on high dran cells according to info on BLF it pushes around 5800 lumens which is pretty damn amazing for this light, a lot over the rated 5000+ so it does indeed go a bit over 5000lumens, really amazing light its alot smaller once u get it which is nice. the tint and ui is among the best u can have.

Good price. I emailed banggod and they sent me a code too... not quite as cheap as this though- but I put it in the description. Just in case one expires.
See the problem is since you mentioned it was $40 at one point, now ill never be willing to spend more than $40 for it... But if you hadn't told me that I wouldn't have cared!
You have no idea how stupid excited I was to see this video show up on UA-cam. I already have the light, but it's nice getting that validation from the 'bro himself. Now I'm just waiting for an Emisar light review... ;)
Came to this channel to up my knife bro level, now I'm dropping $100 on a weird beer can light, batteries, and a charger... Wtf? This better not suck or break after the second time I use it lol.
@@HYBECTIVE It's great, as advertised. It is too large for edc though, so it has become a bit of a shelf queen. Picked up a Sofirn SP36 recently as a slimmer alternative (the high cri LH351D version woth Anduril) and it gets more use.
@inky nate Thanks for the reply! I pulled the trigger and went ahead and bought the BLF Q8, but the Sofirn SP36 sure does look appealing as well! Thank you!
Wow! Never knew there were flashlight nerds. I also did not know that there was so much to know about LED flashlights. You have enlightened me, pun intended. Thanks for the video.
Excellent comparisons between the CW and the NW. This has been a HUGE topic on BLF lately with the GT coming out. We all just found out it will be a NW CRI emitter and theres a lot of people with mixed feelings about that. After seeing this video I feel much better with the NW.
Thanks Bro. I love this thing! I thought we settled on using BEER cans from here on out. Not carbonated water cans! I think my only complaint of this light would be. The switch is too bright (but even:) And, the blink, once bumping up against the top level (end of ramping) is too brief. We often have trouble telling if we saw the blink or not. Did yours come with an AR coated lens? Mine did not, and mine is about #1200.
+Steve Kluver i don’t see a blue cast at an angle... so I don’t think so. I disabled that damn button light. They’re always way too bright. I actually had a rant about it, that I cut out of my script. It can be disabled... so all is good. My biggest gripe with the Kronos sc and ss... except those can actually over discharge your battery- which sucks. One day they’ll put a tritium like led under them and I’ll be happy.
To turn off the green light on button when shutting down, do the following: Press green light button OFF-ON-Off in quick and even motions. Timing of these clicks is important: Tip: silently count out 1-2-3 in a quick and even cadence, pressing down on the button with each count. This procedure should leave your flashlight in the off position with the light off, thus saving energy. It works with the light set anywhere on the ramping setting (not just firefly but also low through turbo). You may have to practice this procedure several times to get the proper timing between clicks of the button. Remember, the timing cadence should be smooth and quick....1-2-3.
is it timed stepdown or temperture? can i set it on turbo a little longer for when needed? does it have built-in over discharge protection? how about pwm, can you detect pwm at all? this is so gonna be my first coke can light man love your review
A lot of these are answer in the instructions. Thermal... it can be configured. It uses very high frequency PWM technically (most lights do) however none of it is visible to eyes or camera. Yes it has low voltage protection. Another question: in the video show that from turbo when it reach the temperture it will drop down to 1300 lumen. Can i sustain a higher lumen, say 3000 lumens for 30mins to 1 hour? because 1300lumen on a light that size is so under power
I almost ordered the M2r until like 10 reviews on the tail switch's lack of functions made me hit the breaks! Seems like Olight almost got it right. Damn! Been waiting since the Shot show for this one. M4r?
ThisSpotRules! The tail switch was a surprise for me too, but it makes good sense given it's primary function as a weapon light. Having the momentary turbo/momentary strobe(Enhanced Tactical) or momentary turbo/turbo for constant on(Standard), I can definitely see how this light would be perfect for mounting on a rifle in the event that tactical shit arises. It has since replaced my nitecore P12 on my rife and it is a definite upgrade. Between the Standard and Enhanced Tactical you have tail switch functions that are perfect for clearing rooms/tactical operations. You would probably never want constant on strobe or turbo in a tactical situation. If you want to use it for anything reasonable though you will need to use the side switch, unless you want to be blinded or start a rave.
What is the cheaper charger to which you refer? Usually Nitecore, Xtar, and a few others are good. This one is well regarded, but if you have one already that charges 4, then stick with it.
