Wendy Jo Sperber was known back then for having just starred in the short-lived series 'Babes', about three not-so-thin sisters who thought they were hot. It was a match made in heaven to have one of them meet Al, and she plays pretty much the same character here. Susan Peretz, who played another of the sisters, later had her own spot on MWC, playing the unforgettable Ms. Blaub.
My favorite "Polk High Jersey" moment was when Al, forced to fight Igor in Lower Uncton, donned his ENTIRE football gear, meaning he took it with him to England for some reason. As if he figured a spontaneous American Football game would break out in London or something, lol.
I heard that even the actors who portray ugly characters have to be pretty good looking in real life. Other wise they will look too ugly on the screen.
One of the most memorable one-off characters and moments on the show. Wendy Jo Sperber was so charismatic and talented, she was a riot in this scene lol, RIP.
I remember her in "1941", she played one of the girls entertaining the soldiers in the USO club. She had a crush on the character played by Treat Williams. Great Movie.
Judging by the audiences reaction, it seems contrary to all the fat shaming jokes Al made, he didn’t necessarily speak for the majority of men when it came to appreciation for the attractiveness of larger women. Though needless to say, chubby chasing was probably far less common back then.
No it’s still fat/overweight. Thick usually refers to curvy women meaning hips, butt, thighs. Pear shape as that’s where most of the weight would be. They’re not necessarily overweight that’s just where they carry their weight. Stereotypically black girls and Latinas have that shape.
Sad what has happened to not only fox, but tv in general. We used to not get offended by anything, which made this show great. Now people offended by everything, which makes tv suck.

I hate to be this guy but: I can’t be the only One who found this woman attractive, can I? I get that she’s not as thin as she once was, but she’s less obese and more of a full figured woman. I don’t mind that so much, especially when she comes on to The men in her life like that. This woman, dancing to blue velvet, in blue velvet.
I looked up an old girlfriend from high school a year ago. I graduated in 1977. I couldn't believe that she didn't look anything like before. Her face and body were so different. Not ugly . Just wouldn't have recognized her passing her on the street. I'm sure she thought the same of me. Enjoy your youth. It's the one thing you cant hang on to in this life.
I often wondered if Ed O'Neill knew what he was getting himself in for in doing a scene with Wendy Jo Sperber (some of his reactions in this scene were kind of "un-Al like"). She could steal a scene from pretty much anybody, as she did here. She was a comedic tour de force. So sad she's passed on.
