    Thank you for answering the questions I had on IG a while, especially regarding the radiator and intercooler size. You gave me the motivation to finish the conversion in mine. Would definitely love to see more videos about the car. Especially the numbers it's making with the smaller pulley etc.

      @@dutch.190e I have many swapped Cars, mostly BMW. I always liked the 2.3K Engine and think it should be a Perfect match for the w201. I actually have to get myself informed about the ECU and how much trouble it is to use the 197hp evo Version instead of the normal 193hp old version. I will get a complete car because I didnt like it to buy Part for Part when you need some, and 230s are (today - 2024) veeery affordable.

    Thank you Jari, nice and helpful short summary for your swap project! I have 2002 SLK 230 car as a donor car and I will use for my 1986 190D swap. I would like to use the stock ECU from the donor car, what do I have to do to disable all the unnecessary features like immobilizers, traction control and other safety features?

    • @dutch.190e
      @dutch.190e  4 місяці тому

      Thanks! Good luck with the swap! Removing those futures would involve some programming in the stock ecu, you would have to find someone that can do that for you. I had difficulties finding someone willing to do it as I had the ecu and engine all apart already. Usually they want the whole car in their shop do to the programming. So if your 230 still drives I would recommend to get the immo and other futures removed first, and then take the car apart.

    For someone who's never done an engine swap before but wants to do similiar 190E m102 -> 2.3m m111k swap, what donor car would you recommend to get the engine from and is it better to have the 190e m102 with ke-jetronic than with carbunator or does it matter?
    Also if I want to go with turbo instead of supercharger is there a huge advantage to go with stock kompressor 2.3 vs. the stock NA 2.3 as a base?
    Because if I'm not looking forward to opening the engine for gapping the rings etc. if possible.

    • @dutch.190e
      @dutch.190e  2 роки тому +1

      I got mine from an R170 SLK 230, would recommend getting it from something similar. I had the ke-jetronic version, but I think it would be no different with the carb version. If they have the same transmission at least.
      For going turbo you would have to go with the kompressor version, it runs lower compression for the boost. So the N/A wouldn't work well without a rebuild.

      The best engine to get is the M111.973 or M111.975 out of the SLK R170 230 Kompressor. Has the best internals and has the lower compression ratio. Also if you plan on goin turbo, you'll have to source the aluminium intake manifold as the stock plastic one will break with boost. The m111.973 also has the space in the head to use the aluminium manifold as the injectores have the point inside the head itself.

But then on, we´d have to find a wiring diagram to find out, what infos the engine needs, to run. Something i found out also is, that these 230K cars get their speed info via the ABS/ASR sensors, thats why you weather put in the donor's electronic speedo and warning lights etc., or transform a newer gearbox to manual speedo drive...
