In this prime years Taufik Hidayat was a most complete player I have ever seen. He had speed, quality of movement, vision and shot making at a level that was, for the time, unrivaled.
It's a real shame he couldn't reach his full potential and keep up his consistency. On the other hand, Lin Dan managed to do that and became the GOAT. But at his prime, I'd still pick Taufik in a 1vs1 against Lin Dan.

This era was nuts. The power and accuracy of young LDs cross smashes and down the line smashes meant they had to pick one to cover. Not many in history could force a player of prime Taufiks calibre to have to hedge like that on lifts. And the mental fortitude of Taufik to survive that barrage of offense with such quality play. Truly a golden era.
you see taufik still using alot of forehand shot on his backhand side and does alot of damage back in the day. Then used alot of backhand shots as the years went by. Could've used that round a head shot on the backhand side more often to win more rallies and games. Too bad, used too many backhands in his later years. He's also way more energetic here. Moving around, jumping around. He was unstoppable.
Axelsen, who dominated men's singles, was beaten by Momota with a head-to-head of 14-1 (before Momota's accident). Momota didn't even come close to the level of Lin Dan, Taufik, or LCW. This shows just how great those older players were.

LD respect TH more than LCW. Because TH is more skillful than LCW & TH win LD in important matchs but LCW not!. But, LCW have a great/long career than TH :)

Lin dan was still winning titles up to 2017, even winning a title in 2019. thats a 9 year difference, for a 2 year age difference. Watch LCW vs Momota in the 2018 malysian open final, you realise that as much of a difference as age should make, if the athlete takes care of there fitness (which lin dan had little need to), then the better player will still win.

Linden was sill young, didn’t have enough experience at the time.
Lindan hadn't fully develope skill set and strategy yet. He just had some speed and strength advantage, more like LOH Kean Yew or LEE Zii Jia.
