    I like the almost whispering, voice over commentary after the exploding intro. Its kinda soothing after jumping into icewater of explosions. Seriously it was a nice video. I bought some super heavy aluminum foil type sheets to wrap the top of the heat exchanger with. I figure it should help it last instead of rusting away from all the drippings. Instead the juices will still drip and vaporize on the heavy foil stuff instead of the heat exchanger. I am one of many I suspect, waiting on the container ship to land in port with the Masterbuilt 1050s. Apparently Masterbuilt is drop shipping them all to the end users to save the time, of another week of shipping, to their distributors. It still seems like forever while waiting for the dam thing . Ha ha! Oh well I just keep stockpiling types of fruitwood and buying accessories. I got 6 of those Kingsford Buddeez Kingsford 8-Gallon watertite storage/dispensers for each of my hardwoods. I also picked up a 25 lb bag of Lump just to see how it does against the Kingsford I bought their cherry, hickory, and apple, and regular charcoal briquets . Its still my favorite and they make some of the best accessories too, from the over 100 yr old USA company. I bought a Tell-Tru Real calibrate-able gauge to replace the "Fischer Price" stocker (as many call it.) I also got the real fiberglass tadpole seal and sealer to build it with like the big heavy USA smokers use. I know I could run the factory stuff but its just a matter of time for some of it, so why bother. I am copying the heat exchanger, and lower half of the chimney/firebox so I can make replacements out of stainless before those rust out.Those factory ones I will run, till they rot out! I guess I can fab up a water trough too. That is a good idea. Thank goodness I still have my tig welder! I have some stainless rod, I am gonna cut, for their well known, too large of briquet openings. But if you had yours clog up with ash, well, I will just have to see. I'm pretty sure that Kingsford Charcoal isn't "Dirty"! That top firebox buildup is Creosote from the wood chunks your burning/smoking. The greener woods and lower temps put out tons of creosote! Charcoal does NOT! You also can have so much ash or too much smoke wood in your ashbucket that your ashbucket gets too full. And that can eventually kill a fire if the ash cant fall down, Then the airflow gets blocked and - WHAM- No Fire!. I have used regular oven cleaner on creosote stuff like that and really filthy grates but be careful its pretty strong cleaner. Mostly I have always used the "Simple Green" cleaner for all my automotive oils/ grease stains and bbq pits, but I will look for that Pitt Boss and Weber cleaner I had no idea they made it. Thanks.

    Thanks kindly for the video. I bought my 560 fully assembled so I've had to go backwards learning the ropes so I can get it as clean as you have. Great video! I've watched quite a few videos so I'm not sure if you are the guy that I heard saying the mod to reduce the amount of coals falling through the charcoal grate in the firebox wasn't helpful,, I was having a similar problem had plenty of coals in the hopper but my temperature kept falling and not getting near my target. I thought the problem was that the mod that I concocted was snuffing out the heat. What I figured out was that if I shook the charcoal tray in the hopper the ashes above the tray would clear out and my temps quickly advanced to the proper target temp, so I'm going to stick with the mod which I do believe is saving me fuel. Thanks again!

      I've read that if you top it the hopper whilst grilling you shouldn't do so above a certain temperature. Has anyone got any advice before i start using my masterbuilt the best method I should use if I need to top up whilst on a long smoke or grill? I don't want to open the hopper if there's going to be flames shooting out from the top.

    • @manfromearth8526
      @manfromearth8526 2 роки тому +1

      I top mine (like 3/4s or 4/5s full) for long smokes but not for simple bbqing. Sometimes I forget to insert the dampers after a short cook so leaving a bunch of coals would be wasteful. Has anyone else noticed that charcoal has really escalated in price over the last year and a half? Anyway, I've not encountered any deleterious effects from simply adding coals to the hopper during a cook

    I know of people who cover their grates with foil when cooking, I cant stand that. However, would it be helpful to use foil to line the inside pan and help cleanup or even longevity of the grill?

    Thanks for the video. I believe I heard you say it was 10 cooks since the the last cleaning. Would you say that every 10 cooks or so its recommended to conduct this "deep" cleaning?

    • @thegalleryBBQ

      Depends on what you cook. Most of the time I use a pan underneath to catch all the grease!

    A piece of expanded floor grate cut to fit in the bottom of the firebox will stop the smaller charcoal from falling through.

    I bought this grill last month. Best grill everrrrrr. A couple years ago I switched from gas to charcoal and absolutely loved the change in taste it brought. Recently moved and wanted a big bbq but didn’t know masterbuilt had this. Saw it and had to get it. I’ll probably never switch back to gas.
    The only part I’ve always hated is the cleaning haha. I want this baby to last for as long as possible so I had to get er done. Thanks for the video

    Hey Tommy, love your videos!! Bought a MB560 couple weeks ago. Only have 4 cooks so far but love it. It might replace my Grilla smoker as my go to cooker. Have you used lump charcoal yet? What do you prefer, lump or regular charcoal?

    • @thegalleryBBQ
      @thegalleryBBQ  4 роки тому +2

      Good choice! Lump is awesome as it burns cleaner. But also burns faster, way faster. Because of cost I can only use dirty kingsford blue bag. Remember, I do 3-4 cooks a week! dan, keep me posted on your progress.

    Ahoy Brother!! I'm a regular to your site. I recently had a nasty experience due to my own lack of attention to detail with this machine. I keep all my grills/smokers in the garage, I pulled the Weber out to the driveway, did my cook, served my family & slid the unit back inside the garage, my boneheaded mistake was forgetting to slide the 2 "bayonets" back in their slots to stop the cook. At 0200 the C02 alarm went off & The Fire Dept. came to my home. Sat optest on my alarm system, however complete waste of their time due to my lack of attention to detail not to mention the unnecessary endangerment to my family.
    Just want to exemplify how important it is to not to forget to slide those units back into the machine.

      WOW DUDE that's some story. Thank God everything turned out ok. I once had some spoiled garlic fall behind the stove. long story short. I'm thinking gas leak. called and 3 min later my house was emptied by the cops and fire dept. lol Oh well.
