I absolutely love the decorative stand that you put the wheelie machine on!!! It reminds me of the Victorian days where even the tools were beautiful rather than just functional!
I enjoy the banter between John and yourself, it makes the segment so much more enjoyable. Kudos for your engineering triumphs. I look forward to the next episode.
Love the stand! That's exactly what it's supposed to look like, so kudos for finding something that's locally-made and era-correct. It's been one heck of a journey. Good that John's in the shop, too. He always makes an episode better. 😁
Dom your videos are like hanging out with a friend. You are not just telling us about things, you show us your excitement and joy of doing what you do! Always great vibes!
Coming along nicely - I think we all need an Uncle John to come around, share wisdom and help out occasionally! I'm looking forward to the 1/4 size Ranalah myself as I still don't have room for the 1/2! (Or maybe the keyring/ bottle opener sized one!)
Fantastic to watch some home made and fine quality engineering production. I love the fun working relationship you seem to have with John. Educational, light hearted and top class work :)
Monday morning.(Australia) no better way to start the week. I can't wait to see how it all comes together and works as per the original. I'm totally confident that it will. Thanks again Dom, Brilliant!
Looking so good Dom!!! That stand suits it so well. If it's stable enough, then I would suggest looking into casting some. Greatto see you approaching 100k subscribers too. Already double the number when I joined in a very short time :)
Hi Dom' . You are so lucky to have Jon to hand . Must say small is beautiful . If l had a bigger shop (and money !) I'd love to have one of these miniature masterpiece's !Congratulations to you both .
I think the cast stand suit the “Ranalette” wheel Dom, perfect dimensions and you can always add spacer plates to suit a users height, added bonus…❤ Ranalah…
Love the alignment jig. Maybe go for ¾ scale on the hand wheel. Maybe a two-tone paint job on Ranalah and stand, and somehow beautify the adapter plate.
Great work , looks awesome 💪💪 Put the cradle in an oven first then it should go on the shaft without pressing it on. The stand is perfect. Can’t you cast more of them ? Good luck
Well done Dom. Just a tip I was taught at engineering college - when tightening any bit in drill chuck, you should use all three holes to engage the jaws.
A drill chuck is self centering, and the holes are just that, holes only to support the tip of the chuck key. It's the same bit being pushed round like a gear no matter where you put the key.
You could make a stand of hot rolled angle steel. A bit like the Eifel tower.. and maybe ad Big rivets to keep it in style.. or use your plasma cutter and make a chape like that and weld it (from the inside.) Trying to keep it cost effective.
Lovely result. If you ask me, a cast base, integrated nicely with the Ranalah on top is the only way to finish this little beauty. Thank you Dom, cheers.
What a great bit of kit. I bought a big old 3phase grinder on a similar stand (A bit bigger) in an auction. There were two things I wanted in that one lot, the stand and an unused creasing hardy tool that looks unused for an anvil. I later sold the grinder off and have kept the stand obviously. On the look out now for a Ranalah or similar brand looking for restoration, though I may end up having to make my own English Wheel.
Hi Dom, the stand you used looks really great. I guess you need to make your own from here on, that will give you chance to eliminate the adaptor plate. With the stand the whole thing starts to look quite big again and ups the cost. Might be worth costing out a fabricated version. Mind you I would love to see the whole design, pattern making and casting exercise all over again!! I wish you luck and look forward to seeing the testing All the best!!
I think the period stand looks absolutely perfect. It really suits the machine. Really hope I can get my hands on one of these soon love watching your video. Thanks ian
Hi Dom, The Mini Ranalah looks great, my only concern would be that lower m12 threaded rod to adjust the bottom wheel, I'm not sure this will hold up over time, it just looked like any regular zinc plated threaded rod you can buy from a builders merchant, these are not very hard and being a standard thread pitch are not designed for constant adjusting use, I think you would be better off using a proper hardened machine leadscrew the sort of thing you can buy off the shelf from HPC Gears.
Loving the mini Ranalah 👍🏻 maybe knock up a steel recreation on your cnc table that looks similar to the cast stand. Or come up with a cool deco design to match the Ranalah. Might be a relatively cost effective way if you made a batch of them? Put it out there see what people think 🤔 Add a shelf to keep the lower wheels on as well just a thought. All the best
Love the old cast iron stand! The only thing that makes me sad is that I fear shipping to Canada would cost more than the price of the 1/2 scale. Will be but a dream to own one, but still a joy to see it being designed and brought to life! Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Yes, the plinth/base needs to be kind of an end of the industrial revolution era ornate look. Love to see the stand the same color you used on the Repair Shop fix of the life boat collection box.
That stand looks the part. It would be nice to have some sort of adjustable height stand to accommodate different statures. Nice job Dom and Uncle Jon.
Dome nuts and spring (locking)washers would finish it better.Look good, and no nasty threads showing! I think the bolts are welded into place,as they seemed solid when locating the Ranalah onto the base.
This is an example of what is best about British engineering: an ingenuity: one man and his Dom. But the problem is that once the enthusiastic creators are no longer with us the excellence of British engineering is no longer with us. I think of British hifi as an example, when UK companies such as _the Acoustical Manufacturing Company_ produced world beating kit such as the Quad 405 (I have several), but once the enthusiast has shuffled off this mortal coil the quality product has too. Our nation needs to create an environment where our skills and enthusiasms can be passed on. Why has our country never managed to succeed with passing on skills?
Hi Dom, excellent work as expected. The stand looks fantastic, except. I think it needs to extend further out under the Ranalah so that it looks aesthetically stable. Clearly, if it's bolted to the floor all will be fine, but as it is, it just looks a little unbalanced (if you get my drift).
I absolutely love the decorative stand that you put the wheelie machine on!!! It reminds me of the Victorian days where even the tools were beautiful rather than just functional!
Thank you for sharing, this is so much fun to watch.
Nice great tool.
NOW it's time for the 356! ! !
Lovely job lads . Now tea for two.
I enjoy the banter between John and yourself, it makes the segment so much more enjoyable. Kudos for your engineering triumphs. I look forward to the next episode.
Glad you enjoy it!thank you