This would be my first 4x 18650 light. A "universal" generic charger was listed for $7.49 on banggood's site. I would hope the more expensive models are more reliable.
livevil0101 Unless it's a Liitokala, a charger at that price is more than likely utter trash. And yes, screens help because those chargers usually have lots of functions that let you check the vitals of your batteries - especially important when you're going for unprotected cells like the 30Q's.
What Dinner Fork tounge said. I'd avoid generic chinese chargers at ll cost, especially under $10. I use a Nitecore D4, A Thrunite charger, and a Opus BTc-3100. All are under $30
Interesting video. Beer Can lights are not my thing but nice to gain the insight. Also you might want to add a new testing feature, the kid factor. How many times your kid drops the light and it still works.
Hello! Your channel is to be congratulated! I'm from Brazil and I'm watching your videos. Very good! What is the best flashlight in your opinion? Which one do you recommend buying? Haikelite Buffalo MT07, 5000LM, 750 Meters - or - BLF Q8 Flashlight Review 5000LM 450M ??? Thank you!
Thanks to you, I have just ordered this flashlight 😊, I also bought Sony 18650 vtc6, they are unprotected cells. Just wandering is it really safe to place 4 unprotected together ? 😁
+supernova1976 it’s perfectly fine. I’ve never had an issue with lithium ion batteries as long as I get authentic matched new pairs for multi cell lights.
Advanced Knife Bro thanks, good to know 👍 can't wait to receive the light . My most powerful light is the Klarus xt20 @1200 lumins but always felt brighter than 1200 , so this should be a bit brighter 🤣
I got the Lii-500 about a year ago for $15 without the power supply. It's been great. No problems at all. Out of my 12 chargers, it's the one I use the most
Will they have this available for $40 ever again? And which do you recommend this or the L6? Need to get my first beer light, kind of want thrower but also want lumens... Hard choice.
Check it @banggood.. its on flashsales (2 days left).. about $49.95.. just bought it.. cant wait to see it.. hahahaa.. I owned L6 too, its a big n intimidating flashlight bro.. well built (so solid, very thick wall).. u can smash it on something without a problem due to thickness.. also quite a thrower for its size (single big emitter xhp70) I love convoy flashlight for the budget price yet good quality (but they tend to make it simpe userface), but for BLF flashlight? Ooo too good to be missed.. designed by a bunch of flashlight maniacs.. hope it helps.. cheers
id say the l6 is better, u can run at highest more or less forever or until battery runs out, the q8 is nice too but u cant run it on highest forever and i love the l6 as a mix between thrower and flooder and single emitter only.
Banggood can no longer ship battery to Canada...I have no idea where to get those battery. I will just solder top my sony flat top...are you sure this will not work on flat top at all? mine is on the way to me...and I have yet find any battery that would work on those. forgot to say, Great video as usual. Now I am waiting for the GT....
Hmm. I usually buy batteries from Mtn. Electronics here in the states. I don't know if they ship to Canada though. Some people have soldered blobs on the top of their batteries. Have you tried battery wrappers and adding a button top to your own?
Advanced Knife Bro it is not that easy to get battery warp in here. I will search for that for sure. I think solder will work. I will try flat top first since some of my flattop have higher top over the wrap a bit.
Rebuswind Then get from some local store? But you can keep checking Gearbest from time to time. There was a time where they don't ship batt or knives to my country, coze they changed their postal service coy, then they changed again n can send already. Maybe u ask them?
This worth getting? I have a 600 lume streamlight for backyard checking at night(checking for coyote's and fisher cats before I let my dog out). This the light to get for the cash?
You can use either or. There may be length issues. I use unprotected cells... the light has low voltage protection... so I’m not worried. If that UA-camr has a specific cell he has and he says it works then go for it. The downside to using protected cells may be a fit issue... cells too long could cause the lights battery tube to not be tightened down all the way... but again if someone reports a cell working and you want to give it a go- go for it
Advanced Knife Bro thanks for the reply. I just ordered the Q8 and went with the Samsung batts since the light has low voltage protection as you pointed out. Keep up the great reviews!
The cheap amazon or ebay multi-led garbage with higher lumens listed are basically straight up false advertising. All those lights claiming 10,000 or 15,000 or 30,000 lumens for 15-30 bucks are fake/junk leds with junk parts, making like 1-2k lumens, if you're lucky. The Q8 is a legit 5500 with good cells. Compared it to someone's "3500" lumen light last weekend and the Q8 made that thing look like a cell phone light.
