Her eyes are like a tiger's eyes, warm and mysterious, her personality open and beautiful, her grace feminine and natural, her music ageless, radiant and powerful
Between going from her eyes, to watching her lips, to her eyes and back to watching her mouth again, eyes, mouth, eyes.....can somebody tell me what she said? GOD she's beautiful!
Flamenco music of Spain was actually begun by the Gypsi's/Romani people in Spain--as was the dancing. If you know your history, you should know that the Romani people originally came from India about 800-1000 years ago. So it is quite appropriate that an Indian musician would take this on and play it. It was also some of the most beautifully played music I've ever heard. Anoushka Shankar creates an entire story and novel when she plays--worlds come out of her Sitar. Beauty.
So rare and pleasing to hear / see an interview done by a very eloquent interviewer with interesting and well presented questions. Anoushka, musical talent aside, really distinguished herself here. Charming lady with intelligence, experience and the savvy to now conduct herself in a wonderful manner befitting her " first class gypsy" role. Well done, both of you ! ! !
I personally apologize on behalf of today's youth that you and several other classical music artists feel that they have to compete with the "juggernaut" of popular Bollywood music. Where people of other nationalities appreciate Carnatic or Indian classical more widely than we do in our own country. I believe you are doing a wonderful job carrying on with your father's legacy. Keep doing what you do!
We send our deepest sympathies and condolences to Anoushka on the death of her father, Ravi, today at the age of 92. He was a brilliant musician, a giant of world music, and she is an extraordinary part of his legacy.
Flamenco music is the music of the Gypsies of Spain. Gypsies are people from India who divided in two groups and traveled from India. One group went through North Africa and eventually arrived in Spain. The other group went to places such a Romania. Flamenco music has it's roots in India. Anoushka surely knows this. Funny she does not mention it.
4:15- 4:30 . truth has been spoken. we are so much engrossed in bollywood and shitty music, that we are forgetting our roots and the purity of indian classical music
The comments about fusion/crossover music seem to ring true. The idea of gypsies originating from India giving birth to styles like flamenco is longstanding. I remember thinking Juan Martin's Musica Alhambra album was of note for focusing on northern African as a link, but I can't remember the details now! Suffice to say: old world fusions can strike an interesting chord. And then for some people fantasies take over, like an American harpist imagining she's playing music of Hathor, but twas all made up in California, I think. Ah well. Sure if imagination eclipses authenticity it's no harm.
Her accent is so weird. It's hard to place. I know she grew up partly in England and America. Her pronunciations are slighty more British while her inflection, tones and rhythm are more american. Very interesting.
Her eyes are like a tiger's eyes, warm and mysterious, her personality open and beautiful, her grace feminine and natural, her music ageless, radiant and powerful
She is extraordinarily beautiful.
Between going from her eyes, to watching her lips, to her eyes and back to watching her mouth again, eyes, mouth, eyes.....can somebody tell me what she said? GOD she's beautiful!
Same thing is happening with me, what should i look? Eyes? Lips?? Expression?? Ow god she is so beautiful!
... her beauty is subjective and ultimately irrelevant - it's her work which counts.
Hermosa risa,es música así suena.
Her accent is such a hybrid. It's a cross between English and a Southern Californian accent. I love it!
I just said sort of the same thing above hahaha.

We send our deepest sympathies and condolences to Anoushka on the death of her father, Ravi, today at the age of 92. He was a brilliant musician, a giant of world music, and she is an extraordinary part of his legacy.

Perfect mid-Atlantic accent... some words come out half-American half British.

Incredible insight.
She has Angel. Very Special and sweet.
She has angel? WTF does that mean?
I mean that she has something very special,
We can see it in her eyes, in her smile, and in the way she talks and she plays her music.
i'd like to see more of her and norah colab..
he had some hot daughters--not to mention talented.
I think you ought to change your order of adjectives, or at least drop the obvious tawdry words.
4:15- 4:30 . truth has been spoken. we are so much engrossed in bollywood and shitty music, that we are forgetting our roots and the purity of indian classical music

He absolutely looks like he is 'wrapped too tight', but I think he's sincere.

Perfect mid-Atlantic accent.
She's maybe even more beautiful than her music.
she has a british, indian and an american accent all at the same time
BEAUTY TALENT AND TRUTH TO THE ARY. SHE BECOMES ONE WITH THE SITARS AND THE MUSIC BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT SIMPLY READ IT AND SEE IT SHE BECOMES IT.
