Wonder if they could ever do matches taking place at nighttime or going from day to night with dynamic lighting. Think that could be super cool
kinda thought the same .. must not b e a transition .. but mabye some games are at morning time, some at mid day, evening, some at night, etc.
Dynamic Daytime/Nighttime cycle would be boss

optimization is key here remember this is a moba and while visuals are awesome and every one likes nice things no one wants to be struggling to run the game incon said he was getting 120 fps with direct x 12 and only 60 fps on direct x 11 and he's got a crazy high end PC ... having a well performing game that play's good and mid range PC's can run at a stable frame rate is super important...
but it's looking great i'm stoked

I have a question? Is entering the jungle going to darken the lighting of the atmosphere in the game? I think that (being insignificant) would make it more inclusiveness of actually feeling like your transitioning from different environments

Idk.. a game that has beautiful graphs doesn't mean that I'll be good. We got many failed examples like new world (it has a stunning graphics). Lets see the future of smite 2.

its 2024, how about you put also love in for your console players. like hovering over items, passivs on controller. for example, killing the fire giant, gets you a buff, on console either you know what the buffs does or you dont, cause you cant hover the buff to see what it does, same goes with gilgas lvl 5 quest and so on. with so many passivs, buffs and auras and not being able to see what it does scks really. there is a way and you guys have to find a way to make it happen

i have an account on my Ps4 with lots of money spent on there, i have that linked with my hirez account but well, i dont have my skin on pc, i have my pc account linked to my hirez account too but i havent played or spent anything there, so its bassically two accounts on the same hirez account one for steam and one for ps4, when i get my legacy gems in smite 2 will it be from my ps4 account or pc or both?
on steam version you will get asked which account to link to SMITE2 Account..
For me it was the same account ... maybe start the steam version and check it out ..
or maybe you get the same question with your ps4 version . idk

can we get a deep dive about textures ? Cuz so far everything looks the same. Fix textures, put some effort in them, this is 2024, we can't have poker face gods with the same polygons as 2012 smite.

There's a couple new things that change the game a lot, like building anything you want in any god, no more Physical and Magical gods, just gods with different scaling

I dont understand the point of making a deepdive about this. or graphics for that sake. This is what Ue5 offers default.
Palworld was a great showcase of this; Small team, small budget - yet world hit and hit the mainstream and news.
(gameplay was a big factor in this, and market gap, but the graphics helped a ton).
More importantly; it showcases just how much Ue5 offers baseline in graphics, assets and lighting.
Making a video like this, "deep dive" about Smite 2's lighting feels kinda cheap/trying to take the credit for what Ue5 gives,
when other lesser funded studios dont - and are more direct about how heavy Ue5 affects them,
and get equal or better results - because of the magnitude of changes Ue5 offers,
both in terms of quality of graphics, but also in terms of performance improvements.
I understand you need to try to make some kinda point of why Smite 2 is different,
but atleast accentuate how much Ue5 offers.
Idk, It just seems like you currently playing up what you tweaked on it to fit Smite 2, rather focus on the Gameplay changes instead?
Having videos like these next to gameplay videos, before the game is even officially out yet,
just feels transparently like you are not confident in the game, and are trying to oversell it.
This is especially relevant now, when there are so many other scams or low quality games coming out
due to *how easy Ue5 is to use, that almost anyone can make games with these graphics* ,
and most if not all of these tend to focus on the graphics as the main selling point.
You are not doing yourself any favors including videos like these before the game is even out fully yet.
And that is not even considering the thing about Ue5.4 adding insane model/animation rigging,
which likely will be normalized by the time Smite 2 comes out, (yes, Ue5.4 is already out)
making talk about this now; something that will age very very poorly.
Would be far different with "looking back" or "behind the curtain" type videos AFTER release, showing what was included,
but doing this just feels wrong, when the announcement already was poorly done with the focus clearly not being on the gameplay;
(-rapidly changing details,
-too long delay on clarifying vital details to community reacting to the announcement
-making it seem like Smite1 was being "sunset" for the sake of pushing this out
-including PAYMENT MODEL IN THE FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT, AS IF THATS THE IMPORTANT ASPECT - despite KNOWING
it was a controversial thing to include, based on your on your research beforehand,
-early media interviews having Smite 2 compared to CS2 and OW2 - despite the main similarity - carryover skins - not being done the same, just riding on the popularity here,
despite claiming difficulty porting - which you now already have debunked on your own,
easily porting entire maps instead of having to "rebuild from the ground up" as you originally claimed.)

