I have always loved flashlights. As a kid, we went on a group camping trip and the winning flashlight was the one that could shine the brightest, coherent light, the farthest (this was in the Oregon outback so there was NO other ligtht). I came close but no win....I have been a flashlight fanatic ever since! WOW!

I had some fun recently with my old Costco purchased in 2005, Thor Cyclops searchlight.
There are now 10,000 lumen H4 auto headlamp LED replacements on the market. So I put one of those in to replace the 55W halogen bulb. Then I replaced the 7Ah SLA battery with a $130 Lithium Iron Phosphate 13Ah battery.. less than half the weight in the same package and terminals. That is now my brightest flashlight. A 100W LED with a 9" reflector. New life for an old spotlight.

XV30 Lowrider Reflector is going to be improved with smoother surface since the prototype have some small rings visible, battery carriers will have better double springs,and plastic polarity protection, also some of us requested a knurling on battery tube for better grip, but that is not 100% sure.... All in all production light should be better than prototype and might have even higher candela reading..

The most informative thrower review I guess. He takes the object first on close up at daytime. Then from long distance also at daytime. Using google maps to measure, then comparing control at night with other flshlight, And the last, zooming in the object from distance. Thats really convince the viewer.

The only thing that would make that portable sun better is the ability to focus so one could spread out the beam and light a wide area also.

In this small town I live in most think I own the brightest lights ever invented already lol... Lovely giant, this one. It's a gorgeous and efficient thrower with a realistically thousand-dollar design (made just for fun, too, imagine that), and a beam profile that is actually nice to look at. I'd be SOLD if I had the room to stretch its legs, but alas, my use for a torch rarely surpasses 20 lumens indoors, and when it does, the reach I need is the 100-150 meters that my Convoy C8 on full blast already provides. The severe financial crisis in my bank account and my country as a whole doesn't leave me with the dosh to burn on this searchlight, either. Yes, searchlight, because let's be real, a lighting instrument of this size and reach does not warrant the pedestrian name of "flashlight" 😈
We need 8-bay chargers now. Wonder if BLF could strike a partnership with Xtar or Liitokala to that end.

lazlo toth - It would be extremely weak by the time it gets to them. They would not even notice if the blinds are closed. It might only be 50 lumen or less shining on them.

I'm surprised they didn't come to arrest you. I had no idea the GT was so big. I have 2 Q8s coming. Hope you do a review on that. While $160 is definitely a bargin I don't think it's a budget light. Not my budget anyway. I love the idea of throwers though.

uhh a hunter using this light will scare everything over a mile away,
Honestly I don't think it's super practical for the majority of SAR use it's way too big for hauling around in a pack and very unlikely to need a light that bright, I mean unless you are looking for a building size object, you don't need that much throw unless maybe if you were setup on a hill top monitoring a trail below.

Back in the 70’s I had a spotlight on a truck I owned. I had replaced the bulb with a KC Daylighter that was as powerful, but drew a lot of amps! Now I have a pocket LED rechargeable flashlight, not sure of the name, but it cost me $50 and has 1,100 luminaries! It has an adjustable beam that goes from a penlight like your Giggles to a decent sized flood light that lights so an area 80’ in diameter in my across my backyard at 180’!
I definitely need that light in my life but the wife will kill me. I own the modified version of thrunite tn40svn 9000 lumens 1442 meters at 52k lux 4 xhp35 hi Leds.
I can thing of worse reasons to die LOL!

SuperBo4ka I think it's worth it you are getting more light output and a much farther beam distance but since you already own a tn40 If I was going to spend a decent amount I'd buy a different beast. Sky lumen Aka Vighn modifies so many lights it's personal preference I think...
If you can afford it, go with the X65vn in that case.

You just sold another light.
It was very disappointing to get this light and find out they send you a very different light, it doesn't look or preform like the one here in this video. I don't mind paying for a quality item, most complain about price, but I never do because you usually get what you pay for, higher price comes with higher quality, but this light was a big let down when they bait and switch on you. The light that comes is more yellow and not as bright, and that is the whole reason for buying this expensive light, brightness, and long range, the light that comes is not that. You can get an Olight for 150 bucks that throws almost as good, way easier to hold and carry around and is a much better bang for the buck. This guys seems to be having such a great time with it, that's why I got it. They should tell people that the light in the video is not available to you. Stick with the name brands that have a reputation to uphold.
Hi Bill, Sorry your disappointed. If you contact the vendor you purchased from you can probly return it. If you don't want to do that you could swap the LED from the neutral white to a cool to get the more laser like effect from the prototype.

How does this compare to the IMALENT DX80 or the Acebeam X80?
Broxine, The X80 and DX80 will both be much brighter, but the BLFGT will have a significantly longer range.

nice but I think China has some cheap knock offs that use 1 or multiple Crees in a small package and maybe they only last 6 months or until you drop it, but at 1/10th the price, 90% of people will go that route

AdventureSportFlashlights have you tried the KLARUS xt12gt? I have one and wanted to know how it compares to the L16. L16 states 2000 LM but everyone seems to only get around 1600 . About the same as the XT12GT.

Tried my newest light. V54 ACEBEAM t21vn with xpgt 2 de-domed. It's not even in the same league . Out throws everything else I have . I have never been so stunned trying out a light for my first time. Even out throws my huge HID vector . With 8amp battery lol.

Hi cutcya, I had not heard of that light before, but on paper it looks almost identical. Acebeam L16 says on the box that its got a 603 meter beam distance. A big part of what impressed me about the L16 was the user interface. Reading up on the XT12GT it looks like they put a lot thought into theirs as well.
