- C5/C6 Quadriplegic shows how to use a beach wheelchair and access the beach at Ala Moana Beach Park (Oahu, HI).
** I forgot to mention that these beach wheelchairs are all FREE to use and open to the public - both residents and visitors of Hawai'i.

Thanks so much for the video, gives me assurance needed to take my daughter to Ala Moana when we visit in May.
Thank you We are going in February and wife is in a chair and never gets to go into the water. going to try this for sure. thanks again.
Planning a trip to Hawaii end of this year. My mom is from Hawaii but I was born in Tennessee. I came across your channel. I have a t12 sci so it’s very helpful. Going to see my gma for the first time 🤙🏾
Thank you so much for this video, you have shared all the information you can't find on a website. I hope to bring my dad for his birthday
Very instructive experience for all paraplegics
Blessing in the name of Yeshu the Anointed
Hi from North Shore Oahu. I enjoy your videos. Please, make more often.
Aloha back from Kapolei! And will do!!
Bruddah mahalo for this video! We are brining a mainland friend to the beach and didn't know how to do it with wheelchair need. You made this easy for us to watch and see. Mahalo Nui!
Chee!! Absolutely! Mahalo for watching!
That's dope! I've always wanted to go to Hawaii but after my accident I thought what's the point if I cant enjoy the beaches! Now I can re-add it to my bucket list! Thanks for sharing that information! I really want to see how it is in the water. So how is accessibility around Hawaii?
Awesome! I plan on making more videos about all of the popular places here on Oahu! The food here alone is a reason to come though lol. It is generally flat in town/Waikiki/Honolulu. I get around pretty well, but you do have to remember that it is a island so space is limited. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for this video.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!
Do they have a similar system at Waikiki beach in the area of say where the Duke statue is an the beach boys surf rentals? I’m a para and have surfed there in the past. I want come back and surf my kayak. In the past I always had a big guy lift me in and out of the water..but having that beach chair would be much better..👍🏽
sounds like a good time
Thank you for making this video! I actually looked up the city's website and I seen the map of the beaches that offered the wheelchairs but I had no idea how it worked! Does the chair go into the water too and is it easy to maneuver in and out of the water?
It absolutely goes in the water and it floats! Some have a rope attached to it, I know that makes it a lot easier to maneuver in and out of the water. I plan on making another video at Kailua and seeing how that works out!
How does this feel when you're in the water? The wheel chair does it ride smooth in the sand I've read mixed reviews
I will ne there in August! That’s why i was searching on UA-cam and i saw your video. Thank you for making this video. So the wheelchair is free? Just have to go first and get it?
YES! FREE! It is first come first serve and you just need to give your ID as collateral.
@@coreyaustin14 thank you! Do you have any recommendations on where i should go when i’m there? Is the whole island wheelchair accessible?
Bro your dope
Do you watch Roll with Cole and Charisma on UA-cam? Very inspiring couple. He is also a C5/C6 quad.
I have seen a couple of the videos. They are pretty awesome and seemed to have figure it out!
That really looks just like a giant snow shoe with a beach chair welded on top and a couple of floaties on each side. I wonder if you can make one of those? I know there's ways to make PVC shower chairs....Do they charge you for the beach chair?
Nope! Free to use!
@@coreyaustin14 sweet!!!
Hi! My son is 10 and in a wheelchair. We are planning a trip to Hawaii in Oct to visit family. I haven't been back in almost 20 years. I grew up in Ewa Plantation. I was wondering if you would be able to give me some advice on Whhelchair accessible things to do while there? Trails, waterfalls, beaches? I want to do all the touristy things I never did while living there. Do you have an Insta or FB?
I'm renting a beach wheelchair in Maryland and it costs $500/week. I just have one question. If you are a quadriplegic, wouldn't that mean you can't use your arms or legs? My nephew is paraplegic as he is paralyzed from his mid-chest down.
If I were to rent one from a DME place, would I be able to access all beaches on oahu? Or is the only wheelchair accessibility beaches the ones that rent the chairs onsite?
I'm not sure if there is a place to actually rent a beach chair on island, but any beach park is public and if you had a personal beach chair you would absolutely be able to use it. I hope this helps? Mahalo for watching!