Imma be honest, the Lighting and especially environment stuff in Smite 2 just looks very Meh, it's not *bad* per se but it for sure does not get me excited. I don't really like it, especially compared to other Stylized project I have seen made in Unreal 4/5.
It almost feels like random student work on Artstation.
Do not expect the game to be immediately at the level of Smite 1, it is an alpha of a new game, it will probably take 3 years of work more or less to be at the level of quality that Smite 1 has after 11 years of constant changes, adjustments and feedback.
Don't ruin the art style with skins for at least a few good years please

I don't want to be mean but this is the truth.
If you are creating a cartoon game, you don't need light at all or unreal engine. In fact using light is detriment to the style you're going for. And if you're not doing this style to appeal to (female) children, yes you heard that right. But because you prefer it, that's the adult gaming equivalent of running around in a diaper instead of a pair of jeans. A form of mental illness.
The exaggerated proportions on the characters, the blizzard design is also the worst cartoon style. A lot of bad connotations that comes with it. There are better ways to do 3d cartoons, especially with filters and reducing the resolution, which eliminates the (undetailed detail). There are games on the ps1 and ps2 that look better as cartoons. Probably 400MB large, which really proves how pointless the 30GB detailed models and textures are in a CARTOON game. It adds nothing, just takes away the potential of the style as well as harddrive space.
Heck you could even go back to Donkey Kong Country for a better looking cartoon game, how many MB is that 40?
These 30GB modern cartoon games are just bloated waste of effort and time, the devs are high on the latest tech but don't understand the fundamentals. Even the gameplay, focal length of the camera as well as how the screen is covered in health bars proves that. No clue what they're doing, just got a really cool premise. Gods fighting with each other.
Someone should take that idea and create a Tekken version of it or a proper MOBA version of it.
Dark Souls 3 the MOBA featuring gods as champions, yes.

Overwatch 2 used to work for me on medium as the example of a game with highes requirements but nothing more demanding than that so I'm afraid about Smite 2...
@@monkagiga2271 Depends on the frames you're wanting, resolution you're running. If you are on 1080p medium on OW2 then you will probably have to do around low-medium for this. OW is an older engine and much more optimized than Unreal engine 5 games typically.

so this is the guy responsible for the game looking so washed out compared to smite 1. lost it's vibrance and color for realism. Just look a 0:11 the "fire" giant is the cotton candy giant. smite used to have a really consistent style then it was pushed towards "hand painted" warcraft art. It doesn't match any of the default gods and few of the skins. the season 2 map matched the original art, copying warcraft isn't "smites own style"
look at SMITE1 beta videos .. but don't forget your bag for puking.. it was so bad...

@@farbenpracht He is referring to season 1 and 2 of SMITE 1, that art was the perfect balance between realism and cartoonish basically a stylized concept. It seems that SMITE 2 will follow the cartoonish path of the current SMITE 1 which is a shame since they did it because the engine was old, I hope they bring it back since they have Unreal 5 now.

Its called an art style, did you expect them to change the game to be photorealistic? Also its still in alpha and we are seeing alpha development footage.
@@anon2752 No, obviously not. But the game could still be much better looking while having the same art style. Just google "best UE5 stylized graphics", and check the images. You won't find the same exact art style smite uses, but you'll see cartoonish looking art that looks a LOT better than smite 2. So you can get an idea of what smite could look like in UE5 if it was actually done well, while preserving the same smite art style. The most basic thing would be adding fur to gods that have fur. Like look at anubis in smite 1 vs smite 2. He's basically the same. Imagine him with fur. I don't much about graphics, but that would be a great improvement on him, and other gods that need fur. They're making the textures baked in the gods.
@@anon2752 for me it has nothing to do with realism, if anything the art style is an uncanny mix of realism and stylization; The environment is still blocky / low rez, but the characters and particle effects are detailed and semi-realistic, it doesn't look right. They're clearly experimenting with maxing out UE5 graphics, but haven't yet integrated it into a coherent style.
So for now at least, yeah it still looks dated and kinda bad...
