    Lao Che was played by a wonderful Hong Kong movie actor called Roy Chiao. Westerners might also have noticed him in _Enter the Dragon_ (1973), _Game of Death_ (1978) and _Bloodsport_ (1988), but he had also been in several Hong Kong movies, most notably as a judge in _Dragons Forever_ (1987).

      Yeah, Marcia Lucas, she edited the original 3 Star Wars films and won an Oscar for the first. She kept Lucas in check on some of his wacky ideas which we saw run amok with the Prequels. She ran off with one of the carpenters who helped build Skywalker Ranch. Kind of sucks, but Temple of Doom, was in my opinion, Lucas’ last great film.

    The Thugee cult was a real cult in India that existed abc 150 years ago…. The Indian government wouldn't let Steven Spielberg film this movie in India, so they got permission to film it in Sri Lanka.

      @ayacachotinemi4974 6 місяців тому +12

      They were more like a group of bandits that murdered travellers than what is portrayed in the movie. Worshipping Kali by sacrificing their victims just went hand in hand with wiping out the witnesses to their crimes. Also, they were famous for strangling rather than ripping people's hearts out.
      Another historical note: during the British Empire only about half of India was governed directly by the British. The rest was governed by Indian princes, like the boy in the film, and the British would keep a representative with a small garrison of soldiers to secure their interests and keep the loyal Maharaja on his throne. Hence Indy is saved at the end when the British consul turned up with the local garrison.
      That was why the British were finally able to suppress the thuggees after five hundred years of operation: because they knitted together the patchwork of local princes into one empire, but still worked closely with the locals. The thuggees had previously escaped by fleeing when one area tried to crack down on their activities, but the British had both the wide reach and the local knowledge to track them down.

    The Thuggee cult was real in the first half of the 1800’s in India and was made extinct by the British over 150+ years ago. It’s where the term “Thug” comes from and the movie Gunga Din from 1938 used them as villains resurrected in secret and that film inspired Steven Speilberg and George Lucas to use them again as villains for Indiana Jones.

    While this is widely regarded as the 'worst' of the original Indiana Jones trilogy, I still like it. I liked that they set it in a place and time most Americans of the time wouldn't have known much at all about, and a legend and history that was new and exotic (and, of course, pure fantasy like the rest of the films). It's hilarious watching you2 watching Indy. One more to go, and no snakes in it, so smooth viewing ahead! Well, one more great movie, I suggest last crusade be the last one you watch of Indiana Jones

    It seems to me that poor Chi has ophidiophobia - the complete dread of snakes. It's too bad movies can't say at the beginning "Beware!!! Snakes are in this movie!!!" Unfortunately, there are a lot more terrifying things in this movie than just snakes. Perhaps it might help if you remember this: there is no courage without fear - courage is knowing you are afraid but you overcome that fear.
    "Give them some food!!! NOT BUGS!!!"
    Now you need to react to a movie that is more relaxing and funny . . . WITH NO SNAKES! I suggest "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad Mad World" - I think you wonderful ladies will enjoy it.

    You should react to the Mission: Impossible films after these starting with Mission: Impossible (1996), it's another great action franchise starring Tom Cruise! or continue the John Wick series, I like when you do franchises like Indiana Jones and Harry Potter, it's fun to see you journey through the films! Some might say to skip Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny but I think you should give them a chance, who knows, you may have a different opinion to others! (I like Dial of Destiny myself) Keep up the great reactions!
