    Having a memory bin or something of that sort is really helpful for when I come across a memento or photo that's in a random spot in the house. I just take the item directly to my bedroom where I keep my memory bins & place the item there. Even if it's not in the exact spot I want it to end up (I'd like to put some of them in scrapbooks and others in sort of chronological order)... at least it's in the place where I'd look for it first (Dana K White's advice) :)

    Love the 20/20 rule!
    Getting "distracted" smelling baby clothes - soooo repeatable! Tee hee ...
    I always appreciate your content! Thank you for both the video AND blog version option.

    Laura, you are spot on. All 16 mistakes are so accurate. I think I've done several them myself.

    Laura, Great video. No way could we declutter our house in one day unless I left & let someone else come in & just chuck it all. 😅

      😂 I declutter other's work and home passionately. I work on barter and trade if income is holding folks back. I have had a client who moved her plant shop across the country. She paid me in plants and arty art. Soooooo worth my precious time.

      Same! I'm an ACOH (adult child of hoarders who shop therapeutically). Nothing is better than my kids tossing my doom pills. Outta sight, outta mind. Let it go. Buh bye. 🎉😅😊😢

    Started my journey a year ago. We will be retiring in a few years and living in our home with two additional generations. Thank you for this and some of the other videos, because right now it is a solo journey and I have physical limitations. But I do see progress and some stuff is getting easier.
    The hard part is getting stuff done, seeing progress and then having to leave for 4 weeks and then coming back and seeing the progress undone. Any suggestions?

    The not deciding thing is real. It is what slows me down soooo much! I need to keep using that decision making muscle more.

    I'm guilty of moving the "donation box/bag" from the house to the car where it usually stays until my fiancé makes it "disappear".
    Thank you so much for your entire YT channel!!!❤

    LOVE the topic of this video! So super helpful!
    So my only idea for you is that your makeup is too light for your coloring. It makes you look anemic like I am haha! (Laughing at myself, not you).
    You're so pretty! And I think finding someone who does makeup really well and having them show you the best colors for you would be easiest because, well, most of us aren't the experts in picking even our own colors. Now I'm an interior designer who is really good with colors and I still can't ever find the right colors for myself! And I was taught how to find makeup color for others, too!
    Love you, Laura, and I love all your updates and texts and everything and appreciate all your super hard work so much! You've helped me a ton not feel like I'm alone and helped me feel more like a normal person with my stuff! 💜

    These are good tips. I easily take tangents so that tip on don't reminiscence on the photos just declutter then later look at the photos.

    We have a donation laundry basket just inside the garage. We put things in as we decide we don't need them. When its full, it goes to the donation dropoff.

    My Mom would hang onto stuff but then during decluttering she'd throw out something that she hadnt used but just a week later would need that exact item and be so frustrated at having let it go.
    Hence, the beginning of me becoming a pack rat who cant let anything go.

    Are garage/garden sales quite popular in the US? I live in the UK & have never been to one.

    • @kakylong2
      @kakylong2 Рік тому +4

      Yes. During the summer you can find garage sales / yard sales in any neighborhood. Also, entire neighborhoods will get together & have one all the same wkend. It's awesome. You can usually find some good stuff really cheap. My sisters have had them & usually make hundreds of dollars on all their "junk". 😅

      I used to teach & all of my stuff is in our garage. That was 23 yrs ago. I told my Hubby just to take it all & throw it away. You could probably donate it all your craft items to a nursing home activities dept or a teacher. They could probably use it. 😊

    I haven’t de clutter yet and already trashed my kids baby photo albums away with a bunch of clutter. It hurts, cause cause those photos are irreplaceable. The only ones I had too.

    • @LisaPFrampton

      Why did you throw out your baby's photos?? 😥

    • @LisaPFrampton
      @LisaPFrampton Рік тому

      I assume it was an accident? Cuz you said you threw it out with a bunch of clutter, so do you mean that it was mixed in with it and it didn't know?

      Yes, unfortunately I had a box with a bunch of papers and the only album I had full of photos was in there, my high school senior year book and random books, all gone and it’s so sad. Irreplaceable. It hurts too.

      It does hurt. I had put my childrens baby shoes in a small paper bag to take out of the basement to upstairs. Somehow it got trashed, never have seen them again.
