I don't understand fast Spanish. Sadly I don't understand slow Spanish either. Just a beginner. Perhaps continued listening will help.

The most fun thing for me in learning Spanish is consuming Spanish and understanding it. Unfortunately I have a really hard time with conversational comprehension (sub 25%) versus understanding a newscast (+75% now), and written articles like news, sports are pretty easy now (90%). The advice teacher gave here I plan to follow. I have some added thoughts on things I did to increase simple consumption: At gym, set language on the equipment to Spanish. Set your phone, app and email settings to Spanish (yep you’ll learn the word “contraseñas” and “pestañas” (does not mean eyelashes only lol). And then set ATM preferences to Spanish (nothing like incurring an extra $3 fee to encourage you to get things right). And finally your patient portal…maybe not advisable if you are sick, lol. Siri, your car, youtube, customer service at your phone company…all happy to text or talk to you in Spanish. Let them! I pay my celular vendor alot, why not make them communicate with me in Spanish?!

Super video, thanks a lot! I like your clear pronunciation.
Your tip 3: Toma apuntes y intenta resumir, is great to boost your speaking abilities. That's a fantastic idea! - I will try this out.
What me helped a lot is: Transcription!
Listen to an audio from whom you have the text and write down word-by-word, like writing dictations in school. That was a gamechanger for me in terms of listening.

I just tried this tip to takes notes and summarize, and I do see how it can improve your speaking ability. I'm still mid to upper begginer level, so I can not summarize in my own words. However, you can make this work at any level. by reciting a dialogue verbatim and adding a short commentary of your own. Good tip indeed.

Good one! Transcribing things yourself is a big challenge. Anything that really makes you focus like that can make a big impact. Thanks for sharing.

Estoy sorprendido!

What country's accent is this? I've been studying for a while and now I am trying to focus on a relaxed accent, like yours.

I’m not a native Spanish speaker, but for the purposes of these videos I try to speak as “neutrally” as possible, so I’d say this is more “generic Latin America” than specific to one country (but of course, with a language as big as Spanish, neutral doesn’t really exist). My natural spanish speech is most influenced by Chilean and Argentinian Spanish. I would suggest listening to Spanish from a bunch of places and seeing what you like best (BBC en español on yt has a bunch of good examples)

That’s ok. One reason might be that you’re not used to this one particular dialect of the Spanish language. He does speaks fast and judging by his accent he’s from Chile.
