Um, Actually, the Bracers of Defense only work if you aren’t wearing any other armor, so they take your base AC from 10 to 12. They also require attunement, which you can only have with 3 items at once in DnD. As a rogue, Riz has access to light armor, and at level 12, I think they’re at, he almost assuredly has better armor that doesn’t need attunment. Nice thought for a gift, though.
Um actually. He changed his Subclass to Arcane trickster, which access to wizard spells. If he have taken Mage Armor, his AC will be 13 + Dex mod (assume he have 20 dex so +5). So with the Bracers of Defense his AC will be 20. It is indeed a nice gesture and a well calculated part 😂
adaine's gift immediately got used to trigger fabian but i do think it's actually very sweet that if fabian ever were to get attacked by a nightmarish sexy rat, he *could* use the pipes to make it stop XD
I dunno, summons are always useful in D&D. A bunch of little animals that are friendly to you is always useful. They can be spies, or an alarm, or occasionally attack, or a distraction, or anything.
To be fair, I think they'll actually work really well against the Rat Grinders, since one can summon rats that probably wouldn't like the rat grinders very much, and the other can cast detect thoughts without spell slots, they're shit gifts but they'll absolutely destroy the rat grinders
At first I felt kinda bad for Gorgug getting a consumable that can only be used once, and then I realized as an artificer, he can literally just make his own magic items so I think it kinda works perfect for balance and everything that it's one use
Yeah also in general the Bad Kids are at a power level where they don't really struggle in combat, and when they do it's not something that a small but persistent buff would really change. So getting something that lets you do some absurdly powerful shit once is probably actually more useful and fun for an artificer barbarian than a small stat bump or extra low-level spell that won't change much in practice (especially bc their campaigns are short and time-limited so most of these things will probably only get used once or twice anyway)
Its kinda like in my opinion a major issue with Baldurs gate, cause once I know these types of items exist and how easily you can get a hold of one, the issue is why not just chug 1 every day and never worry about your stats again, I think DnD, Bg3 in general would be a touch more balanced if stat potions only lasted an hour as in your body cant contain a level of power its not normally capable of
When Fabian said it was a worm that gives psychic powers after it crawls into your brain, I fully thought Adaine was gonna turn illithid the next episode lol
@@emmakane6848 Brennan has been playing since 3rd edition, though, so he also knows about a bunch of things that aren't in modern D&D like Pun-Pun, jumplomacy, and the Locate City bomb...I haven't been playing quite as long as he has but I still get confused sometimes as to which rules work in which games

Fabian got Adaine her first _real_ clothes in Freshman Year, and gifts her a cursed worm in Junior? Definitely missing context, need to watch the season.
Did anyone else think that the worm that can give psychic abilities when it crawls into your brain was an Illithid tadpole and were very worried for Adaine? Or was it just me? lol
@sawanth1018: In season 1, the Thislesprings celebrate winter solstice and the bad kids all go as well as Gilead, Gorthalax and Sandra Lynn. Presumably Fabian's mother didn't attend because she's celebrating Mooner Yulenear. And then season 2 was all Spring Break.
Fabian: "Would you still love me if i gave you a worm"
Kristen: "Okay Rizz so here's literal armor that will save your life"

@@chubbypanda5115 Great point. Hope he has Mage Armor
@@yall_might Or he can ask Adaine to cast it on him. ☺️
That worm did end up saving everyone's lives though
the two rich kids getting each other and giving the worst possible gifts is the perfect timeline
And even better, they both gave eachother gross creatures
Is adaine rich again? I thought she's struggling with $$ this season (I'm behind tho!)
@@vickylikesthis As of right now (pre ep12), no she's not
correction: one rich and another formally rich kid

It just happened!
Siobhan really had the most perfect start to this entire sequence lmao
Adaine and Fabian really got each other the worst gifts possible
They’re perfect for each other
They deserve each other

I love how Kristen’s gift seemed like the least useful, but it instantly saved all of their lives later.

I mean there shouldn't (in theory) be an issue with giving Artificers permanent magic items as the infusions should be accounted for in their balance.
"Roll for hole", a line that we all thought but only Beardsley was brave enough to say
Shocked that no one called Lou out for “ dissonant whimpers” 4:27
When I first watched this, I thought Fabian gave Adaine a mindflayer tadpole

Brennan has talked about a home campaign where the players had it for a while, so he definitely knew.

“ROLLL FOR HOOOLE” lives in my head rent free next to “ roll for gaslight “
roll for gaslight? that never happened.
I love the pirate-like voice Brennan gave the Earworm lmao, I can't wait for Adaine to talk to the worm in her skull occasionally from now on.
Riz just straight up getting gorgug performance enhancing drugs LOL
When Fabian first started describing his gift for Adaine I thought that it was gonna be this universe's Babelfish.
How playfully fitting is it that Adaine Abernant got a gift that's technically an Aberrant? 😂
I don't think I have ever seen Brennan that feral looking. Delightful!
Brennan just roleplaying rats showing hole and Lou just dying is peak D20 lol
once again emily completely derails an otherwise wholesome moment in the best possible way.
Technically, Beardsley said they’re showing hole
"Roll for hole" giving the same energy as Mice and Murder, showing "my whole butt"
The immovable pull-up bar not being OP purely because of Kristen's dismal dexterity is downright poetic.
Siobhan's worm wriggle is perfect

Genius.

Fabian got her an illithid tadpole 😭
@deepblueink could animate this and I would love him forever
I was so hoping Adaine would come to after putting the worm in her ear and say "My name is Skipper 'Skip' Takamoori"
It will not be a dimension 20 season with the intrepid heroes without Brennan torturing Lou’s character in a chaotic way

I need someone to comsider making an ultimate dimension 20 rodentia supercut
Beardsley doing what I can only describe as: "Mr. Bean pullups" at the end.

nice clip! thanks d20! wholesome gift exchange!
Someone needs to do a cut of just the gifts involving the rats and Brennan acting it all out
Someone pointed out that the music fully stops when Ally/Kristen says "they're really showing hole" (2:14)
somehow missed Siobhan hucking dice at Beardsley in my first viewing. crying
Do you think Legend Lore knows about the rats showing hole, because of the fact that they were the ones who actually ???
Wait i just had a thought, what if that earworm is related to the space slug that parasitizes the captain in starstruck
Brennan is a tad TOO eager to show his holes 😂
MORE HOLE! XD
We need to stop sexually harassing Fabian
I wonder why the Yulenear was never mentioned in the First 2 seasons
Brennan hadn't thought of the funny name yet. Just be happy it is here now