+clange50 sometimes you can find a multiemitter for cheap- but you need to find something like 15000 lumens and maybe you’ll get in the neighborhood of 2k? I don’t buy them though.
HA! "Normal"? Overrated, IMO. BTW: Is there a special code to get a $40 price or was that a limited time special? That aside, great review on an excellent flashlight!
+Michael Jergens that was Limited I think. I actually sent them an email last night to see if they can provide a new coupon... haven’t heard back as of yet.
Advanced Knife Bro : If I had a family 'coat of arms', it would likely say, "A Day Late and a Dollar Short." LOL. No worries, but I hope you do get a reply that is favorable to some sort of discount. Thanks, AKB!
There is still some coupon left in the BLF...you have to dig in there yourself. I just got mine for 60 CAD with a coupon found in BLF...don't know if is it still work or not....PM m4dmax in BLF, he may can help you for it.
What Bro said. Nowadays my most used loadout is of lights that didn't cost me more than 20 each (Lumintop Tool CRI purchased for 10, Convoy S2 bought for 15 or 16). It's only not a hat trick because I messed up my M1's lens real good so I have to use an old Thrunite TN12 for throw.
hi, can you tell me which of these flashlights is the best or which of these LEDs are the best, here is the one that goes the furthest to the will of a wider cat. Can you help me? BLF Q8 4x XP-L 5000LM AMUTORCH AM30 XHP70.2 4000 Lumens HaikeLite MT07S XHP70.2 4500lm JKK36 Cree XHP70.2 3800lm
Seems you have a fair amount of knowledge of flashlights! I recently purchased a klarus xt11 2015 model that puts out 1060 lumens on 2xcr123's or 1000 lumens on a single 18650 battery, which it cane with. So, since I already had 2 cr123's I decided to try them out. The light gave a slight strobe and never turned on again! Checked the instruction manual and it says not to use 16340 batteries. I check on the batteries and it says 16340! Motherf@#$%er!!! Question is what do I do now? Have contacted klarus through Facebook, so just waiting to see what they say
+machendachen sounds like you fried the driver. I don’t know if that’s covered under warranty. But you were supplying too much voltage to the light. I would wait and see if they’ll replace it... but you might just need a new light
lol bud light over the seltzer... funny story I always told my daughter seltzer was beer when she was little...love the looks from the pediatrician when they would ask her what she liked to eat and drink
Daffa Wiratama Lots of collaborative effort, dedication to the hobby, and no greed for exorbitant profit margins. I mean, the Q8's design alone could be sold for THOUSANDS of dollars, and yet the creators did it just because they could and wanted to.
Update...It will work on some flat top batteries...However, the connection might be not as stable if you keep dropping it on it bottom(don't know why would you ever do that, but I am not judging). My sony US18560VTC6 flat top works just fine. I did end up solider topped those batteries due to more secure connection and very slightly higher out put. I will still recommend to use button top but it will work on flat tops at least in my scenario.
Narsil is the name of the sword wielded by Elendil! You know...the one that Sauron broke and was eventually reforged for Aragorn and renamed Andúril? That’s some deep ass Tolkien shit right there! Also I think it translates to “red and white fire” in Elvish?...but then again it’s been a while 🤓
You can run protected... you just need good a good high drain version- this post suggests a protected Sanyo GA 3500mah will work. budgetlightforum.com/comment/1119218#comment-1119218
Convoy C8 - fantastic throw for $20, you'll need 18650 battery(s) and a decent charger. The latest version has Cree XPL HI LED, but the older ones are fine too. Learn about lithium battery safety if you don't already know, they can be dangerous if you don't use them properly. I bought mine from Banggood.com, but they are available elsewhere too. The Q8 in this review would be pretty good also, similar distance but a wider floody beam.
long time away from here but always getting your notifications. I dont know if you have tried the astrolux mf01. if you did, which one will you get? considering the guys from BLF are THE GUYS for flashlights. I bought the blf A6 by your review and man, that is a good flashlight. Thanks
Fantastic review!
Thank you for sharing and putting in the time.

Who needs sleep anyway, time to watch a flashlight review!
Not me!
A UI so easy even a baby can use it. Those Bro's at BLF can straight build a flashlight! Thanks for the reveiw Knife Bro!

It's a great pleasure to "eat" your full of 2nd degree reviews. Great job and keep on 👍
Excellent review and I enjoyed your sense of humor. Thanks!

Thanks Advanced Knife Bro dude, great review as always!
Thanks man!
