Bought this got compliments within 30 mins it's a must have , this is a very unique scent
Creed could change 400 bucks for this and we would not say it’s overpriced
Its opening does remind me very much of original vetiver 🤷🏻♂️

That's an excellent price. Pretty crazy that you can make even the bottle for 15 USD.

From my view, Artisan
Pure is quite lemongrassy on top notes. At first, not attract me so much. BUT, when it come to middle and base notes, the scent is wow. Feels like vacation at a beach. Breezy, fresh, and calm.
I kinda feel like Pure is what the original Artisan should have been - especially in the drydown. As with all JV freshies, the greenness from the petitgrain and thyme give it a slightly more "down to earth" vintage feel, while the combination of lemon and woods is reminiscent of a matured soap. An excellent fragrance for anyone demanding more than the light and metallic freshies currently overwhelming the market today. Where, to make a freshie "interesting", Dior has added pepper, YSL and Boss - ginger, Chanel and Armani - incense, Versace - tonka and fruits, Mont Blanc - apple and JPG - mint, JV is known for their greenness.

I absolutely love this fragrance can’t wait for spring/summer. It will be my signature scent this summer. I’m a huge JV fan, sadly I was disappointed when they discontinued Black Artisan it was one of my favorite scent from his line of fragrance. Top three favorite JV scent. 1- black Artisan 2- Vintage 3-Artisan Pure

Bernie777 I don't care what anyone says regarding the performance, but it's not that great. Sample it first on your skin before buying s full bottle. I love Pure, but get below average performance.
Thanks, Max. I always carry an atomizer with me because my skin "eats" the performance right out of most fragrances. So if I like a scent, I'll wear it and respray as needed. Good advice on testing on skin. I'll use blotters only at the very first, but won't buy with out the "skin test" because of the varying skin chemistry reactions. Thanks again!
Thank Bernie, very true - JV scents are great if only they performed better they'd be up there with the best ones...
Just got this and sprayed two on the front of my neck and one on the back. This scent is fantastic. It's like I can literally see and feel the scent bubble around me and I know anyone who enters it is gonna be blown away by how good it smells. I love this so much. My only regret is not getting the bigger bottle but I probably will after this one runs low lol.
My favorite out the Artisan line! I love the ginger in it which gives it that snap as you say. Something worth a backup bottle no doubt! Out here in Southern Arizona, where we only have 2 seasons hot as hell and...not so much, this great citrus scent performs extremely well on my skin.

This is so much better than Artisan IMO. The blend between citrus, florals/spices/wood is perfect. I love high-quality neroli fragrances but Artisan is too much cleaning product. This is a perfect summer/hot weather/gym fragrance.
I'm just waiting for the day to wear this. Own and love it. I own all of the varvatos frags and love them all.

How would you rate performance? Projection and sillage?
Good Day Mate it's one of the better performing varvatos frags. Still there 8 hours in. Not a sillage monster but it leaves a solid scent trail. An excellent flanker and might be the best of the artisan line.

Theres only a couple houses where i love every offering,,, but john varvatos is one of them..... i love every single fragrance they have, and this one is no exception........ i just wish the projection on them all were better
definitely a common issue with JV scents unfortunately.
Max I appreciate your reviews and we also share I believe a favorite all time scent Dolce and Gabanna (Vintage Made in Italy Pour Homme).
This to me is the best smelling of the Artisan line. It fixes the problem so to speak that I had with the original Artisan in that - the original has a bit of an underlying green earthy roughness to it and there's also something in the original that gives a picnic basket like reminiscent smell effect that is a little unflattering at times to notice when smelled up close (yes, I can smell a picnic basket in it lol). But the Artisan Pure version has a wonderful opening and even though it seems to dry down quicker on me than the original, it's also more appealing overall. The original gives me a Saturday afternoon brunch sort of vibe which is clean and considerate - Pure can give me the same feel at times but it's cripser with brighter more translucent citrus tones than originals' bar soap with a lot of orange and some vetiver vibe. I also pick up on the herbal marjoram and thyme in the opening to mid but they are smoothed out altogether and blended good with the ginger, citrus and nice green note(s).

Good Day Mate Performance is above average for the JV line, sillage is real nice for about 4-5 hours with me. I get around 7 hours total out of it. Hope this helps!!

Instantly reminded me of Atelier Boise Blondes with the neroli and strong petit grain notes. Love it.

It's good for a cheapie but for those who were intrigued with opening but wanted a bit comprehensive development try Xerjoff Nio.
Smelled this the other day, and I think I will be adding it to my JV collection for sure. I pick up the Artisan Blu DNA in this one with some new note's added. My top 3 favorite JV fragrances would be the Original, Artisan Blu, and Rebel Rider. Great review Max! 👃😊

I own the acqua di parma Essenza and don't want to have a redundant scent.

J Austin ... An apology for interupt. From my view, Artisan Pure totally different than Blu and Artisan (yellow bottle).
Artisan so citrus scent especially top and middle notes.
Blu is fresh and a bit citrussy.

who is the best john varvatos artisan pure or ALLUR HOMME SPORT EAU EXTREM ?
What'd you think of the allure extreme? I just sampled it at Macy's and I didn't see what the rave was all about. Def not bad but not what I was expecting. I really wanna know if it changes after being on skin?
I can't smell this just 10 minutes after applying. What's wrong. I love the scent but the performance is abysmal.

I must be the only one that doesn't rate this. It's not the worst fragrance I've smelled but to me it smells like an unusual floor cleaner.

Fyi i tried this at macys and after an hour it was gone. No projection at all. J. Varvatos is famous for colognes with terrible performance and this one joins that club. These designers have to get their act together and start offering quality again Paying hundreds of dollars for mediocre performance is not right. Something has to be done. If i were you i would never buy or review any again. These companies are really crapping on the consumer.
