- In mini-tutorial #7, we'll show you how you can easily convert tables to charts using our Excalidraw editor (pssst, it's easier than you think).

0:05 | Copying data from the source table
First, you need to get the source data in order to create the chart in Excalidraw. So open the document with your table, copy (either via the context menu or Ctrl/Cmd+C) the entire table and switch to the Excalidraw editor.
0:14 | Pasting data into Excalidraw as a chart
Now it's time to paste the data into the editor. You can do this either from the context menu or by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd+V. Note that if you activate the text tool function (by double clicking on the canvas), the source data will be inserted instead of the table.
When the chart conversion features is triggered, you will be able to choose from two chart types - column/bar chart (0:19) or line chart (0:45).
After creating a chart based on your selection, you can edit it as you are used to from Excalidraw. However, because the chart is a group of objects, you must either ungroup it first to customize it (right-click on the chart ➡️ Ungroup selection or Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+G), or you can use the Ctrl/Cmd key to select only a specific part of the chart.
Once an object is selected, you can customize it using the preferences panel on the left.
TIP: Combine the created table with available toolset and libraries to create even more spectacular diagrams, wireframes, mind maps or graphic designs in a unique handwritten style!

Nice tool! I copied some data from MS Excel, and when I pasted it on Excali, it transformed the data somehow. It doesn't look like a linear regression anymore; it looks more like an exponential function.

Is it possible to use a table with more than two columns? For example to show a simple cost vs revenue line graph over time?
Not at the moment, but we definitely plan to improve this feature in the future! 🙏
