Love seeing the stats man! Im so with on wishing it was easier to get the word count for our reads. I have had such bad luck finding that info for a lot of series/books. I have also found conflicting info on the same series online so it seems like a very mixed bag.

The writing style and the pacing and the cultural base for this civilization! These two series at once might fry my brain though...
Hi Jake, great video. I completely agree. Everyone should read at their own pace. I finished 40 books in 2024 (I also don't do audio books - I'm afraid I'll fall asleep listening). Totally. Word count would definitely be the most accurate way to quantify reading volume. The only downside is that you'd wind up with some really MASSIVE figures at the end of the year lol.

I read 25 books in 2024 and was blown away that I'd read so much. I didn't have a number that I was wanting to read but I didn't think I'd get through one a month. The Bound and the Broken, and The Faithful and the Fallen are the standouts for me in 2024. Both felt great and gave me a Wheel of Time feel while being very different.
Yeah, I had a slow start to the year as I was in a reading slump ad couldn't find much to keep my interest. Around mid year I came across the First Law trilogy on audio and that catapulted me into my usual kind of reading for the rest of the year. I managed 69 books for '24, which is a little on the lower side for me. I've had a great start, though. Am currently reading The Gallant, To Ride Hell's Chasm and started a series called Battle Mage Farmer, first book. But I also started The Empire of Salt, first book Darien as my first completed book of the year, which is yet another series I will be continuing. I have been using Fable to track my reads, but I'm a little disappointed in some of the updates and the way I don't think I can now access last year's stats. 😕
I don't know what app you use to keep track of those things or if you just use a home made spreadsheet, but I found that Storygraph is great to keep track of my readings and it gives me all the juicy stats that nerds like me like to see and keep track of.
@@dalicieux I just use a simple spreadsheet! I don't really rate books so things like good reads have felt overwhelming to me in the past 😅 but I've heard good things about storygraph!
Actually this was a pretty good year for me as far as finishing up/reading entire series goes… I began the year reading through all of ASOIAF by GRRM, and then after that I read The Pendragon Cycle by Stephen R Lawhead The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks The Sun Eater by Ruocchio and finally Broken Empire by Mark Lawrence. Obviously a lot of other reads in between but that was a nice chunk taken off my tbr…
read more books than last year (26). This year I read 36. In terms of number of pages this year I read 17,533. Last year I read 19,211. The longest book was Word of Honor by Nelson DeMille with 880 pages. The shortest book was Making him mine by Saxon James with 53 pages. The top 3 authors read this year are: 1. Nelson DeMille with 6 books; 2. Pierce Brown with 4 books; 3. Robert Jordan with 4 books.
I can't help it; I just want to read everything. I can't go to a thrift store without leaving with four books. I do take my time, though! Which Dizzt book (so far) is your favorite?
