Ah, Avatarika, aka "Dom-3", aka the first "reality show mmo", the OG mmo made for middle aged women that was, actually, very popular with them in 2006-2007. It was originally an official tie-in for the one of the most popular reality shows in history, russian "Dom-2, Build your Love", which ran for 16 years (2004-2020) on the most popular entertainment channel in the country (TNT), they aired a new episone every 6 hours, daily, with millions of people (mostly middle aged women) watching them every single day. p.s. The "yeehaw" sound effect is from PilotWings 64!! It's been over a decade since I played it and that sound is still cemented in my memory.
I'm shocked NIntendo didn't sue this game for stealing a sound effect from one of their games.
@@GatorRay Someone not Russian would have to know of its existence first..... whelp, their time has come.
"relationship failing and harming your social status (and imcome)" - isn't that how it works in real life too? You loose half your friends and half your money
2:00 Your dog is a big ball of snow, he'll love it in there.
Those lyrics. I want that song played at my wedding.
Got me drop my jaw, then burst into laughter at how out of place it was
play it at my funeral
it's not even a song long, it's a christian propaganda film thing.
Josh, the song you chose is literally named "A Letter From Hell" by some artist called Indigochild. I think the devs just chose the songs that sounds funky.
I remember this game, it was originally released in 2006 when I graduated from school. I don't know how the game is still alive ...
Its original name is Дом 3, and it was somehow connected with the popular, at that time, reality show of the same name.
3? What is it with these Devs and the number 3? They're like the anti-valve
блядь, это что, та же игра в которую играл мэддисон???? 0_о
@@TheBonkleFox the reality tv show is called "Дом-2", the game was an official tie in, so they called it "Дом-3". The reality-TV show was not just popular, it was "air a new episode every 6 hours in prime time on the most popular TV channel for 17 years" kind of popular, it was EVERYWHERE.
Of course it's from 2006. No other game's aesthetic screams mid 2000's as loud as this.
@@troublemaker267 ТОЧНООООО, Я ВСПОМНИЛ. Я-ТО ДУМАЮ ЧЕ ИГРА ТАК ЗНАКОМО ВЫГЛЯДИТ
I love how it looks like Apollo has no clue what's going on. Reminds me of when SomecallmeJohnny was chasing after his cat Selene in his Crash 4 review due to how bloated it is in terms of content.
Oh jeeez one of the first russian video- bloggers Maddyson now known as streamer HoneyMad started his career mocking this game back in 2008
Wrong...
2:00 look how disappointed this dog is! “Uh I didn’t come all this way to be in some lame skit -you better throw a ball or give me a treat er something”
So they wanted to make a mmo about The Sims, how do you screw that up?
They asked EA what to do.
They could just copy The Sims: Urbz for GBA, I bet it can be made into a good social MMO with little adjustings
I FOUND IT, the audio, I know what it is from!!! @10:07 - The "Yahoo" - it's a slightly slowed-down maybe down pitched as well, sound effect of when you character select LARK from Pilot wings 64
as for easter Orthodox easter this year was actually 2nd may. the one saving grace of the game it got the correct easter
between that and the christian song from the dancing minigame, maybe this was secretly a christian game the whole time
When I wonder about if I’m missing out on another game playing ESO, I can always watch one of these videos. Haha
The "wahoo" and "yeehaw" are from a character named Goose in Pilotwings 64
Holy shit, you're right! I wondered why I recognized those sounds.
Glad I'm not the only one who recognized it.
I wonder if that counts as a Nintendo Reference or a TopGun reference?
Dude, those lyrics... 😣 The part at 10:55 where it goes "What if your friend sent you a letter? A letter from HELL..." and then the BIG red "MISS" appears with the red lighting was a bit sinister.
"how did this design get past the 'ideas' stage?" - me asking god about life
That will happen if the designer is the same guy as the tester.
Don't worry, it'll probably be fixed next patch. Just hang on for another few billion years.
You just need to be born with the 1% dlc for the game to get good.
i'd love to see you take a look at "will to live online". one of the few MMOs i personally tried - and while it's not as completely hopeless as some of the games you've covered, it might still be fun to pick apart.
"..any desire, unobtainable in real world, can easily be solved in Avatarika'
Oh cool, so I can be happy for once?
No, is Russian game.
Yes. But only once. Further happiness will have to be bought in the cash shop.
@@Dilligff Hey, I heard you can get rubles at bargain prices.
