Thank so you much for this video. I suddenly had a problem with my reel not locking the line and the anti stop had fallen out like yours in the video. I re-set it back in position and it's good as new. You saved a reel I have had since I was a teenager.
Dusty, I’m glad you managed to get it fixed and running again. That’s the idea behind Young Martin’s Reels. Helping you give your reels a second chance at life.
my reel is opposite. Won't release line without tapping button a dozen times. Oiled inside of spring. works when apart, but goes back when cover is on. Any suggestions?
Inside the rotor is the line retrieval pin. When you push the button, the pin should retract and should stay that way until the rotor turns. If the pin isn’t retracting either spring isn’t pulling it inside the rotor head or the pin assembly is bound up with grease.
WD40 and a toothbrush mostly. Once the grease is broken down, I use paper towels and cotton swabs to wipe it down. Sometimes the grease it hardened to the point that even WD40 has trouble breaking it down, that’s when I use a screw drive to scrape flat areas and an ice pick to clear gear teeth.
@@youngmartinsreels5314 thank you for this video, I found one of these for my son that’s in bad shape so I’m tearing it down and cleaning your video made it easy.
@@youngmartinsreels5314 after I’m done with his, I have a Daiwa Jupiter Z 6000 that was given to me to figure out. They make the parts and springs so small things get stuck together and you end up with “extra” parts you don’t know where they go. So videos like yours make the puzzle much easier thanks again!

Looks like you’re using Super Lube. Good choice. You did another great job! - Chris
Yes but as usual, I used more than I normally would. I’m not sure why I do, but I feel it needs more Super Lube than Penn grease.
Reminds me of my Shakespeare you serviced Rick.👍👍👍👍👍
That’s why I thought I had already done one of these.
@@youngmartinsreels5314 yep. Almost identical

That was the intended purpose, I’m glad you found it useful. This has become one of my most popular videos.
