  • This video shows some of the memorial sites for fallen US soldiers and war veterans. It begins with the memorial for the veterans of the Korean War (1950 to 1953), which is located on the southeast side of the Lincoln Memorial. It then goes west over the Arlington Memorial Bridge (Potomac River) past the Seabee Memorial for the pioneers of the Navy and past the Hiker Memorial for the soldiers who fought in the Spanish-American War (1898), the Boxer Rebellion in China (1899 to 1901) and the war in the Philippines (1899 to 1902). There are a total of 50 copies = locations of the Hiker Memorial in the USA. Then we go to the 253-hectare Arlington Memorial Cemetery, which contains over 400,000 graves and is the second largest national cemetery in the USA. General Marshall from the Marshall Plan and John F. Kennedy are also buried here. Active soldiers and their immediate family members can be buried here. The cemetery is still active. There are memorials and sections for various military-historical occasions and combat units. If you don't understand the explanations on the tour, you basically only need to know the key facts mentioned above. The video ends with the changing of the guard and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier.
Here is a detailed video about the changing of the guard and the wreath-laying ceremony: • Wachablösung und Kranz...

Wenn die Politik so zögerlich auf Putin reagiert haben wir vielleicht auch bald die Gelegenheit auf die Gedenkkultur unserer Soldaten der Bundeswehr und NATO zu schauen.
