Sir, I have a three year old who loves trains who happened to see the trailer for this game (despite my protests and my partner's terrible sense of humor) and now, i've had to listen to my sweet child sound like a psychopath as he gleefully describes to me how the yellow train doesn't have to run from the spider train anymore.... Idea: Charles could move slower when he's not on tracks because of his spooder legs is not enough to zoom with his god damn 10 tons of train head. But after he rails in the tracks, he is moderately faster than normal train (basic one, without upgrades.). So that player can shoot him in order to slow him down a little with every shoot he lands. Idea 2: Despite the fact that Charles is literally a spider and a train mix he can walk faster than normal players like 2x and all you can do on bare foot is to distract him with something like a flare or some kinda sound making device, that way the game is more like a horror survival rather than a ''oh Charles, lemme walk straight to my train and run'' as he is faster than players, he can catch them if they didn't distract him. Even adding cracking twigs to ground is pretty good idea for making players be cautious where they go, run or hide.
It would make sense for Charles to have two modes of locomotion (pun intended): walking with spider legs (slower) and driving with wheels on tracks (faster). Walking should be slower because it can be done anywhere, while driving would be possible only on tracks.
ive been watching these Dev logs almost in reverse order by coincidence and it's kinda inspiring me to try again at starting developing something. really hard for me to learn but I haven't given up yet
Idea: Charles can retract his legs when over train tracks, and then drive extremely quick on those tracks to ram into the back of your train, damaging you, but also damaging him
He could also add a mechanic for the player to throw a big clump of tree sap on the tracks behind him to gunk up the train wheels that Charles would need to stand off the tracks to run the wheel on the end of his spider leg to clean it, giving the player time to gain some distance

When you finally kill Charles you get a quest maker to investigate the body. You hop off your train and take a look. When you do this it activates a cutscene where you hear a sound behind you. You turn around to see your train that you had upgraded to this point, has grown its own face and legs. It jumps at you and kills you, the screen goes black, and the end credits roll.
Game development is usually never easy, and seeing all the work that goes on into this game really gives me more reason to appreciate people who devote a lot of time and effort for our entertainment. Can't wait to play!
Either the train creature was made in a lab or some genetically engineered parasite found shelter inside a train and made it into a part of itself as it grew up into a big spider
It would make it even more creepier if there was just pieces/whole of trains scattered throughout the player game-view and progress giving the sense of dread & reality-questioning thought that mingle endlessly at the back of the player mind. thinking that there were others like him/her.....
I think that instead, every time the player is killed, Charles gains a train car, and at the point of death, the PC's body is left behind as another cardboard cutout, just like all the NPCs.

As you start to fight Charles, he can summon little “baby” trains, and they can crawl to your wheels and weapons on your train, and sabotage it, making your train less effective. (E.g. Slowing it down, or disabling weapons.) As Charles gets more angry, he will release more. If a “baby” train catches you outside your train, they can steal scrap from you, and repair Charlie. -From, train nerds

Indie games as a genre are not a new thing, but the huge amounts of them that easily rival triple A games are a new trend which will hopefully continue. I personally don't want to sponsor directors with deep pockets, but directly the people who so passionately worked on the game.
Just as a guy who is into this stuff, the term “Train” refers to a locomotive/engine pulling either another locomotive/engine or more than one freight car. A locomotive/engine is just the single vehicle you are riding in. Also, while there are other levers for brakes and stuff, that’s kind of how simple it is to drive a locomotive. Little more to it, but you basically hit the nail on the head

You need to make this game at least 2 person coop. This kind of adventure survival game on a train must be enjoyed by at least 2 person. 2 players working together gathering materials to upgrade the train, 1 maneuvering direction and the other shoots Charles from the back.
I would definitely be interested to see other enemies in the world of this game, like charles has such an interesting character design I feel like it would be cool to see other monsters like him

This is the type of game that would be great should it get a coop mode (and maybe some trailers extensions to put behind the train as upgrades). This is something you would play if you are a streamer or just someone who wants to play with a friend. The potential solo audience is much more restrained by its genre, after all.

Could you add eggsacks that work like a bear trap but doesn’t stop you in your tracks but will slow you down and damage you over time and have a 50/50 chance of alerting Charles of your location.

When i saw the trailer I thought it looked like an amazing concept and pretty polished. Definitely a money maker on steam or epic, if the gameplay is good. I can see popular youtubers like Markiplier and Corykenshin playing this for sure. Keep at it. Looks like it will pay off...

Maybe add a black box or black holes to the spider legs so it doesn't look like a TF2 sfm merged model well I'm not your boss but maybe add a little realism to the spider train
@Joshua G yeah from what I saw on the trailer charles was just lag turning at the start but he was supposed to be drifting like in the movies when a chase is happening you break them ankles they do the smooth slidey slide and they keep vroomin' after ye still

Man. Making a game has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I can't even imagine making something like this. It sounds surreal. I feel like if I could make stuff like this I would never be sad again. Over the years I have filled dozens of entire notebooks full of sketches, stories, scripts, characters, cover art, and more for fictional games that I wish I could create. Could you add eggsacks that work like a bear trap but doesn’t stop you in your tracks but will slow you down and damage you over time and have a 50/50 chance of alerting Charles of your location.
This is so many of my favorite aesthetics in one, I literally can't wait for this game. Clown? Spiders? Horror? Hell yeahhhh. Also a totally out there idea, and I love it.
