We just got back from Rome a week ago and while I didn't see this before hand, we saw 90% of what was shown in the video. Super easy to get around the city and we felt safe at all times. Riding metro between some locations was easy.
We also took bullet trains from Rome to Naples where we then rented a car and drove the Amalfi Coast and stayed in Positano. Then a bullet train from Rome to Florence and a regular train to Pisa. All highly recommend to see as well.
Such a great trip and cannot wait to go back.

Over the years, I've been to Rome a dozen times for work. Ive been to many other European hot spot cities as well. Rome is the only place I would spend my own money to go back to.
The Metro system there is fantastic and super easy to figure out. I always stayed within a few blocks of El Centro - where the main Metro Hub is. From there, you can go anywhere easily and the hotels are fine and not as expensive as it is within walking distance of the historic district.
For beach lovers take the Metro to Osteo Lido, its the last Metro train stop going west. Get off and walk half a mile to the black sand beach. Mind your feet. That black sand is super hot, even on just a mildly warm sunny day. (ask me how I know).
There are some great restaurants, but they can be pricey. I had the best steak meal of my life there, (cant remember the name of the restaurant tho). For the budget minded, or if you're pressed for time, the food at the Pizza Rustica places is great and a lot less expensive than the cafes and restaurants - a LOT less expensive! I love me some Pizza Rustica!
For those craving to sit at a table on the sidewalk and have a refreshment while people watching - The same coffee sitting at a sidewalk table will cost twice what it does while standing. IMO, its worth it though. Dont expect the waiter to come check on you. He won't. If you need him, or her, just wave them over.
My personal favorite handout is Piazza Novona at dusk. Not overly crowded like Trevi is and plenty of tables around to sit at, rest your feet, and have a coffee or a beer.

Rome is truly an amazing city to explore. The city itself is a museum. Spent 6 nights 2 weeks ago and needed probably 2 more days. A few comments on my experience:
The food is actually lackluster so don't be overtly excited. Not many options besides puzza and pasta. The pasta is definitely better than pizza an stick to anything that has truffle. Purchase as many tour guides as you can, it will make your exploration so much more enjoyable and educational. Be prepared for insane crowds... like insane. If crowds bother you don't even think of going to the Vatican, my worst experience of our trip. There is nowhere to sit in the city besides at a restaurant. Currently at Florence which is a much 'nicer ' city but absolutely jam packed with American students so it feels like a bit life a student town. The food is so much better here though and there are many more food options which Rome doesn't offer. The history of Rome and setting the rings in person is still an unbelievable experience and will definitely be reworking in a few years time to enjoy it again.

The food is not lackluster by any stretch of the imagination. You probably found a bunch of tourist traps. Not many options besides pasta and pizza? Did you visit the city with your eyes closed? There are excellent restaurants (mostly italian, roman, japanese, thai, chinese, indian and greek), pizzerias, gelaterias, bakeries, pastry shops scattered around the city.

Love the videos , obviously your limited by time but lots more to see than the “main “ tourist traps , my I recommend a freebie day , circus maximus , up to the secret keyhole down the hill to the pyramid then behind it to the non catholic graveyard (also no passport at Vatican museums now it does say on the ticket take them but they never check now )

Not to nitpick but the Centro Storico is pretty much all of what any tourist will see. And a few minutes looking up pronunciation would help hugely.
Trastevere is NOT a good place to stay, being inconvenient for most people to the majority of sites. It IS quite charming and good at dinner time or lunch (when the cannon go off on the hillside to mark noon. )
Rome offers free city sponsored tours that take appx 3 hours to see 80% of what you mention. Only reserve a spot through city website and do tip your guide.
A guided tour of Vatican museum and San Pietro will skip the lines at Piazza San Pietro, saving potentially hours in the sun. Alternatively organize a tour of the Scavi through the Vatican website and see a 1sy century cemetery emerging inside San Pietro, also skipping the line to get into the piazza.

Nice video but I would like to comment on something that has been said already, passports in the Vatican. While there isn't a "checkpoint" where passports are checked as they relinquished it to the Italian Republic as the Vatican is a small landlocked state without ports or airports,it is useful to know that in Italy we are required to carry an ID at all times hence in the Vatican also as i wouldn't leave my ID card anywhere before going to st Peter's. Plus if i wanted to be picky (and i am 😂) travertine is not a volcanic rock but made of sediment, limescale. Plus the Pantheon is older than claimed also as a Roman i would say the pizza looks dry 😊

Take a train from RomeTermini to Anzio - walk down the hill and enjoy one of the finest and cleanest beaches in the Med.
My daughter and I went in October 2022 and had the whole beach to ourselves - a lifetime experience, in memory always and forever.
You can also pay respects to all the Allied Soldiers who lost their life there.
Rome is home for us, we have been so many times.
Castile St Angelo is hidden gem - we usually walk from Vatican City after Angelus or the Papal Audience and walk down the wall that conceals the seceret tunnel that previous Pontiffs used to escape attackers.
Guess where I will be in the Summer?

You may need ID in some sites in a new attempt officials are trying to curb ticket resellers scalping tickets. This drives up prices and makes getting them harder for actual visitors.
Carrying one’s passport is unnecessary and potentially foolish. Leave it locked in your hotel safe or Airbnb, hidden in your luggage unless it’s needed.
Your home country Driving License or other government issue ID is adequate.

That’s not true. Tickets require a little planning but can easily be gotten.
The ongoing debate Rome is resolving is how to limit resellers buying all the tickets and marking them up 100%. So you must show ID matching your ticket now, so that Rome knows that tickets are being bought for the person using them.

    Hey!
I'm currently FULL of delicious negroni's, and smoking a cigar, five minutes away from the Vatican.
Tomorrow? Much the same thing as today, then, I'm going to Molise to buy a house, and I will be using cash.
    Love to you all. Xxxxx

I live in Rome, it is very very overrated city, and the reasons for that are almost unlimited, I lived in Stockholm, Budapest, and I've visited Amsterdam, Bremen, it is the worst, it is amazing if you see some drone photos of Rome by drone..but reality is different.

I think the age of some of the sites and how relatively well they are preserved. Modern civilization as we know it was pretty much borne in Rome so there is also that.

I’m sorry... I enjoyed the sights you showed, but after like 5 minutes I couldn’t handle your butchering of Italian names. No one expects you to pronounce perfectly, but please … “Sentrow storeeko” … “Piawzaa dee Spog-na” … lol. If one is going to do a tourist video about places in Rome, one should probably learn how to pronounce names with some accuracy.

I'll be honest, Rome may look nice, but Rome is the worst European city in which to live in.
It's the only capital city in Europe that has problems with crime, traffic, pollution, corruption, poverty, and inequality. You won’t find those problems anywhere else in Europe.

Matter of taste, I guess. I never felt unsafe in many visits to Rome, as far as crime goes.
Every country has poverty. Some hide it better.
Italy generally has a cheerful chaos I personally enjoy but I could see a Gernan or Swede for example finding it unpleasant.

@dantheman5582 You're obviously a troll. No way a person with a normal IQ would genuinely think Rome is the only capital in Europe with all the problems you listed. Actually, it sounds so dumb it's almost funny.
