- Here's the story of how my friend and I ended up in a cult using HelpX.
The cult is called the Twelve Tribes, they have communities all over the world ! One of them is located in Katoomba, Blue Mountains, Australia where they own a restaurant/café called the Yellow Deli.
(HelpX is a web site that connects people looking for help with their farm/house/garden etc. and people who want to travel for little money and eager to meet people. It is a great way to travel on a budget since in exchange for the help you get to stay at your host's house, where they'll provide bed and board)
But as usual you never know what you're going to get! Be careful who you trust!
Cults/religious sects are dangerous - Hopefully not teaching you anything here!
They have very elaborated manipulative techniques, and target specific type of personalities. People lacking support from their families, people going through hard times, emotionally weak and they take advantage of that.
Isolating that person, making them give up everything pertaining to their life. Which makes it hard/impossible to eventually leave the cult.

If you travel using HelpX try and get reviews/information from people who were previously at your host's house.
I wish you the best of luck and great times on your trips. Stay safe. Take care ;)

Thank you for your interesting report
I used to live next door to balmoral on bathurst rd. many many many maaaany wiggy experiences and things overheard from the twelve tribes. they called me a witch.
I lived with them before...arrrrgggg. Did you hear about the raid on their property in Picton, Autralia? They found corpses of a number of dead babies...buried in the dirt...not even in graves...not even unmarkedgraves...they were apparently reluctant to notify the authorities of the death in order to avoid scrutiny. And then a few months ago a teen from the group killed a former leader and burned his house down. YUP!!! They are very normal people alright...got lot's to offer the average Joe.
I had no clue oh my god. Pure crazy ! 😰
@@nayanka4187did you make it out of there??
@@nayanka4187god bless you ❤
@@24k.purelife yeah of course otherwise you would have seen this video !
Wow i just stumbled upon your page and went to watch your other videos and notice they were all in french. Id never thought u were french you have a perfect english :)
Aha thank you ☺️
used to be a multi combination truck driver and grew up in sydney and still live in sydney. I stopped in there once on the recommendation of a friend and when they started asking me personal questions, sorry gotta go... Very informal video, thank's for letting me know whats in my backyard hahaha. By the way i love the philippines, hope you went to palawan to the underground river.
I lived in the TT for ten years. This was a shock to you because you are very worldly and main stream. Disciplining your children has been going on for thousands of years but people think its a new thing.
Thanks for sharing the info! Where are you from btw
Sure! I'm French :)
+Na Yan Ka: Great video, thank you for explaining your experience so clearly, it is a great warning for any traveler. The Twelve Tribes use not only HelpX, Couchsurfing, WorkAway and WOOF to recruit. I am curious +Na Yan Ka. When you saw their entry on the HelpX website does it have any mentions they are a community of believers? do they say the word Yahshua or do they say their real name? or do they hide who they are and pretend to be a family?
I'm don't really know, sorry. My friend took care of making the arrangements ! Plus it was three years ago now. I believe it was a regular ad because my friend was used to using HelpX so she knew what she was doing. On their web site they say they're a community indeed as well as on the flyers they have in their restaurant. Although if you're really interested you can probably still look them up on HelpX they might still have a page !
They call Jesus Yashua and do not use their real names but rather new ones given to them when they are baptized. I'm pretty sure they got banned off work away for a lack of disclosure.
Next time, try Gloriavale in NZ. They're just as kooky (but they're kiddie fiddlers too, so beware in that regards) but just as culty.
I used to know what the meetings were called, but my post trauma mind has blocked it all out.
Gatherings?
@@cathy2earth no..they were called " minhas"
The attraction is simple. Good food, clean comfortable place to live, some comradery and friendship, and no need to worry about anything ever again. People typically come from chaotic and difficult lives dreaming of simplicity...too bad it's not there. I found many of the people there were flat out mean, or could have been sent back to whatever asylum they were released from. People there were not "good", but evil. My opinion.
Totally agree. The niceness is a fascade. Most ppl dont get along. Women only reat during festival's some of the homes dont have running water thiugh they arre on properties that do but I often used an outhouse.
The wierd thing for me was wen men didnt wanna hear their wives they held there hands up to silence them.
I was visiting and the leader of the Tribe if Gad Isaac and Joy Dawson had me sit in there room for 2 hours and spent time with me till my Imma came n got me and we went back to bunkies. But Joy and my Imma ( Chayah) were both silenced by their husbands i front of me.
I left believing women should make no decisions and men were only stable enough for that.
I did go WOOFing my relationship with TT is gwry wierd Ive emailed with them for 2 years over 3000 times ( no exaggeration).
I worked in the yellow deli most vizitorz work.in fields but my Imma is highup ranking member so we hung out in the AC deli all day
Hi since you have expirence with help x can you lead me to SAFE farms
This was my first and I only experience with helpX sorry, although I recommend you join Facebook pages and discuss the matter with backpackers / HelpXers and they’ll guide you. Hope you find safe places to stay !
Don't mess with cult of course!
BUT... I was living in an abbey during secondary scool and it was quite the same. (Not the beating and medicine part of course.) I really liked it.
I used to eat there until I found out what they are like
The food is still good we can’t deny that ...
I'm pretty sure they have been banned from workaway.
Well that’s only fair...
lmao. I've lived in this cult in Canada. (thanks mom)
Which community did you live in? I was in Argentina, but I am Canadian and am familiar with some of their locations...by name, not ever been to any up there. Your mother was a member?
What up tribe of Gad child
@@andrewmurphy2133 I lived in a few. Mt Sentinel and Chilliwack where the main two.
@@Kalumah wow...two of you guys...

The Yellow Deli is a religious group
You are not open to other cultures obviously. They are not meeting they are gatherings. They worship morning and night. They dont recruit. They use their life as example and you can visit for years and never move in. Know your facts.
Read the articles and complaints of members who suffered at their hands.
Found the cultist
Name any given religion or organisation and you can find people complaining online.
Your account is really just your perspective. Just as I find you a very boring basic wannabe influencer who should cultivate a personality and some charisma. Your eyes are freakily far spaced apart too, creepy
Yes you can never move in but they also pray on vulnerable people who are struggling financially. “Culture” is not beating children as young as 6 months old for crying. As well as emotionally abusing the people who did decide to join. There’s a podcast called “inside the tribe” you should listen to it, it gives you all the facts.
If you have never read the Gospel it won't be the brightest idea of yours going to the TT.
Read the Gospel 1st please.