Q8, D4, and D1 are are my favorites for the moment.
Narsil is amazing.
The D4 is on my list.
I have those as well. Just ordered the D1S. Without a doubt, the best UI out there.
Thanks for the great content
And i love that your kids are in the video

Advanced Knife Bro why are unprotected batteries preferred instead of protected ones for this light? Thanks.
I'm wondering because another youtuber says he used protected cells. So now I'm not sure which is right.
Awesome... a lot of people really like this light. Happy exploring!
Looks like my old supfire m6, same body style?
+Gary Dioquino probably? I never played picked one up... but yeah I think these were based upon existing “hosts”
Rebuswind : I did take a look in BLF, but I can easily miss stuff. I will look a little harder and PM m4dmax if needed. Thanks for the info!
Am I a tightass if the the most expensive flashlight I own is $20?
+TookErrrJerbs nope... I waited for Black Friday maglite sales for many years
What Bro said.
BLF Q8 4x XP-L 5000LM
AMUTORCH AM30 XHP70.2 4000 Lumens
HaikeLite MT07S XHP70.2 4500lm
JKK36 Cree XHP70.2 3800lm
I prefer the BLF Q8... I have owned a haikelite and didn’t like the user interface. I am not familiar with those other two lights.
Now I am too much confused 😭
Convoy l6 vs blf q8
Which torch should I go for ?
Somebody help me please 😦
BLF Q8
Advanced Knife Bro tnx for suggest 🤝
Nice
+Enzorox !
Advanced Knife Bro Hopefully they'll let me know something next week. Thanks for the reply! 👍
lol bud light over the seltzer... funny story I always told my daughter seltzer was beer when she was little...love the looks from the pediatrician when they would ask her what she liked to eat and drink
+Chris Sproles my wife drinks the shit out of it
i always wonder, how can they make a good flashlight with a low price ?
Daffa Wiratama
Lots of collaborative effort, dedication to the hobby, and no greed for exorbitant profit margins. I mean, the Q8's design alone could be sold for THOUSANDS of dollars, and yet the creators did it just because they could and wanted to.
Dinner-fork tongue makes sense, man
4000k temp. color?
Could there be a bike mount for this light?
Anything that has a standard tripod mount for a camera would work. I’d look on some bike camera mounts
Let's be honest.
Watching a review of a flashlight running dry on batteries is almost as exciting as watching a match with snails playing soccer.
+iMeMySelf I’m with you... I say that all the time!
Good to know, flattops are YMMV I guess.
YMMV indeed, since all flat tops are not really 'flat' most of the time.
True dat
Narsil is the name of the sword wielded by Elendil! You know...the one that Sauron broke and was eventually reforged for Aragorn and renamed Andúril? That’s some deep ass Tolkien shit right there! Also I think it translates to “red and white fire” in Elvish?...but then again it’s been a while 🤓
Ah shit... I knew that, but didn't knew I know that. You know what I mean?
i just bought it and you guys could never believe me. The price is 30$. IN YOUR FACE HAHAHAHAHAHA
al Lou mini yum
I'm at 9 second in and I must skip this video in fear of spoilers cuz I missed the last episode
+ropes channel no spoilers I was just making fun on the last season
I paid $58 on Amazon today
Or you could, you know, sleep at night and just use the Sun for light.
Beer can flashlight, less filling.
+erlebo BLF Q8 ULTRA
only unprotected cells is a no go
You can run protected... you just need good a good high drain version- this post suggests a protected Sanyo GA 3500mah will work.

can i use to hunt rabbits??pls can anyone suggest me flashlights for rabbit hunts?
Convoy C8 - fantastic throw for $20, you'll need 18650 battery(s) and a decent charger. The latest version has Cree XPL HI LED, but the older ones are fine too.
Learn about lithium battery safety if you don't already know, they can be dangerous if you don't use them properly. I bought mine from Banggood.com, but they are available elsewhere too. The Q8 in this review would be pretty good also, similar distance but a wider floody beam.
I like the advanced Knife bro, the advanced flashlight bro, not so much, sorry.
+Luc Malenfant oh well
Im not new
Me neither
long time away from here but always getting your notifications. I dont know if you have tried the astrolux mf01. if you did, which one will you get? considering the guys from BLF are THE GUYS for flashlights. I bought the blf A6 by your review and man, that is a good flashlight. Thanks
I might try one in the future... working on a review of the D4 right now
im also watching that flashlight but not a good review and its out of stock on mountain electronics. hurry up with your review!!
