I've loved MR2's from the 80's till now but I think it's very cool that he's actually helping some people's dream come true who wanted a MR2 years ago before they could afford it.
Refreshing to listen to this guy that does his own work and knows all the quirks of each of his cars instead of those guys that pay other people to do the work for them. He's so knowledgeable.
Campy Camp thank you for the kind words. When I started I just use google and forums for information and do the work. Recently, I do have more help with some of the builds. We have a good team now going one here in SoCal, where we bring non runners mr2 back to life. I have credit to those who help on each of the builds. ☺️
Can never be too much lol! Why have a car which is bound to change over time when you could have many cars of the same model in different specs and looks?
I am so happy I found this video. I rebuilt an mr2 when I was 19. Got rid of it to move to Hawaii.. for a girl.. who was boinkin some1 else when I got there. For 12 years I've wondered, imagined and dreamed of getting another Mr2. Now mr Bob can fulfill my dreams.
Kinda curious with some of these comments, seem there is a lot of envy, I myself am glad to see he is able to have such a nice collection and the ability to have such a vast collection, aside from knowing someone out there are preserving these awesome cars, I say keep up the good work and collect more if you can, i support your efforts! :)
The AW11 got me to understand mid engine dynamics which then translated into a being an exotic car instructor at Las Vegas Motorspeedway for 3 years. The Ferrari 430 and Scuderia are like an MR2 on steroids.
I don't have 14 MR2's... I only have one... But it's a pretty darn good one... '89 Super Red, T-Top, leather, pristine inside and out, less than 53K original miles. Drives like a new car. My second MR2... my first was a White' 86 I bought on Guam while in the Navy. Neither one is fast but they're both a blast to drive. My '89 is completely stock except for one thing which only an MR2 officionado would notice... My wheels are from the supercharged version. The car has appreciated in value by around $2000 above what I paid for it two years ago... And I overpaid for the car because I really wanted another MKI MR2. Great video... New subscriber.
One of my top 3 dream cars back in my HS days. 2 classmates drove them: 1 AW and 1 SW. Bought the entire Over Rev series because of the AW. Absolutely awesome vid! TY
Damn. 😍 Giving me motivation to keep going with mine. It's having problems and I'm not mechanically inclined 😭 mine is a clean shell though, no rust or anything. Thanks Bob, you're an inspiration.
I positively LOVED the opening song! I loved it so much that I had to stop your production and do some searching because I'd never heard it before..... I'll be back!
Awesome collection, I have now at some point own every generation MR2, just yesterday picked up a mint-condition 2002 MR2 Spyder for my wife, the car was in too good a shape to pass up and at a very reasonable price, but again love the work you have done with your collection, OH! by the way, even my bank said this care appears rare in their loan appraisal, not only for the type of car, but also numbers produced, so like Bob just said, the cars are becoming more valuable and worth hanginng on to, my other MR2 is a 1990, which I intend on restoring, also great car!
Love seeing Bob’s cars sell for what they sell for. He does remarkable work. And for those who know MR2s would know he’s sitting on at least 6k in tail lights alone lmao
That a true passion right there! Kudos from NY brother. Awesome and i can tell your honesty and love about the car. Keep it up and have fun with them. Yolo
Yes, the SW20 seems to hold sway in the US, and here in Australia, but my totally stock ZW30 is still dear to me, a doting old thing like me doesn't anymore than 138 horses. Thanks for posting, and what an impressive array of MR2s.
My dad used to have an 88 MR2 SC Between all the head work, valves, exhaust, ext he bumped the factory 4AGE-Z (Z tag supercharged) from it's stock 145-150 ish RWHP to around 240 Car used to scare the piss out of me as a kid but damnit what I wouldn't give to have it back.
I had a rev3 and after t-cutting it and polishing it back to the original red it was the best looking car I've ever seen. I kept it polished and waxed for a while to keep it from fading but it got very rusty on the sills. Was very sad about that. Had to let it go. It had done about 150,000 miles but the engine and the interior and the t-top glasses were still in mint condition. I still had the bags for the t-top and everything. It had an annoying aftermarket alarm on it so when you started it you had to bump under the glovebox for it to start. Loose connection in the Immobiliser I guess. Beyond that it was a great car. New clutch. replacement sports cat. Big bore 3.5 inch Janspeed exhaust and A K+N intake supplied but not fitted. I took it off after it failed emissions 2 years in a row. First year it passed with a sock in the air filter next year I decided enough was enough. The K+N made a great noise but it did rob some torque from lower down. It may have made some top end power but it was marginal. I missed the noise more than anything. Luv and Peace.
I just recently fell in love with the mk1 mr2 and i want to get my hands on one asap cause i feel like these are the cars youtubers are gonna start building. Especially the mk2 but I prefer the mk1.
Kevin Minato Thank you for those words. We have a warehouse property that we used for storage. They mostly stay in there until I need to get them out and work on or when it’s ready for sale.

I've lived probably within 1 mile of your houses for 22 years and somehow never seen an MR2 drive by, and I used to own one too! Somehow never drove past and seen them all parked out front either. Weird.
Phew I thought I was not normal when people and family tell me I am crazy and overboard with my car collection of the same or similar cars... thanks to Bob I know I am normal.
Been following Bob on UA-cam for sometime, he knows his sh$&. Love watching his builds and he is extremely thorough. Will continue to use them as a reference guide for my 2 Celica’s. So wait- no one asked where in the nuts he keeps all his cars😂😂
Zander N thanks for following me and kind words. We have a warehouse property that we used for storage. They mostly stay in there until I need to get them out and work on or when it’s ready for sale.
I got a 1991 mr2 5s-fe automatic in Ca. I was just wondering if i swap it to a 2gr with manual transmission with all stock ecu from a 2gr engine will it be still Ca legal?
Why no solar yellow? Mine was a '95 turbo 6 speed. Got slammed into the cement center divider head on with no seatbelt. I walked away with just rib damage but my MRll died! Sold it totalled for $2500 in '97
Bob Pham Bob, you wouldn’t happen to know where I can buy a red turbo engine lid would you? I’m desperately searching and nothing. These parts are getting rare!
I had an 86 MK1 I miss it soooo much. I'm 50, I want one again, but the prices kill me (cheapest right now is $10K for an 86). I don't have money or a good place to keep it, my apartment has no shade. and I wouldn't want to keep it outside. When I had mine, It was the ONLY car in the garage, the other 2 cars were relegated to the street lol I live in San Diego, wish I could come up to drool over your collection.
I bought a jade green / tan leather 94 t top turbo from the original owner in the Bay Area in 96 and had it until 03. I always wondered what happened to it. Maybe Bob has or has had it. Lol.
Wow beautiful cars I love the sw20! I’m 20 now and I’m in Chicago and it’s so hard to find a good clean one at a good price out here and only becoming harder nowadays. Might buy a shell eventually and restore it I’ve got an extra 3sgte sitting in my fathers garage from his 2nd gen celica all trac and that could be rebuilt easily.
The tri color/blue metallic one is going to Ohio? Hopefully I'll see it on the road here, I'd love to see it in person, wounder if he'll come to some Ohio mr2 meets with that car with us Ohio guys. 👀

I love this guys mission objective, of reinvigorating the world with the old skoolies. Long live the 1999 MR2 tubro t-TOP.

Pfft righto.
LOL, there's 69 thumbs up!