Might need to be bolted to the floor, It's quite top heavy
@@graemebrown7691 No "might" about it. That setup is about as stable as me after a few beers, so bolting it to the ground would be advised! 🤣
That’s a belter and rather like the stand. 👍👏
17 minutes of pure Sunday night Gold! 😁
Thanks for watching!
The Half-Sized Ranalah wheeling machine is looking FANTASTIC! Well done, Dom & Jon! 👍
Thanks 👍
That Wurth sponsorship deal must be just days away!
They better be quick or the Loctite sales team will be jumping the queue 😂
Beautiful, precision work Dom . . . it was a pleasure watching that episode.
Thank you very much!
Dom your videos are like hanging out with a friend. You are not just telling us about things, you show us your excitement and joy of doing what you do! Always great vibes!
Looks fab Dom. 👍
Absolutely stunning stand perfect for the mini Ranalah need to get more cast! another brilliant enjoyable video a joy to watch.
Dom, cast the base as on option. They will sell.
Coming along nicely - I think we all need an Uncle John to come around, share wisdom and help out occasionally!
I'm looking forward to the 1/4 size Ranalah myself as I still don't have room for the 1/2! (Or maybe the keyring/ bottle opener sized one!)
Looking forward to seeing how the mini Ranalah performs dom Looking totally awesome and amazing as always ❤
Brilliant I like the cast base thank you for creating this video
I'm glad you like it
Funny to hear you say Sunday at 5pm when I watch you every Sunday morning at 9am here in California. Always a great start to a Sunday morning.
And I watch at 5am (well 7am by the time I'm fully awake) on Monday morning here in New Zealand. Greetings from the future!
I enjoy a lot your friend ship!!
Makes the difference!!
Mini Ranalah!!!👌 Let's see how it works!!😋

Hi Dom & uncle, I love it when a plan comes together, looks amazing 🤩, All the best Brian 😃
Thanks so much
Looking so good Dom!!! That stand suits it so well. If it's stable enough, then I would suggest looking into casting some. Greatto see you approaching 100k subscribers too. Already double the number when I joined in a very short time :)
Thanks for the support!
Definitely the cast stand!
Absolutely fabulous 👌 really like the base in the video it goes so well with all things Ranalah
Thank you so much
Love the stand Dom. Looks the part and as if it was made for the job😁
The Ranalah Junior looks great on that stand.
Maybe you could get some more cast to sell with The Ranalah
You deserve 10x the amount of subscribers. The amount of graft you must put in on top of the work you film blows my mind.
Thank you, it’s early days but I hope the channel keeps growing! Thanks for the support
Love the stand as well. It’s a perfect combination!
Johns a legend! 👍
He is!!
Great work, interesting as always thanks.
That's great!
I like those new fangled drills, I wish we had them when i was at work.
Hi Dom' . You are so lucky to have Jon to hand . Must say small is beautiful . If l had a bigger shop (and money !) I'd love to have one of these miniature masterpiece's !Congratulations to you both .

