don't know if the N-word is insulting moreover they can't perfect speak so how can judge the whole community who if ONE doesnt know english
These same people know the word African exists, stop with the nonsense
@@themarathoncontinues4211 Its not Europe. They might know the word african but I am also punjabi and most people don't know the N word is offensive or the real meaning I know that.. I don't make my own speculations you can find bad people everywhere however this has got nothing to do with Sikhi.
@@SinghAujla99z they ALL know the word African, stop pretending bro. If you know Somalia you know Africa. They could also just call him Somali.
I agree you can find bad ppl anywhere but THESE are examples of bad ppl, pretending to be ignorant isn’t good excuse.
@@themarathoncontinues4211 that's not true. They see any white dude either from Europe, Aus, or US they would just term them as gora (white) or if they see any black person (with curly or braided hair) they would call them negro. They wouldn't even know that black people exist out of Africa too. Yes they need to be educated. But I'm pretty sure their intentions were not illl while asking him if he is a negro
who addresses someone by calling them black? Irregardless of their ignorance, this is not a normal way to address anyone and trying to justify it is pathetic
That guy wasnt even being serious lmao
Imagine supporting racism. I'll give you something to joke abt
Whole world is better than delhi.

Anything is better than that.
You are respected man don’t let others to change your behavior
Calling somebody "n3gr0" is not in itself derogatory unless you are from a part of the world where its used to demean a group.
In India they dont use foreign words to insult people.
