    That’s so much more efficient, and most people don’t realize the cumulative weight of multiple tools you have to carry.

    Lineman’s are strippers, reamers, twist wires, hammer, cut anything, bend hooks... I only use lineman’s, flat head and philips.

    Andy thanks for the video. You seem to be uniquely positioned between Europe and North America and may be able to speak to what is the best of both worlds. This could be the unique proposition you could bring to your videos that could make them especially popular. I live in Canada and have a mixture of tool brands, some European (Knipex, Wera and Wiha) , some from the USA (mostly Klein) and just one from Japan (Engineer brand - like vampire pliers). Knowing which tool is the best choice for a particular purpose takes some research, along with some trial and error - a place where your videos may be able to help.
    BTW, and way off topic, thanks for filling a cultural gap. I knew the “Bob’s your uncle” expression and took it to mean something like “and there it is” or “and there you have it”. I had not heard “Fanny’s your aunt.” before. Its purpose seems to be a reinforcement of the meaning of the first idiom and I interpret it in aggregate as “and there you have it” and “all is good.” Literally, you are fortunate to have “Bob as your uncle” but you are even better off because “Fanny is your aunt”.
    Good luck with your channel.

      Dean Rhodenizer thanks for the comment. Yeah I definitely feel uniquely position between both. The cool this is that I have my master license in both countries, it’s fun to be able to do a little work when I go home for visits. I agree. I have had lots of trial and error here until I found the tool that felt ‘right’ for me and for the task at hand. It means I have doubled up on a few tools but when you use them every day it’s important to be happy with the tools in hand. That’s a big part of why I wanted to start making these videos for those in the same position as me or those coming into the trade.
      And yes hahaha the Fanny’s your aunt is like the bow to bobs your uncle haha. Thanks so much for your feedback.

    My lineman's are half cutter and half hammer, so I think I'll keep my long heavy ones. I've got the Klein-Kurve Heavy Duty Wire Stripper Model # K12054 on the way. Have you taken a look at those? They look like they'd be good for trimming out.

    • @myamericanlife9751
      @myamericanlife9751  6 років тому

      borwish borwish nice! I haven’t used that model but they look to be good too. I believe they are the one with the spring which I like but I’ve heard other people say they didn’t like it spring loaded and took the spring out. Let me know how they work out for you!

    Was it a hard transition being an electrician in Ireland vs being an electrician in the states? I think I’d be confused at first if the typical color codes were different.

    • @myamericanlife9751
      @myamericanlife9751  6 років тому +1

      Brian Hogan it wasn’t to bad. Getting used to the new colors was definitely an adjustment. I’d say the hardest parts were getting familiarized with the American codes. They’re so different to Irish regulations. The other thing is that all the materials here are different. So that was a huge difference. It took me a while before I knew what materials were needed for different jobs. But The basics of electricity are all the same.

    Thanks for the review. What do you think about the multi long nose pliers compared to the hybrid.

    • @myamericanlife9751
      @myamericanlife9751  6 років тому

      Tony Rossi thanks Tony. I think the multi long nose pliers is an awesome tool too. They are of very similar quality to the hybrid pliers. I don’t think you can go wrong with either option. It’s just down to your personal preference. For me it comes down to what I like using most and I personally use my linesman’s a lot more than my long nose so this is the tool I find a lot more helpful to have the strippers etc on. I still carry my normal long nose most days. The combo of carrying a hybrid pliers and standard long nose is a lot lighter than carrying a multi long nose and standard linesman’s. Hope this helps.

      Andy’s Tools i have had my eye on those lately, because I work as a service electrician now. When I was doing new construction I preferred standard tools, but now I'm always trying to make my service shoulder bag as universal and light weight as possible. Thanks again.

    Figure you could still use it as a hammer with a screwdriver to tighten clamps
    The needlehose variant not so much

    • @myamericanlife9751
      @myamericanlife9751  6 років тому

      Bob Winzenburg yeah definitely. It’s great for clamps. It just takes a bit longer for romex staples. All in all though I way prefer the stripping function to being able to use it as a hammer.
