Keep in mind too that Ruffland has the Gen 2 kennel, where there are grab handles included on the kennel and some additional height due to that
Another helpful one! I'm concerned about long road trips and having my dog in one of these. I know it's needed for safety though. I stop every few hours, but still
We moved across the country and Juneau rode in her crate the entire trip, over 2,000 miles. We stopped to make sure she went to the bathroom and got some exercise. In the last 10 miles of our trip, we were rear ended and it totaled my suv. Juneau was completely unharmed because she was in her crate. That is exactly why my dogs will always ride in crates, no matter how long the trip.

Yes they will fit! I've heard they will fit with the back seats up which is wonderful haha
I have a 62 pound lean Malinois. The XL they can swim in. The large they are more Secure. Shes average height Mali but taller than a GSD. Not the american line.
I found this video very helpful, especially the fact that you demo'd in an Edge! Do you know if 2 xl crates would fit? I always miss judge the size of crate I should get. I be traveling to agility trials and will need to crate in the car. All dogs are labs. Both males are the same 37" inches from nose to base of tail and 25" at withers and 75 lbs. My female is 35" from nose to tail and 23" at withers and 60lbs. Do you have any suggestions for me?
Thank you! I'm not 100% sure if 2 XLs would fit next to each other in the Edge. There is some space between the L and XL so possibly. I totally understand that! I wish I had a place to test fit them before I bought. I lucked out that the large worked perfectly for her. It's so tough with buying crates online. If you have a Cabelas/Bass Pro near you, they normally always have some Rufflands in store. For reference, Juneau is 62 lbs, 25 in. at the withers.

@@juliac111 I ended up getting two XL Ruffland Crates. Both fit with the rear seat down in my 2013 Ford Edge. My boys fit in them perfectly.

Hi! So if I wanted a crate mainly for inside the home for the dog to be crated routinely throughout the day, should I go one size up? Like if my dog would fit in a large for a car crate, should I get an extra large for them to have more room inside the home or keep it at a large? Thanks!!
I would because in the car you don't want a lot of movement because they can get thrown around that way in an accident. Personally in the house I'd have a larger crate. Juneau is in a 40+ in. wire crate inside which is massive and spacious compared to her car crate.
Can both seats be placed down if you put 1 large kennel turned facing towards the rear. I was planning on buying one with the idea of mainly using the side door. Thanks!
The seats can be left up or down with a large side door in the cargo area. That's the set up I used since we only have one dog right now, check out my car crate set up video or the large side door review video! 😊
I love ruffland kennels but I need one for a bigger dog for the business I do in the dog is over 30" at the Withers in 150 pounds they don't have great big enough for this type of dog I do however use other sides once of ruffland
Thanks for the video. I have a puppy GSD, but I am pretty sure she is going to be a similar size as Juneau when she is full grown.
My question is: How are you securing the single dog crate so it doesn't move around? I couldn't tell if you had it strapped down or not.

I have the orange one in my car all the time and I have it ratchet strapped down to the hooks on the back of the back seats. I go into more detail on it in this video:

Would an x-large be good for a home crate for a 55lb Aussie? Not sure her exact measurements as far as how tall she is, but I want to get a car crate but if I’m spending money on a ruffland, want it to double for a home crate. My dogs spend about 5 hours at a time in them due to us working.
A large might be better for the car for safety reasons but an XL will give you some more room for a house crate
For my Jeep Grand Cherokee I bought intermediate size for car rides. I have belgian malinois. How much weight for this crate is max?

my GSD is about 80-90lbs do you think shell fit a large for car travel?
I'm not really sure, my friends GSD is 80lbs and he's in an XL
My mal is only 65 but he is tall and just fits a L. I have my German Shepard pup in an intermediate but I will buy my mal at least an XL and possibly her as well
How did you get purple? I don't see Ruff Land offering that color.
It was a limited edition color. They'll occasionally offer different colors for a limited run.
It's never a problem to have a crate one size larger than the dog. It allows extra room for water and feed bowls. It is a consideration if you have a service dog, because the next service dog may be slightly larger in the future.
That makes me feel better… I just bought 2 xl rufflands and my girl is a couple inches shorter than her brother, who does need an xl… also, they are more anxiety prone

I think looking at the height and length of your dog would be more beneficial than using their weight. Check out the Ruff Land website for their measurements and compare them to your dogs measurements 😊

I think so! I know a lot of people who have mals and use Ruffland crates!

How tall is your dog? I know you said about 60 lb but at their shoulders do you know how tall?
She is about 24 to 25 in at the shoulder
Where did you find purple?
Purple is a specialty color. They will occasionally offer certain colors for a short period of time. They just did lime green after purple, and turquoise before that.They normally cycle back around.
So we are wanting a travel kennel for my 70lb golden. We travel for three hrs total every other weekend and occasionally (holidays) he would need to stay in it just to sleep overnight. Would you recommend the large or the XL?
It's hard to say but the Large would probably be a good size for the car but if he needs to sleep in at night then probably the XL. I don't have Juneau sleep in her L, it's only for travel in the car.
Anyone know if rufflands are airline approved?
