    I'm fascinated by the architecture of their houses and the sculptures in their tombs. Those graveyards are spectacular.

      Yeah... I feel I should've spent more time on exploring that place haha. It was the start of the holiday so we were in a bit of a ruch to see as much as we can!

      @alrightanton it's nice to see your dedication to these travel documentaries. They quality is definitely improving one at a time.
      I get that you would always feel they could be better from a creative perspective, but you post some lovely videos of very interesting places in a way that is so different from most of the travel content I watch on UA-cam. That's your strength!

    This is such a beautiful video - deserves far more views! Your drone footage is outstanding. We live here in Tuktuk but only have a DJI mini that refuses to go very high and get those amazing shots. So happy you discovered Lake Toba - we agree that it's an extremely special place. Most tourists we meet express the same sentiments as you have here - that it far exceeded their expectations. Same for us - a total dream to be able to live here. Well done on a spectacular and interesting video!

    • @alrightanton
      @alrightanton  9 місяців тому

      Oh thank you for you kind words! Yeah for some reason this video didn’t really lift off, not sure why. And wow you live in TukTuk, such a peaceful place. Honestly I wouldn’t mind moving there for a year or something, just to forgot about all the fuss and noise and embrace the beautiful nature of Sumatra!

      @@alrightanton Sumatra content is TOUGH - such a small audience. We've struggled with views for the last 2 years but just uploaded a quick trip to Kuala Lumpur and had effortless view☺s haha. But we will stick with it because we love Sumatra and really enjoy sharing this special place. Hope you can come back and visit again one day.

      Oh I’ve been to Sumatra three times now so wouldn’t be surprised if I made my return here again😅
      I’m currently making another video about Sumatra, this one will be about Bukit Lawang. But I think I’ll put the orangutans in focus, hopefully getting more views from it😅

    What's your rating for lake Toba in 1 to 10?

    • @alrightanton
      @alrightanton  7 місяців тому

      Probably 7.5
      It’s really good.
      Chill, relaxing, beautiful, place I stayed had some awesome food.
      I wish there was a bit more to do. It’s not very well developed so there’s a huge territory but sometimes not that much is happening there.
      For a relaxing holidays is just great. For high adventure seekers it may be a bit boring.
      It kinda depends on what you’re looking for. If you want to relax an enjoy the scenery without any unnecessary noise and hustle - this place is close to ideal.
      If you’re looking for thrilling adventures, noise and rumble but classy bars and restaurants then this place is certainly not for it.

    It did not wipe out the entire human race. That was something people used to believe in the 1990s, but not anymore.
    the Toba eruption had very little effect on human populations anywhere.
    F. J. Gathorne-Hardy and W. E. H. Harcourt-Smith, “The super-eruption of Toba, did it cause a human bottleneck?,” Journal of Human Evolution, vol. 45, no. 3, pp. 227-230, Sep. 2003, doi: 10.1016/S0047-2484(03)00105-2.

    • @alrightanton
      @alrightanton  5 днів тому

      Interesting. I did quite a bit of researching on it and most of the sources said that the effect of the eruption was truly devastating. And judging by the size of the volcano I am not surprised at all.
      But I’ll give a look at the journal you mentioned. Would be interesting to dig deeper into this.
