I really like the comparison videos 👍😎 It would be fun to see a day-in-the life vlog
This was very helpful! Seeing your GS go in an intermediate gave me lots of relief in purchasing that size for my 38 pound mutt who is 22 inches at the top of his head. It would be his everyday at home kennel, and I was worried it would be too small. But seems like he’ll have plenty of room!
Thank you so much! I couldn't decide a now decided the intermediate is perfect for my border collie. Thank you so much!!
This was very helpful! My boy is kind of weirdly shaped with short legs (he’s only 19in tall) and a long body, and he’s 62lbs. I was between these two sizes but an intermediate looks like the better fit now, thank you!
This was super helpful!
so much great info in a quick and efficient video. thank you very much.
Thank you!

Very helpful Thank you!!
This is great.
My 50 lb husky has been in an intermediate for a while but doesn't like it. I ordered the Large and am waiting for it to be delivered. Thanks for your video.
Our lab is already looking like he'll outgrow his intermediate, I feel your pain! Haha
Are you happy with the large. I know this is an old post of yours. I have a golden retriever whose 65 ish pounds. I'm thinking the large is probably the better choice.
@@griffinourgolden yes, definitely happy with the large, no issues.

And is your husky bigger then the 50lbs now? My guy is 65 lbs...
YESSS I need this lol -- trying to figure out what one to get S
I did a video with the large and XL too! Hopefully it's helpful 😊
@@TheButlerK9s That's how i originally found you LOL -- thiiiink we will go for L
I’m still conflicted lol. My boy is 55 lbs but only 19.5-20 inches tall. I’m worried the intermediate will be too small but the large will be too big and he will bump around in the car. He’s also only a year old so he may grow a smidge taller
I feel your pain haha he sounds quite a bit smaller than Juneau though. She's 63 lbs now and about 24 in at the shoulder. She rides in a large.
I got a large for my lab not sure if it's too small. Would you say he should be able to sit up straight fully heightwise? His head is like just an inch below the top of the kennel but looks like he fits the way your dog does in the large.
If it's for a vehicle it should be on the smaller side. I would not keep my dogs in a large as a home crate but for a crate in a vehicle it's the perfect fit.
@@TheButlerK9s thanks for the advice
Hi! What is the length of your pup from nose to base? I don’t see a size that would accommodate my dog who is at 41” from nose to tailbone/base. I saw the XL size but it’s still small inside. I would like to also be able to use this for airline transport that requires the dog to be able to stand up and turn around in their kennel.
Thanks!
There are too many different positions the dog could be in the measureme nose to tail and have it be accurate. I recommend taping out the size of the crate on the floor or building a rough example out of cardboard if you don't have access to one in person to test out.
Thanks for this video. I am currently making a shopping list for the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever I will be getting this fall. Would you recommend an Intermediate or Large? Toller size for a male (which I hope to get) - 18 or 19 inches at the shoulder and 30-50 lbs. Thanks!
It's hard to say and I don't like to make recommendations because I could be wrong haha. My gut tells me an intermediate would be better. Both my dogs are 60+ lbs and 24 in+ at the shoulder and they're in larges
@@TheButlerK9s Thank you! 😀
Thanks for your video. I would assume it should be safer for your dog in the video to travel in car with the intermediate size right? I’m thinking if your dog at 60+ lbs can fit intermediate size, maybe my new lab mix at 6m/42 lbs can fit too for travel purpose. Thank you
My lab traveled in the intermediate for quite some time as a puppy before I moved him into a large. For a visual of him in both crates, the video I did comparing the Gunner Kennel to the RLKs shows it. Hopefully that's helpful!
@@TheButlerK9s thanks. I’ll rewatch that one again
What size should I get for my 8-week-old GSD puppy? I was thinking mid-size just because he will grow so quickly, but should I do the small or even the medium? Thanks!
It's really up to you, the smaller you go the more crates you'll need to buy because he's going to grow out of them. Personally I would recommend holding off on smaller RLK and get a cheaper plastic crate, save the money. He'll likely be in a L or XL as an adult.
@@TheButlerK9s Thanks for such a quick reply! My trainer is recommending me just go ahead and get a L or XL, but I heard from other sources that having a smaller size as a puppy would help with training such as potty training, kennel training, etc. What are your thoughts?
@@PaulEmmanuelMusic oh it definitely helps! I would still recommend a smaller crate for when he's a puppy but I just think it'd be a waste to buy a RLK for that. If the crate is too big they will potty on one side and sleep on the other. If it's only big enough for them to sleep, they are less likely to potty in it because they can't get away from their mess.
My boy is 22in at shoulder and 40lbs. I think I can get away with intermediate?
I really don't know. You can mock up the size of an intermediate with cardboard if you are not near a place that sells them in person. All the measurements are on the Ruffland website.
We're did you get the matt in the large crate.
I made the mat in that crate using an anti fatigue foam mat from Home Depot
@@TheButlerK9s Thank you
How much does she weigh?
Juneau weighs 63 lbs
@@TheButlerK9s thanks! I’m deciding between the Intermediate or Large for our 45lb yellow lab.
@@ryansura3080 I know alot of people use Intermediates for labs! We got this Intermediate for our new lab puppy.
@TheButlerK9s I know this is an older video...im looking at buying this crate brand for my golden retriever. He is 65 lbs male. He is full size, he isn't super big like most make dogs ...but he is husky and thick ...would i go for the large ?
