First off they should do ranked choice voting. If dream campaigns for the second most boring mob and it wins by only 1%, and that thing would have lost by 20 something % if the actual most boring mob didnt fun, then maybe the ice mage should have made it.
Also yes, the mobs should be more major changes. But Mojang probably doesn't want to deal with balancing major changes part of the core gameplay design if and only something wins just to advertise if it does win. So they'd have to go back to old abandoned mobs eventually to add them later. And yeah we should have a mob vote from all the second place winners

Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with adding mobs with no/little use. It makes the game feel more alive

I feel like the mob vote should be turned on it's head, do a 180.
Like the devs say "we are going to add _____ to the game. We want feedback!"
And the options for the community would be
(a) I love it!
(b) Needs tweaking
(c) Delete this now.
And this would (in theory) fix the problems with the mob vote as it is now. Community has impact on the game. Devs have freedom, and if players really hate the change, the stuff can be removed.