10:40 that´s just so surreal one could think this a "I´m doing mushrooms without realizing it" moments
About the Easter eggs, Orthodox easter was on May 2nd this year
Was just about to comment that, but I saw quite a few people already correcting him.
Josh I just found your channel recently and I absolutely love your reviews. They're long form, which I enjoy a lot and both your personality and humour click with me so well. I really hope your channel grows a lot!
This is the funniest games you've covered so far, laughed pretty hard when the game started and it had the tiny resolution + huge garish pink UI combination going on, I thought the video peaked there but the shitty dancing minigame with yee ha sound effects and gospel music was even better. Amazing fever dream of a game.
Wait that was gospel music
@@polytanksan5761 I dont think it was actually gospel music.. but then again.. hard to say! I rate the song "not sure if gospel or not/10".
@@p4nnus it would be kinda hilarious if it was
Man, those Wahoos and Yeehaws are absolutely Goose from Pilotwings 64. I'm somehow not surprised these developers would just steal sound effects.
What a gorgeous puppy! (Yes that is all I've retained from this whole thing ---the PUPPY)
Great video as always but im truly happy to see your channel is growing so much right now!
Apollo is adorable. 🥰
He also looked like "Dad I think you need to give the internet a break yeah" XD
I appreciate that you made the dog speak in a British way.
On the one hand i would like to see you ingame once. On the other hand....i dont want to find out my game is one of the worst games XD
Just come to Otherland. There you might see him online :)
To be fair, he sometimes comes out of these Worst MMO Ever videos with a positive outlook, so you could get lucky lol.
I'm Russian and I played this game in 2010 I believe....
it hasn't changed. they only added dance thing from other Russian game (a dancing game of course. the interface and the sound effects are the same) and that's all lol
I remember when there was A LOT of people, I wasn't donating in games, so everyone was rich except me.
BTW on the Easer comment, Russia is a predominantly Orthodox Christian nation. and in Orthodox Christianity Easter was last week.
Subscribed because I'm glad I'm not the only one with a desktop that resembles a brutal murder scene.
Seeing ToriVega as a username, just makes me feel like I’m watching a video from 2011
I was wondering if someone caught this lmao.
The character running animation is very…. flamboyant
Oooo prestige levels! /pinkyup
I'm not one to ever feel uncomfortable but that song got me, I've seen beheadings that bothered me less for real I have no idea why I'm soo off put by that
Don`t worry that`s normal. It is the fear of the Russian guy getting serious.
Apollo is the cutest lil pup I've ever seen. 10/10 video
The cloud's name is Apollo?! That's so cute!
I love Apollo! We need more of your dog in the videos!
I chuckled at the "...is not actually your friend" line. Well played.
got me too
POV: You’re playing a DDR game with a hot pink ui, Mario sound clips, and a song about how your friend will go to hell for not believing in Jesus.
Who'd have thought Russia would make the world's best capitalism simulator. Crazy.
Great video man, thanks. Really neat cameo from Apollo too!
Your Apollo looks EXACTLY like my Bailey, I love that little fluff ball
Your dog is adorable! And hope everyone is having a good day.
3:46 Walking backwards looks like you're terrified of running into a tree with a disasterously placed branch.
Apollo's an arctic fluffy boi he'll be ok.
This series is awesome. And I don’t really play that many MMORPG’s.
Next maintenance happens in 2017 according to the launcher? That's probably fixing all the issues.
Apollo beloved
My heart is melting at how fluffy and adorable they are
Oh god the dancing scene I had to look away, the flashing is so bad it caused me physical pain
OMG the transformation, pupper looks so happy now.
Okay, but can we appreciate how unreasonably adorable JSH's dog is?
One of your funniest videos yet, and that's really saying something, especially when the game is so clearly not entertaining in the slightest! I lost it at the "LETTER... FROM HELL" thing.
"I'm actually intrigued by the concept of death.."
Me too Josh, me too.
Sipping a beverage every time you hear the word "virtual" would lead to dangerous inebriation.
Or death, holy hell.
I hope Apollo got some treats and love after the freezer confusion, he seems like a good boy.
AWW! Your doggo is so sweet :3
10:07 - That cheer isn't just mario but one of them is definitely Pilot Wings 64. 100%. The character's name is Goose!!
The possessed spinning menu's was a nice touch
Perusing old videos, pausing out of curiosity and nosiness, and noticing a folder of Paul Shapera's music made me smile :)