What a pretty piece of cast iron. Nice.
Thank you kindly
Like the New look Dom
Thank you for sharing this film
Well, Dom, John in glue went so well you really should STICK with him 😂
Sorry, couldn't resist that 😐🤣🤣🤣
Cool video, great progress. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Thoroughly enjoyed it 👍
Like the stand dom
Top stuff!
Lovely cast stand, the transition plate from stand to mini Ranalah wants to be prettier. 👍🏽
I was thinking exactly that. The stand looks like it belongs to the Ranalah... until you get to that cobbled up transition plate.
The period correct stand is the way to go. Looks the business.
That look from john definitely suggested you smoked thise coffees! 😂 This is a brilliant series, great work.
Great stand, fits perfectly and even got 4 holes in the corners for a required stable position. 😄👍
I love the baby Ran. That stand is perfect.
Glad you like it thank you
Outstanding sir.
Well done Dom.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

@landroversforever
Very fair comment.
Only quoting my instructors from 50yrs ago.
Brilliant job guys...
That old school stand for the mini is awesome! Spot on.
It’s looking the business Dom and John.👍👍
great eoisode Dom, i love the stand for the mini ranalah, keep up the great job, got my sticker set this week and cant wait to find them a home
I love that stand. It just look right!
Thank you!
Great job with the baby! ✨
Looks fab, well done guys.
Thank you!

Olden time quality precision craft .. Well Done D & J.
Fantastic, well done guys!!!
Lovely result. If you ask me, a cast base, integrated nicely with the Ranalah on top is the only way to finish this little beauty. Thank you Dom, cheers.
They look brilliant. I would love to have a reason for buying and using one.
Would love to see them painted with that turn of the century black and gold pin striping. Thanks for sharing the journey!
I've got a picture in my head of dark green with gold details, like the old GWR colour scheme.
The Baby Ranalah reeks of precision and quality. Two of my favorite presenters of quality video. Well done! 🇨🇦
very art deco
I have japanning!!! That would look amazing as the black

Looks Great Dom ! Can't wait to see it tested and tuned by your expert panel beater friend. Thanks John for all you do keeping Dom moving forward !
Looking great lads. Well done another fantastic video
Great job - looks fantastic. I think the stand you put it on looks perfect.
Excellent project, great results.
Mini Ranalah looks fab. Can’t wait to see it up & working with the maestro in Cornwall.
I would go with the cast stand very in keeping with the rest of the project
I think the period stand looks absolutely perfect. It really suits the machine. Really hope I can get my hands on one of these soon love watching your video. Thanks ian
Stand good... thx for dharing
Great job guys!! Might I suggest a bottle of your favourite alcohol to celebrate your success!!!
That sounds like a great idea!

You might be surprised! I’ll work out shipping once they are finished I will try my best!
@@DominicChineas I'm afraid to guess thay kind of weight going across the pond ...
Yes, the plinth/base needs to be kind of an end of the industrial revolution era ornate look. Love to see the stand the same color you used on the Repair Shop fix of the life boat collection box.
that top wheel would look great if it had Ranalah etched on it so you could see it from the side. but it looks great keep smiling nobody saw it !
This is a prototype, the final ones probably will have
Hi Dom & John. That was good to watch & now almost there well done to you both.
Off to Bristol! That’s my neck of the woods, would love to meet up with you while your here Dom
It's great that you leave all the noises in great job guys
Even the terrible ones the mill makes!! Haha
That stand looks the part. It would be nice to have some sort of adjustable height stand to accommodate different statures. Nice job Dom and Uncle Jon.
A spacer between the stand and ranalah would do that! Could be ply even
Dom ,love the build strictly speaking that glue isn't glue as it fixes by expansion.
The stand is perfect in my opinion. Suits the brand. Baseplate nuts would look better as ball ends.
Excellent job, but my O.C.D thinks the bolts holding the Ranalah to the base should be threads down?
Dome nuts and spring (locking)washers would finish it better.Look good, and no nasty threads showing! I think the bolts are welded into place,as they seemed solid when locating the Ranalah onto the base.
Great video Dom, almost there now. Hope the rest run in Cornwall goes as smoothly. I can actually see these mini machines selling really well now.
Looks great and i really like that old style base you mounted it on. It fits perfect. 👍🏻😃

Love following the Ranalah journey 👍 Maybe consider a variable height stand 🤔 not everyone is average height...whatever that is!
You can call it what you want, but it really is the ENGLISH WHEEL!!!!
Not in England!
Definitely something to think about thank you
Its a very nicecstand.
Ranalah the only wheeling machine you need!! Great to see it close to finish, hope it works as well as you hope
Another great video Dom thanks for making these videos.
The stand looks the part you would have thought it was designed for the Ranalah in first place
When in doubt, give it a clout!! Great job there, team.
And don't you just love the British weather also hammering down but on your roof!
Awesome boys, well done 👍
