Commencing in 2026 the All Blacks will undertake a full tour of South Africa that will include mid week games against the Stormers, Lions, Sharks and Bulls. As well as a game against a SA15 and three tests against the Springboks.
In this episode of Inside Rugby I share my views and thoughts around this announcement and I am eager to hear yours.

This will be amazing. Great news I hope we get to see it over here in England on free to air but I’m not hopeful sadly.
Seeing a series between these two great nations would aid participation everywhere which is what rugby needs.
Autumn internationals have become a bit samey
And hey Mark do you remember the Northern division beating the ABs back in the seventies. I’m just about old enough to remember how chuffed my dad was with that result.

A traditional tour, what a blessing for world rugby, and the best news for the Biks and Blacks

I agree with you, I can't wait for the tour to start. As an ex South African I used to love the old tours. Always went to Newlands to watch as many games as possible 👍

These tours were fantastic! I am glad to see this again. I remember them well! And I also remember SA tours of New Zealand and the UK

1976 Western Province 12 -11 All Blacks Robbie Blair missed 9 kicks at posts, but nailed the conversion. ( 2 cents' dad was there)

It's memories like that which make these tours special. The Munster folk still talk about "the day we beat the All Blacks "

The "Dirt trackers" played the mid week games, and that gave the younger ayers exposure to tough provincial games

I miss old style tours and to your point, it’s good for the game

I was there as well. Blair was a very accurate goal kicker so his misses were baffling...the conversion of Chris Popes try was right in the corner....what a memory. These tours were amazing....lots of scrapbooking for school kids, teams used to open training sessions at schools...wonderful exposure and access to our " heroes"....

I agree with you 100% Mark! It will be great to bring back the old school tours! However I think that an AB tour of SA should be longer ie 14 matches (11 tour games & 3 tests).Reason being it should include smaller unions & gives the fans an opportunity to see their local provincial team in action against the tourists. As for the tests it should be in Cape Town,Durban & Johannesburg or Pretoria- bigger crowds! Just a thought but hope it does happen!

Thanks for your comment. Well it's got to start somewhere ( having these style of tours again) so lets see the impact it has and then it can be assessed if it is good or not for the game. I hear you on the location for the tests, lets see.

@@insiderugbywithmark Also Mark a Bok tour of NZ should be 14 matches - 11 tour matches & 3 tests.Apart from the obvious super rugby teams it should include matches against teams like Taranaki,Hawkes Bay, Manawatu & of course NZ Maoris.

It would be marvellous to see the southern hemisphere teams returning to the type of tours they had in the northern hemisphere in the past. Llanelli v The All Blacks is a prime example of the history and the wonderful matches produced. I’m not advocating the 20 plus games they used to play, but three or four international games plus six or eight regional/club games. Northampton or Saracens v The Springbok, or Edinburgh v Australia, all cloud cuckoo land, but what fun and what a chance to get the game available for so many more people!

for the benefit of NZ. Since the SA teams were dumped out of Super Rugby, that competition is now referred to as Stupor Rugby. And what with NZ players looking to the Northern Hemisphere, along with the Pacific Islands asserting themselves, ABs are on the road to tier-two nation status ... LOL

Where were New Zealand all blacks back in 2016-17 when the Boks were struggling? They were laughing en mocking the Boks now they are changing rules and making up tours to help the all blacks get back to being the best because "it's good for rugby" to have a great all black side. I don't like these tours because it is just to help New Zealand and not the greater game of rugby. But yah

Not so sure about this. In 2017 we only beat SA by one pt in the SA game and Allister Coetzee was rebuilding a team when NZ had far more experienced players, a normal cycle for all teams.

Maybe we need this to rekindle interest in rugby again. So a positive for supporters and what a learning curve for players outside of national teams. But why oh why do I start looking reasons for why we are going to loose when the mighty All Blacks are coming for us. 🙄🤭🤣🤣

Sth Africa will set the ABs up on this tour, so the ABs better be prepared for it.!!!
