Hey Billy, have fished all over Italy for many years, I feel your frustration.. My advice would be to find a kayak, get down the fishmongers, make a big bag of Chum, and get out a couple of hundred yards into very deep water. Good luck mate..

Most locals - and Italians in general - fish their beaches with "Beach Ledgering" rods that are akin to long feeder rods although you will find congers (grongo) and smoothhounds. As for your bite-off, I would say it was a bluefish (Pesce Serra) as they are caught there and will bite through just about any diameter mono. Buone vacanze...

Good tip about the plastic bags for the small tackle bits - it would also mean you could have different size swivels/lure clips/beads/whatever in the same compartment in the box and keep 'em separate. 👍👍 I like the idea of using shrink tube for the Tinsel on the assist hooks too. @@Billyfishing_watch believe that! I’m down in Equatorial Guinea at the moment, offshore. Huge huge shoals of Yellowfin, Barracuda and Grouper up on the top. It is the fishiest place I’ve ever seen and we can’t so much as think about casting a line. Killer!

Already got Asian origin 500 piece multi coloured shrink tube, waiting on 20mm clear wrap to try and shrink on inside out silver crisp packet for chrome effect jigs, we shall see haha, take care hope you get a monster 👾👹👍
