Your point about watching what you bring into your home is so true. There’s nothing like decluttering a few days to cure me from buying more things!! I really like your inbox/outbox system.
Useful & easy to apply tips. Like the inbox/outbox tip. Relative to this concept, I have 3 bins on top of my washer & dryer: TO REPAIR / ERRANDS / RETURNS. That way they have a “parking spot” until i can act upon those items.
This is a phenomenal video Laura. I feel inspired and, I also feel a sense of freedom from trying to keep things looking perfect. The last two tips were flat out genius. Thank you!
What does organizing books by color have anything to do with knowing what you have and helping you locate a certain book? I guess it just looms decorative.
I can not THANK YOU enough for stating these truths about the complexity of decluttering. I have been caring for my parents the past 20 years and Before that I was extremely organized. Not that my dear old dad past away last year Dec. 1st I can clearly stand back and see how emotional that past 10 years with all his health issues due to extreme incompetence in Yes, The Veterans Hospital system. My 80 year old mom could better organize our local hospital due to her excellent executive skills. I want to blame all forms of media and entertainment for pressuring everyone to feel the need to build extral large homes and then fill every closet with too much clothing or every gaget ever invented. I believe that an ideal dream would be a house in the country containing the bare minimum to enjoy country life like 3 sets of work clothes not a barn stuffed with work clothes for 250 people! Who is going to spend untold hours washing the Mt. Rushmore of clothes ? I believe the ideal is to have the best quality you can afford and not invest in quantity, unless the pair of shoes fits like a glove and the style is your style. I have to face a cellar with boxes dumped by movers resulting from rescuing as much as possible from a basement flood in June 2020. I just could not face the task until now. Many, Many thanks for listing all the realistic problems that we face when attempting to decide quickly about sentimentaly charged items and then when loved ones want you to " Not let go "! Yikes. I don't wish to live in some sterile white cell of a room with zero comforts of home. I want the celar to be very easy to dust, vacuum and mop and to feel RELAXED in that space containing easy to access items stored. God Bless you. This is what I need to hear today !

Great topic!
I like to organize my closet by color and have all the same colored hangers.

Where did you purchase your bookcases?
I like you my lovely wife 💋 ❤❤❤❤❤
I hate returning things!
